This polll is really not a good representative of the current opinion. It was started a long time ago, and with Guardiola now gone, it'd probably be around 90/10.

I'm pretty sure the rumors are 100% accurate.

You have to look at it logically. United are not being run as sloppily as some people have been suggesting here over the past few weeks. The club has simply not made progress over the last two years, although I do believe LVG would have turned it around eventually, as he is an excellent coach. But seeing as he's intending to retire next year anyway, it's not as if they can rely on him for long anyway. And so preparations will have been made to replace Van Gaal, but there's no need to fire the entire coaching staff mid season. Better to keep things settled as they are and hope that VG can dig deep into his experience and push us into the top 4. United still need to be seen as a club that doesn't panic, and treats people with integrity. I can't think of many managers who have such a strong character as Mourinho, and he seems ready to take the challenge on. His egocentric desire to be regarded as the savior of a massive club like United makes the current situation tailor made for him.
Not only do I think Mourinho will take over at the end of the season, but I think he's already looking at players, and this is probably where the rumors have been leaked in Italy. Mourinho and Mendes are eyeing up players.

Could be wrong, but this is where my money is.

I think this the rumours are spot on. It makes to much sense, and the sources are quite reliable.

Good post. I agree.

Lads it's not true, the same company that did that Rex Secco to Arsenal bs in the summer are at it again with Jose. I follow the companies CEO on Twitter and he is tweeting about setting off all the rumours.
post tweets?

Interesting that they seem so sure of their source, wonder if the English press will pick up on it soon.

We might have wanted Pep? We'll never know but I think it's better in someways to hire afterwards, as a response as opposed to someone being responded too. So us calling for LVG may have been wrong to do so for now. I think LVG is a lucky man in some respects, that no one situation was completely ideal. I agree that Joses probably already got the job, but I think we don't want to play our hand just yet. It seems to me typical of City to announce it early. I think we don't want to sack LVG. I think we want to give them every chance to win trophies here but ultimately, LVG will retire - hopefully a winner.

Twitter rumors maybe but I think it will be true anyway. I can't see him getting a new contract and few players will want to sign for a guy with only one year left.

Yeah, I agree with the gist of this. I hope that we do get Mourinho at the end of the season, it feels right to me

What exactly are you saying? You think LVG is going or seeing out his contract? lol

I'm not going to lie, he doesn't excite me but he's 100times better than Giggs.

For what it's worth 90% of our summer transfer stories that turned out true broke abroad before they broke here.

Yes i corrected my post after I checked up on it, yes well this was the Barcelona team that has been dubbed the best club team ever, So Mourinho short stint there was successful IMO, Mourinho has proven he is a winner in Spain, Portugal, Italy and in england thats 4 of the top 5 leagues in Europe including the most difficult the premiership, He has conquered Europe with Inter and Porto, he is possibly the best Modern manager in football today and IMO Pep will only prove he is better by being successful in the premier league, Peps stint at Bayern should not even be considered an achievement IMO its a one horse race and would take a disaster to win nothing domestically with Bayern, He was amazing with Barcelona but again it was the best crop of players to ever play club football together and he didnt have to put many of them there...

I am Mourinho all the way, I think he is tailor made for Manchester United, his football is far from boring only short memories will suggest that, I hope to god he becomes our next manager his passion and success is what we want

Sweet sanity I can taste it from here....
IF I was a gamblin' man, I know where my bet would fall.

I hope it's true. He's exactly the sort of calibre of manager we need.

Enough of this Giggs pish. Time to bring some standards back.

Apparently COPE reporting this now. Jose to United in the Summer.

Investors probably know Mourinho can bring more prestige and most of all commercial attractiveness in bigger dose than LvG but we have to be careful here and I think we already are by playing it cool to the rest of the season, that being said it could be just a media maneuver to spice up the atmosphere before upcoming league match.

He had a terrible season in England plus that Carneiro incident... I'm just not sure of this yet but at least maybe it will motivate players and LvG to double the efforts while he's still not retired.

Always said this was definitely going to be on... Sure as hell going to be an exciting premier league next year. Pep and City, United with Mou, Liverpool with Klopp, and then Chelsea possibly getting Simeone in. Wouldn't be surprised to see City, United and Chelsea all spend over 150m in the summer.

Last week a lot of people convinced United had gazumped City to Pep and this week everyone convinced Mourinho is coming in the summer.

I'll believe it when I see him sitting at his desk with his United mouse mat...

The same Italian guy that broke the Mourinho story first also said a few days ago that Chelsea are negotiating with Conte. Seems more likely than Simeone.

Think all the money is on Allegri as the next Chelsea manager now.

...who the hell ever believed Pep was not becoming City manager?

Nobody with a brain in their head, that's who. There was more on this forum about Pep coming here than anything in the papers/media. Was quite odd reading the denial and delusion until City finally announced it.

Mid December isn't that long ago. When it started we had just drawn to Leicester and West Ham, got knocked out of the CL and lost to Bournemouth.

Assuming for a moment that all this is true, and United and Mourinho have already done/signed an agreement or whatever, then who would be the likely source be for leaking this information to El Confidential, COPE, or whomever else at this stage now?

If it were from Mendes, then surely he would be briefing the opposite to try to put pressure on United for his client's benefit? What does he gain from the press reporting a done deal if the deal actually is done? Now if there were no deal - or maybe even no interest from United at all, as I think is the case - then I could understand leaking a bullshit story linking his client with United in the hope of flushing-out a PSG, or Valencia, or Hong Kong Pandas (I, erm... don't actually know the name of any Chinese clubs); we see this tactic in action every summer in the transfer market so why not with unemployed managers during the season?

Alternatively, why would United decide to leak this development if it has actually happened? The club wouldn't want the press (even the foreign press) reporting this news in February when Champions League qualification is very much in danger - why risk destabilising the club at this stage? I don't immediately see how United would benefit from leaking the news, so I'd rule the club out as being the source.

Other possible sources could be a rogue employee from either Mendes or United, or a third-party source involved in the deal (legal advisers maybe?), or even just a random chancer who has somehow found-out the details and decided to cash-in, rather than the leak being authorised by either Mendes or United as a discussion tactic. Or maybe the source comes from LVG, stemming from being upset at not getting his anticipated third year?

Or it's just completely made-up, in order to generate interest/cash during the post-transfer market lull for the media, or just to misled the media altogether.

In summary: I'm sceptical, but we shall see I guess.

Samuel Luckhurst has tweeted that it's 'nonsense' and Miguel Delaney has said there's no deal yet, for what it's worth.

One thing I've just been reminded of is that Jose signed Falcao after his time here. I was up for seeing us give Jose a chance but, with that in mind, my enthusiasm just dropped 50%. What was he thinking signing him ?

Erm doing his agent mate a favour in return for other favours?

Just like Fergie did with Bebe.

Mendes is his agent & friend. If we get Mourinho, be prepared for us to sign a few more Mendes clients.
