Good win. Deserved, but not pretty.

We seem determined to gift away a goal or two every single match - lucky it didn't get punished tonight.

Finally we're not playing a man down with Weghorst. Sort out McTominay and it will be like we have a full eleven players.

First half was good, second half we backed off a bit. Thought we controlled the game really. Would have been nice to score a few but I'll take the solid performance and 3 points.

I felt Sancho played well, as did Martial when he came on. Please stay fit Tony.

The whole team looks reluctant to really let loose without casemiro
Thought sabitzer had some nice moments and quality work for the assist
Wish martial would stay fit but this is a pipe dream

Controlled the game, theoretically, but we were absolute piss poor going forward. I never felt we were close to scoring a goal. Even the goal we scored came as a surprise to me. Especially when you look how Newcastle smashed a team we are struggling to beat in last few years.
I'd saw we were lucky to win. Draw was the fair outcome.

Thank God for the win. Just need to get through our next match and then Casemiro will be back.

Important 3 points. Need to win the next game to at least put us 6 ahead of Spurs. I really hope we do it.

Good performance (up to pen box) but my word we lack any goal threat w/o Rashford. Antony shooting got worse as the game went on and less said about Fred's effort, the better.

Cant see how we are expected to score goals and make games safe when the squad collectively has zero goal threat.

Beat Everton on Saturday and then Casemiro and Eriksen are back. Forget Newcastle, just finish in the top 4.
Top 4 plus 1 cup and FA semi final and EL Quarter final is more than i expected this season

First half good

Second half was bizarre. We were in almost complete control, but seemed to have next to no desire to actually score a second goal. Instead we did that thing where we started playing like we were already 4 up against 10 men for the entire last half hour, just jogging about, passing it around the box like a training exercise...all whilst the team we're level on points with scored 5.
Until the last 5 minutes when we actually should have been keeping the ball but instead Dalot played a long ball to nobody when he had 4 short passing options around him, Fred took a quick free kick to nobody in their half and Mctominay, Bruno and Martial all tried to play risky through passes that hadn’t been attempted the previous 30 minutes for rashford that got intercepted

After the last few horrible weeks, this is a good result to get the ball rolling again. Keep scraping the wins until Casemiro and Eriksen are back. Top 4 is still there. Just need to win our games in hand.

Brentford had not lost 16 games in a row. They won away against City. So it might not have been a pretty win, but I do not care. Brentford is a difficult team to play against. Well organized by Thomas Frank.

Odd goal win at home and get bummed away FC rides again

An unexpected win, but a welcome one. Keeps the 4th place dream alive.

Couldn’t score for toffee, dominated for 70 minutes, wheels wobbly but didn’t come off in the final 20. Just need to play both halves like the first.

DeGea with an Immense 1v1 secured the points.

Good result in the context of where Brentford were form wise coming into this.

But the clear cut chance creation in this current team is woeful. It's painful to watch our midfield without Casemiro and Eriksen.

But....we looked more threatening than we have for a few weeks with Weghorst being dropped.

Really happy with the win, hard fought three points.

I have to question some of the bizarre decisions in the closing minutes, we could have wasted a good 30 seconds given a freekick and play the ball to their end but nooo, instead we tried some hollywood hoof and gave them the ball within 10 seconds.
Not a biggie but at this level stuff like we saw at the end is plain stupid and gives me heartburn.

Brentford were shit. One chance. We looked fine and should have scored many more with a bit of composure.

We were decent and very much deserved to win which is the main take away. Do the same against Brighton and ill be delighted.

Functional home win that could have been easier had we taken some chances.
3 points and we move on to Everton at home.

+ves - Sancho played better than last match. As did Sabitzer and McTominay who played well defensively. Malacia was competent.

Big 3 points and a good first half performance. Solid at the back in the 2nd. Much needed to boost the confidence of the players. Same please on the weekend and don’t let Iwobi become prime Neymar.

Pretty good first half. Mere second half but understandable imo since it's a mid week game and we're leading. Overall good professional solid performance I think.

Could do with anyone in Manchester who comes across a guy in a snood asking for a game of curby to maybe give them a dead leg or something.

1 more game without Case
Potentially one more league game without Eriksen.

I thought first half was very good.
second half a little bit edgy.

McTominay was excellent

Needed a win, got a win. End. Pointless talking about performance when the first XI is visibly exhausted.

A win is a win but how the bloody hell can we be so toothless in attack?
We have some more than decent players up there, but naaaaaaaaaaaah, Brentford have the mighty Jansson, Pinnock and Mee in defense..
Well well, we need to keep grinding out results now until we are full strength again and can hope for some better football.

Very glad we won, but it's a serious worry for the rest of the season that only one man looks capable of being a goal-scoring threat.

Had we been a competent team since he first played, he would be a cert to break Rooney's record.

I’m really pleased with that result. Had it down as a loss on my prediction list.

Does anyone know who the co-commentator was tonight. It’s annoying me. Said he was on pitch when Cantona scored the chip vs Sunderland. So assuming a Sunderland player

Still worrying that we at Old Trafford struggle to beat a team with a midfield consisting of three Dane’s of which none of them are Eriksen or Hojbjerg.

The last 20 I was fairly nervous as it was just the one goal. But really we were in control for the whole match. Brentford have had a brilliant season and have caused issues against all the big sides so all round we have to be delighted with that. Just still lacking goals though
