A wild Bananamon appears.

Shame it's not a Swagmon

WE WANT MORE

Also I can't believe this thread made over 2000 replies, my lasting legacy to this site will be bloody pokemon :lol:

seriously though @Olly how do i know if they're fakes or not?

There's a few different ways. The main one will probably be if it says that it doesn't work on 3DS systems. All DS games play on 3DS, fakes ones don't, so that'll be the biggest giveaway.

Another good way is the box. This picture shows a US DS game on a right and a European one on the left;

Sometimes there'll be a DS game for sale that's in a European case, but has the ESRB rating symbol which is what's used in the US. European games have a PEGI rating. THIS is the US rating (also in my pic), and THIS one is the European one (also in Snowjoe's pic). So if there's a mix and match of types of cases/ratings then that's another indicator.

managed to find one on amazon that looked decent and since i had a £25 gift voucher on there it's only costing me like £12. Still fecking expensive if i didn't have that voucher though!

Another giveaway is usually the manual. Unfortunately you wont know this way unless you actually buy a fake version though. Here's part of the manual I got with a fake copy of Professor Layton and the Curious Village;

Yes, they actually just copy and pasted a Gamespot review, including watermarked screenshots... and negative points on the game.

Seems like a lot of effort for an obvious fake. I'd have used toilet paper.

I wonder why they decide to go to the trouble of manufacturing fake cartridges, print the covers etc, and yet they can't be bothered to use scans of a proper manual and actually go to the extra effort of constructing their own shittier version. Bloody idiots.

yeah that's why i'd have liked it more than for it's usefulness. still, if i see one cheapish on ebay perhaps i'll pick it up.

in other news i bought a gameboy colour on ebay today. i still have my old one but i picked this one up cheap because i've been toying with the idea of opening one up and sticking a frontlight in it.

If you do that let me know how hard/simple it is. Would like to get a cheap one sometime and have a go, having a Game Boy Color with a light would be awesome.

yeah i saw some people who've done it and it got me really interested. there's a fair few tutorials out there on how to do it and it doesn't look too hard, i'm sure i could manage to feck it up though. of course, i may also do that awesome thing i do where i get a great idea/plan and then never finish it.

i've also managed to get an original gameboy for a tenner off ebay now too. i was thinking of trying to put a backlight in it but i'll have to investigate that a bit and see how hard that'll be. if it looks too much for me i can just keep it as a collection piece anyways, i love the retro look of it!

I'd use mine if it had a backlight, I love the design of the original Game Boy line.

I wish these weren't so expensive, I'd love to get one some day
