Post Match United v Blackburn

back 4 with rb who was instead lined up in midf.
play a wide right player like valencia at rw.
play one of rooney , gibson , giggs or anderson in ctr mid with park
nani on the left and one of the three strikers on the bench.but

that's my set up which is why i coach u14.

But Rooney/Gibson/Giggs weren't in the match squad. And if Anderson plays today, he'll probably have to come off and miss the Newcastle match.

Do people think Gibson wouldn't have started if he could? Rooney had had knocks, imagine we'd just lost 3-2 and Rooney got injured in the first five minutes.

It's all well and good complaining about rotation, but rotation is what wins us leagues, and we HAD to rotate today.

We have enough 'bodies'
we need to get them fit.
We could do with 1 central midfielder. No real room for anyone else in the squad.
and that place wont be filled by some makeshift player. We'll wait/bargain/look till we get someone who is top quality.

I really dont expect too much in the transfer window.
And about momentum. This wasnt a full strength side losing at home. The players will come in who didnt play today. It shouldnt really matter.
We've had these before. We have one of these every season.

the 3-0 against Fulham was similar. De Laet and Carrick at the back that day.
We move on

what about the gaping hole left by vida and fletchers absence?
2 of our most experienced guys.....??

got what we deserved
this policy of believing that putting square pegs into round holes is good enough to beat 'smaller' teams has been found out..again
respect your opponents (and that goes to our fans too.. one predicted 8-0 ffs!)

we have no leaders on the pitch today. bunch of fecking midgets who are happy to let the keeper take the blame

The lack of leadership is one thing that really worries me. We don't have any leaders at all on the pitch. Rooney is the best we have. Evra is not a leader.

What points you taking issue with?

Or are you just making a baseless Top Red statement?

Most of them. One bad game/result it's like the end of the World. The only points I agree with are Evra & De Gea.

We didn't need to put so many "square pegs in round holes" though did we?

The team selection and subsequent result was fecking infuriating. People are going to vent their frustration whether you like it or not.

I actually like to see fans venting, it shows how passionate they are.

Same. People wear their hearts on their sleeves, and most will look back at their reaction - or over-reaction - and regret it. Can't believe fans who shrug off a defeat at home by a team that's bottom of the league. Rose tinted specs can be as annoying as over-pessimism.

This is the reason why I think today was a massive blow to our title chances. In seasons past teams have blown up....I don't see City doing it. Far to much quality and depth. We dropped a bollock today.

It's criminal to drop points at home against teams like Blackburn.

City are different gravy at home. They don't drop points there and that's where most of their big games are now. They're in the driving seat.

Spot on

That is the key point here. We should be beating the bottom team in the league at home easily.

On the other hand, we didn't drop points at places like West Brom away. They're at most THREE points ahead of us. They might be in the driving seat, but we're gonna fight all the way after having

a) less Money
b) Less Wages
c) More injuries

We're doing everything we can to stay in touching distance of City. It's amazing we're 10 points clear of Chelsea.

What kind of player is Will Keane? Is he a striker of a midfielder?

None of that makes it any more acceptable to lose at home to Blackburn.

Poor team selection, poor performance. Poor result.

Good post!

Anderson is back well ahead of what was expected. I am pretty sure if we had more players fit he would not have made the bench

Fergie really did not have enough options available. and you cant throw Pogba in

so throw a rb - fresh from an injury into ctr midf? i'm fecked if i understand that. give youth a chance v youth. that wasn't blkbrn at full strength. fergie knew it was fecked and ch'd it, should have done at kickoff.

Poor today, don't feel we deserved anything at all. That said this type of results happen every season, it's all part of the title chase and City will drop points.

We're doing everything we can to stay in touching distance of City.
nah, we're not. Fergie made life difficult for us today by playing a ridiculous amount of players out of position. We fecked that one up and I wouldn't be surprised to see it costing us dearly at the end of the season. Looking at our fixtures list City are not only in the driving seat, they are strong favourites.

What else can Fergie do when we have most of our defenders missing?

Another below par performance cost us today

As a result of the team selection. Starting Park and rafael in midfield? That's mental. There wasn't much Fergie he could do but he dropped a bollock today. The below par performance was due to players being out of position and that had to do with the team selection. Today is one to forget really.

But that still doesn't excuse poor team selections!

It does make it remarkable that we beat Wigan 5-0, but of course no-ones interested in that game once it's done.

The injuries certainly make an acceptable excuse to lose to Blackburn today. With 14 players out, I think there's a reason we played poorly today, but we still dominated the play, just couldn't get the goals along with poor defending.

Well let me just say.

feckKKK SAAAKKKEEEEEE

I can honestly say that was the most frustrating game of football ever. So annoying. We did well to come back from 2-0 but our makeshift defence were woeful (understandably so).

We NEED players back. We need them back fast.

Well done to Blackburn. Played excellently. Well done to United as well, because those of you playing in your correct positions did well.

De Gea???

Evra???

Chico???

Park???

Nani???

Berba.......... Berba was the beast out of a bad bunch, not even the players in their own positions played well.

In football sometimes you lose games. And sometimes in football you don't win the title, another team does.

You take the bad times with the good as a football supporter.

And it's only a game, let's look forward to the Newcastle game now.

I think I'll avoid the Caf for a few days after this, too much doom & gloom for me.

Happy New Year :)

But that still doesn't excuse poor team selections!

You're right. Fergie today should have started

Da Gea

Rafael
Smalling
Rio
Evra

Nani
Fletcher
Anderson
Valencia

Berbatov
Rooney

Who cares if Rooney has a knock and hasn't trained? And let's play Anderson a full 90, and forget about the Newcastle game in a few days. And why the feck can't Smalling play?

what about the gaping hole left by vida and fletchers absence?
2 of our most experienced guys.....??
So if we sign a central defender, what do we do when Vidic returns in 6 months time?
Fletch, I agree. But he will return.
Midfield is the place to strengthen. But with Carrick, Anderson, Clev, and one of the kids(pogba, tunni, morrisson, cole), we cant add too many there either. 1 top quality player is what we need. And I'm certain we are looking for one.

Its not a title decider and we played better then Blackburn but time and time again we're reminded how overrated some of our players actually are. If you believe the hype, this team should have demolished Blackburn with little to no difficulty.

But Rooney/Gibson/Giggs weren't in the match squad. And if Anderson plays today, he'll probably have to come off and miss the Newcastle match.

not positions. look fergie made the right call at half time - end of. the players selected may have been right but the positions in which they played was fecking silly.

De Gea???

Evra???

Chico???

Park???

Nani???

Berba.......... Berba was the beast out of a bad bunch, not even the players in their own positions played well.

Park wasn't in his natural position. I thought Nani/Chica were fine, and I think Da Gea made one bad mistake which could have been dealt with better by others.

Berbatov was great, Rafael looked great in the second half, Welbeck did fine I though and Valencia and Anderson looked good

Rafael has been on the bench over the last couple of weeks. Clearly ahead of Anderson in terms of fitness

But what else can you do? Would swapping Valencia/Rafael change much? I'm not sure at all..

The only mistake I felt SAF made was not involving Giggs, it was clear once Anderson came on that having a natural midfielder made a world of difference in giving us some tempo and direction. At the back we looked soft but if we had a better balance going forward we could have outscored them.

You're right. Fergie today should have started

Da Gea

Rafael
Smalling
Rio
Evra

Nani
Fletcher
Anderson
Valencia

Berbatov
Rooney

You are missing the point mate, how do you justify playing Rafael at CM? I guess we will have to wait for Fergie's explanation later...

Because we had a gap in CM, and had no-one to fill it. Play Valencia there and you have a midfield of:

Welbeck - Park - Valencia - Nani

and a defence of

Evra - Carrick - Jones - Rafael

I don't think that's much better than what happened today.

All that still won't make it feel any less painful if they were to win the title. In years to come, our injuries or what ever reason we wish to state now, won't be mentioned if the records show that City won the title.

And to top it all, it sodded up my IKTS.

Massive helping hand from the ref in sending Sammon off makes that a very hard game to judge.

We had problems today, but we still made absurd selections - worst of all was Rafael in CM and Valencia at RB.

Ferguson's reasons for dropping Rooney also seem unconvincing. Apparently, Rio missed out today with a cold. Goodness me...

We could and should have played a natural defender who was actually available (Fryers) at the back. Evra and Jones in the centre, Rafael right-back, Carrick and Anderson in midfield. Take Anderson off after 60 minutes and bring Gibson on. No matter how much any of us defend the team selection, it was simply ridiculous and cost us.

Does it really make that game hard to judge?

How about the referee seeing Berbatov being fouled today and not giving a penalty. Does that mean this game was hard to judge?

Today's result really ruined the occasion. Not the 1st time this happened (Memorial Munich Disaster sticks to mind).

The worst part is, we had fit players available who weren't on the bench, but should be on the bench, like Giggs, Rooney, Gibson, feck it, maybe even Morrison.

Man, we were finally on a good run and then this result. What a kick in the teeth this all is.

Anyway, Happy New Year Cafs!

Evra and Jones in the centre against Yakubu? No thanks, don't think that would have worked much better.

And Gibson is seemingly unavailable.
