3pts away from home is all you can ask for at this time of season. The negatively on here is a bit harsh. However, what is the point of Sancho at this point?

Job done, but horrible stuff. Can’t wait for this season to end. Recover in the summer and get a much needed 9 in.

Tough watch, but good atmosphere. Does this one even count as an away game?

Another nailbiter.
And offcourse DDG needs to do the match winning late save again.

This should win us top 4 though. (not jinx ;))

Truth is we played well. It being 1-0 made the game far more tense than it should have been. As a result, people bypass are good passages of play because we aren't coasting like we should be.

However, you are right about one thing. Our attack has poor this season outside of Rashford ( Bruno is in the midfield). You can't win the league with an attack like ours. Look how one footed Antony and Martial are. Look how passive Sancho is. For years people have talked about effort and drive, but the truth is, our attack hasn't been good enough. You can't have the ball in the final third as much as we have had and have as little impact as we do. Literally all our succesful attacks this season have either come from a magic Rashford moment or good decision making from one of Bruno, Eriksen or Casemiro. For any attacker to score outside of Rashford (or Garnacho who has rarely played), it needs to be on a plate. Yet watch Arsenal and see how intensely Martinelli and Saka work to contribute to their attacks. Watch Liverpool and all their attackers do that. City is the only team in world football that doesn't need to, due to their unique system, but even with that Grealish and Mahrez still provide consistent attacking impetus. Yet here were are, a team that will never be the pass masters that City or Barcelona are, having attackers waiting for opportunites to be handed to them on a plate and wondering why we aren't winning as many games away from home as our dominance in games suggest.

For me, if we could, I would sell all three attackers that played today and let Weighorst leave. They just aren't good enough
Everybody behind Bruno played well for sure. The thing is our play through defence and midfield is much better (helps not having Maguire and mcfred) but my goodness when it hits Bruno and others ahead of him it’s just so erratic. Bruno has his good days no doubt but I feel he’s just far to erratic with his play at times and when he’s having a bad game our whole attack falls apart because nobody else can do anything. It’s genuinely relegation level our attack. Going to be far too hard to get rid of antony sancho and martial which is the worry.

Ten Haag has to take some of the heat too as he clearly isn’t getting through to our attackers and he also signed Antony who has been at utterly horrendous signing when you consider price and output.

If we were offered 2 home games to get 1 point to beat the dippers to the last CL spot and condemn them to Thursday night football at the start of the season we'd have said yes please, thank you very much:drool:

So nearly secured Champions League today, damn you Firmino for making us wait until Thursday. I would have been over the moon with a draw before game but little disappointed after leading so long

Bruno has more than his good days, Bruno has been our best players outside Martinez this season imo. He has the most chances created. What you should be looking at are positions after him. Yes, he wasn't great today, but he definitely has been throughout the season.

Antony, Sancho, Martial, Weighorst, Ronaldo, Elanga.....people aren't asking enough questions of them imo. They have been truly awful. It's funny, but I have far more trust in our midfielders in the final third than our attack at every facet of what an attacker is supposed to do. Casemiro's goal wouldn't have been scored by any of our front 3 today. Why? Because they don't have the technical quality to do so. They don't have the persistence or reading of the game to even be in those positions. They don't even make the right runs. It's no coincidence that when Garnacho came on, he was presented with attacking opportunities. Not simply because it was late game, but these were spaces available to Sancho, Antony and Martial that they simply were too passive to take. At home, when we can play as high as we want, we can complete suppress most opposition attacks and would usually get more chances that our midfielders can take due to the game being higher up the pitch. In away matches, particularly in the bigger games, where we are supposed to depend more on the individual, technical and chance creation abilities of our front 3, they always come up short ( aside from Rashford). That's why our away record is what it is this season. A better attack would have seen us pushing City

I would trust Shaw and Licha more than our attackers to create chances. That real

To me, there’s a few blatantly obvious things from today’s ”job done”, but ultimately lack lustre, performance.

  • Jadon Sancho just does not have the bollocks for the PL. Technically good with the ball at his feet and with time but when pressed - by anyone - he wilts. He literally is scared of his own shadow. Garnacho, an 18 year old kid, comes on and as we have seen time and time again - he just drives down the wing, drives into the box and causes a whole world of problems for any back four. Don‘t get me wrong I am not a Sancho hater, I just wish he’d show some courage and a belief in his own ability. Give him one more season.
  • Antony - when he tried to do a rainbow flick at some point in the second half my 16 year old son watching with me just uttered “what a prick”….from the mouths of babes, says it all. Needs to cut that shit out and concentrate on maybe not being so one dimensional. Yes his tracking back has got better but he still has a lot to prove.
  • Martial - strolling around again without a care in the world. Yes he’s more effective than Weghorst but so would my Nan be, and she’s been dead for over 30 years. Get rid.
  • Weghorst - agree with anyone else as to why ETH seems to think he’s an option. He isn’t. Send him back to Burnley.
  • Lindelof - I used to be his biggest detractor, but fair play to him. He’s shown over the last month or so that, when not coupled with Maguire, he’s a good centre half. He’s saved his United career in the last 6 weeks

So, a meandering away win and hopefully we can get at least 1 point out of the last 2 home games. However, I still wouldn’t put it past us to lose both.

We are already there. This isn't United under Ole.

Mega important win. I was super nervous for this game. We can now play with some confidence in the last two remaining games. Liverpool did crack under pressure.

Such an important win!

McT has to play that to Bruno at the end to seal it.

Sounds like Rashford was ill but otherwise was cleared to play. So should have him for Chelsea and Sancho to bench maybe.

This has turned out to be a fantastic day. The sun is shining and I went for a round of golf instead of watching United. Came back to watch most of the second half and was reassured that despite a shitty score at the golf course it was time well spent. What really makes the day great is knowing that with today’s results United will play CL football next year and, equally important, Liverpool will not.
Let’s hope that ETH will do some good business in the summer and players like Sancho, Antony, Garnacho and Amad will live up to their potential next season, then we really have something to look forward to. Cheers and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

ETH has got to start reacting better in-game. His subs are pre-planned. I love Bruno but he had a shocker today and was a liability. Yet you knew ETH would never sub him

The longest 80mins ever in the history, Einstein would be proud.
We played fairly well but should have the quality and confidence to finish games off. A clinical striker please this summer.

Huge win.....

Thankfully Bournemouth were poor as Im not sure this team has it in us to win away at a half decent side

pretty good defensively..... midfield poor bar Cas and our attack is woeful

Hopefully Rashford and Garnacho are ready to start on Thursday

City will be very very tough given our form

When Bruno has his off days our attack, minus Rashford, goes from sh*te to really, really sh*te.

Just about the points at this time if season, we know this team isn't capable of dominating teams and scoring goals! I hope to see a better set of players if we are to progress beyond the groups in CL after the slog to get to the CL.

For Sancho to perform, he needs parallel movement, therefore a midfielder than can carry the ball distances is essential, which is what we looking for.

Also, a decent striker to be able play off would not go amiss.

I thought Fernandes was awful. His passing and ability to either keep the ball or shift it quickly was non existent.
Sick of these excuses, for Sancho to perform HE HIMSELF, must perform regardless of personell.

And would you put on in his place?

Yes Bruno was shite today and is erratic at the best of times, but you also know that he's liable to provide a piece of magic from nowhere, unless he's having a total mare he's left on because there's no actual replacement

He makes dribbling look so difficult. Garnacho came on and beat his man the very first touch. Sancho just isnt fit for the league.

The way he played today id have bought Butland or the kit man on if I had to.

Sometimes a player is off it and they just need to be hooked, but we seem to see the same pre-meditated changes every week

It really wasn't fantastic out there this afternoon. It was like that Palace game where we go 1-0 up away and then seem to play with little intent, letting the game meander into a situation where once piece of luck or skill from the opposition is costly. Well, we tried, but it was rather half hearted in comparison to our psychological willingness to cling to the 1 goal advantage. We must improve at killing games.

Results away to the 10th to 20th place teams in the league this season. P11 W8 D2 L1 scored 14 and conceded 5. The one defeat probably would have been a 0-0 result but for that error by DeGea.

Unclench.

This! ha. I am very happy right now along with the Pool draw.

Great job by the defense. Victor my MoM.

Sancho is a problem obviously, but his lack of tracking back and weak efforts when he does, kill me dead.

We need a top striker and lucky buy striker (getting lucky on a Chicharito type). Assuming we treat Rashford as a full time.

We controlled the game and got the goal we needed. But we really should be blowing teams like this away.

Casemiro and AWB were the better players today.

Sancho, Martial needs to be shipped out ASAP.

WW isn't a player at United's level.

That Wout made the team miles better than Martial is a testament to how fall Martial has fallen. He does not even work.

A very good assessment of these players.

Our attacking players were poor today but other than that I think the others did very well.

We are just hot and cold throughout each match and unfortunately cold too often. I mean hot when we look sharp with quick passing and good movement. There were those moments during the match. Alas, they just don't last because there is always one player who screws up.

Good day, though, because 4th is almost in the bag. Let's win both and get 3rd!

Sancho was poor yet again today, but lets not forget we also had another winger who was also woeful. Anthony was dominated by Bournmouths full back and once again showed his petulant streak and could easily have had us down to ten men.

I didn’t watch it, had a visitor who’s a villa fan, so watched that. Saw Cas’s great strike and Bruno’s volley, plus two good saves by Dave. I heard Martial sulked to the dressing room after his replacement. Not good. But great result, we should beat Chelsea. Notts Forest were great in the other one, and Liverpool were incredibly passive. Ref gave them everything but could not help.

Commentator mentioned Bruno has created 108 chances this season, or 108 key passes whatever it was. A third of those went to Rashford and he's on 29 goals. Imagine what could have been if we had a decent no 9.

Weghorst was actually good when he came on. Tons of energy. Won duels. Held up the ball, was a physical presence and contributed well. People get so blinded by their hatred they just always blame the same people no matter what.

It was all about getting the points today. We will make top 4 now almost certainly. We will get reinforcements in the summer and continue to build next season. We will fight for top 4 again next but will hopefully see big improvements.

We need a class CM next to Casemiro. A technically good CM. Put Eriksen back where he belongs and let him and Bruno switch in the free 10 role.

Dont forget how young Antony and Sancho are. They haven't been able to handle the responsibility put on them. Antony will with time I'm sure. but Sancho I'm not so sure about anymore. He might just not handle the pressure the PL and united brings.

Rashford and Garnacho is a really strong left side and can become one of the best in PL. Our right side is weak with Antony alone. We need a more experienced winger to challenge him and learn him the ropes.

Great result. It’s all about the points at this part of the season and we held our nerve and dug out a clean sheet. Cheer up everyone!

Not sure about the “horrible stuff” assessments here.

It’s an away game, We forced their keeper into making several good saves and apart for a couple of close shaves, it wasn’t really nail biting stuff for us.

For Sancho to perform, he needs parallel movement, therefore a midfielder than can carry the ball distances is essential, which is what we looking for.
so basically.. he will be effective if all he needs to do is to carry he ball forward unmarked.
