PL D FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:1 Arsenal

Post-match discussion

Sun, 09 March 2025

With Hojlund and Onana, it is not a surprise that we can't win games. One cannot score, the other can give away goals at any time (not today, but often enough). These two positions are essential, they can give us confidence (or in our case, destroy our confidence).

That first half was everything most of us expected, except for Bruno's fantastic goal. Second half though they continued having similar % of possession but we had better chances - Mazraoui, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Bruno. Their best chance was Onana's save (after which Martinelli missed that sitter but was offside).

Raya Man of the Match. Our best player? Probably Bruno as his goal is what gave us a point in the end.

Back to back decent performances and deserved to win both. It's a low bar but mildly promising.

Lewis-Skelly is a diving little twat, just putting that out there.
Yep, he was the player that shoved his leg into Dalot, then fell over squealing which got Dalot a yellow card in the FA cup match. He's seems to be a cheat, but then again there are a few about.

United put a good shift and if a bit more clinical won have scored 3 or 4 goals today and most certainly have won. As for Arsenal the 2nd best team in the league? lets be honest this is the poorest quality Premier League ever.

Good result, although we need wins not draws

A constant struggle and not very good to watch from our end. A lot of determined defending till the rice goal and some after but Garnacho was the only one of our attacking players who showed up on the pitch in the 2nd half, with some help from Mazraoui and Bruno from deeper.

Casemiro put in a hell of a shift again. 9 tackles despite this place insisting he cant run. Players must have got the ball and run straight at him
I do find the marginalisation of casemiro a bit odd. Sure he isn't the player he once was but he can still contribute if he isn't asked to do too much

If you watch our last attempt on goal, collyer was charging into goal to get the rebound and so many in the forward position were playing their part. And then you see Hojlund walking and making no attempt to get into the play. Can we get rid of him soon?

I thought Arsenal were supposed to be good?

We were our usual selves and yet probably should have won it

Shout out to Heaven, looks a real prospect
Needs to get a good handle of what his arms are doing though. Handled in each box.

That said, he's pretty handy (no pun intended) on the ball which is great even if a bit unpolished in some of his tackles, which is to be expected with a young kid.

If he develops well, having him and Yoro on the same pitch could help us push up the pitch a good few yards

Just have to stop conceding from winning positions and we're on our way to the top half.

I'd like to see when the last time Garnacho, Hojlund and Zirksee scored a league goal. Rubbish putting the ball in the back of the cobwebs.

Crap first half, better second half.

Done about as well we could have hoped after playing on Thursday and Arsenal playing on Tuesday.

We look a lot better with a bit of pace and energy on the pitch, need to keep giving Collyer and Heaven plenty of time on the pitch, they increase our intensity very well and they are not afraid to get on the ball either. Surround these youngsters with some experienced players and we may do ok.

Much better performance all round, Still the obvious players need to be moved on of out of the team.
Been on the fence with Onana but add him to the list he's so jittery on crosses he's causing chaos in the defences confidence, usual palming off into troublesome areas again.

With more clinical forward players we win that comfortably. This upcoming transfer window is so, so important.

Could have won that. And to think there was some clown on the radio talking about how this could be Arsenal's chance to avenge the 8-2. It gives me great pleasure to think that Arteta is probably seething at this result.

We should have won based on 2nd half performance. Draw was a fair result, Raya is man of the match, Dalot is the opposite. Mazrouai was fantastic as WB with his supporting to Garnacho. Once Dorgu is back, I don't want to see Dalot starting a game.Hoijund is simply useless. Even chances are given to him on a plate, he still amazes me with not having a shot on target. How can he be a Danish international??? Is he is best they can offer? One of worst striker wearing United jersey.

The last 5 minutes:

Garnacho selfish and shooting instead of passing.
Dalot crossing to the moon.
Hojlund clueless in front of the goals (2 times).
Onana giving back the ball in dangerous position.

Sums up our season.

Crap first half, but much better second. Couldnt understand why he took Zirkzee off for Hojlund. He should have took off Eriksen for Obi and put Zirkzee in Eriksens place. What a player Heaven is though. Mazraoui had a good game as well.

Should've won.
Give Ruben the tools and we improve next season.
Maz was exceptional today.
Wish we had a striker with a killer instinct though!

Bruno slowly but surely finding his best form again. It feels like a long time but the last 3 or 4 games has won the man of match award. He’s getting into his groove and without him we’d be far worse off. Terrific player and essential to our team.

Well done to the lads, grew stronger as the game went on after a quiet 1st half. Now bring that 2nd half performance into Thursday and we should have enough to get over the line.

Another game where United would have won if hey had a half decent experienced striker. But positive vibes at least.

Credit where it's due to united, loads of injuries today and lindelof heaven casemiro eriksen and collyer all featured, and we deserved a win i think

I thought we were very good.1st half we were comfortable without threatening but 2nd half we could easily have been 3 up.Most pleasing aspect for me was we were the most likely after they equalised.

Mazraoui was very good and the young lad Heaven looks very promising.

Raya was lucky.
We were unlucky too today.
Heaven was good maybe even better than Yoro.

I do find the marginalisation of casemiro a bit odd. Sure he isn't the player he once was but he can still contribute if he isn't asked to do too much
Thought he played really well, always good on the ball, but was getting back and doing the hard work out of possession. Unfortunately in the position he plays, there's a lot of stuff to do, but he seemed to last pretty well.

If we had any players capable of putting the ball in the back of the net, we should've won. We don't, so didn't!

Can't imagine there is a team playing in any league anywhere sp expensively assembled but the collective skill level of a team a hundredth of that value.

Should have won that. Amorim set us up well. Maz and MDL were great, Bruno had a great free kick. Let's get that win Thursday now. Biggest game of the season coming up.

Massive performances from De Ligt, Mazraoui and Bruno. Garnacho was decent. Heaven was excellent too.

Abysmal performances as usual from Zirkzee, Hojlund, Dalot and Onana. Another game where a half decent striker would be transformative.
We had a youngster on the bench who might have grabbed one of those late chances. Just take a chance.

I was expecting a loss. I wasn't expecting to not lose and feel like we lost.

Zirkzee, Mazraoui, Bruno and fecking Reluctant Rasmus all had chances to kill it.

Maz has all of a sudden become a proper threat going forward. Hopefully, he can become consistent with that now.

How have we not lost that game

Also, how have we not won that game

Summation complete.

Thank goodness for draws, it was the only fair result. Arsenal have more quality, despite it being lacking when it mattered tonight, but we showed so much heart in that second half.

No wonder Liverpool are sauntering to the title of this is the alternative. Arsenal had about as much attacking threat as a Rasmus Hojlund skills dvd
