Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

Is modest nature any good?
One of the best two natures for Special Attackers.

I think I might try and aim for a team like Greninja, Venusaur, Charizard, Hippowdon, Gardevoir and Lucario. Not a very interesting team, with only one new pokemon even though there are a few that look good. Sylveon and Dragalge in particular I want to try. Anyone used them yet?
Dragalge looks to have fairly junk stats(especially speed), which is a shame as it looks awesome and is a unique typing. Sylveon is a bit slow, but apparently an utter beast. I'm just after evolving one in X to use.

Also, lot of places saying you have to max out all of Eevee's Amie stats to evolve it it Sylveon and know a Fairy move. You only need to get it to 2 hearts though, and (I believe)full of Poke Puffs, and of course the Fairy move.

That's a bit disappointing. With the Fairy types, I thought Dragalge would be a good Dragon type to use. Its S.Def is great, but attacks are average and HP is low as well. Might give it a shot though at some point.

Might be worth a shot alright, especially with the new Exp Share, you can just leave it in the back of your team to grow, and stats can be deceptive. Nidorans have fairly mediocre stats too, but can be utter beasts.

The wild pokemon in black are unreal, you literally can't walk through grass without a battle every other step. It's annoying as shit.

Just battled Yveltal, a couple of dragon claws from Garchomp got him to red, and then 4 ultra balls later he was caught. Probably the easiest legendary capture I have ever had. Makes those dark days of trying to catch the legendary birds on Red/Blue seem even harder

Black/White onwards, they increased the capturing rate for some of the legendaries because they were necessary to capture for the story to progress.

By far the easiest, I one shot killed it, and it stays there for you to have another go, "Yvetal wants to help!"

Managed to beat the Elite Four and champion first time around on SS. Only managed it because I had Lugia, otherwise I would've been hurt big time.

One little addition which would've been nice would be some kind of dialogue the first time you bring out Lugia/legendary on a trainer, say your rival or the Champion. It's meant to be one of a kind, so having some kind of effect when you reveal you've not only seen it, but captured it, would be a nice little touch. Not all the time otherwise it'll drag, but just in the big battles.

Might have to break into the older games soon and start catching pokemon ready for the bank. Going to go on a mad hunt on X later.

Read that Friend Safari pokemon always have 3(IIRC) perfect IV's, to make breeding easier. Breeding is far too much work though unless you plan playing competitively. I did somehow pop out an "outstanding" Clauncher though, pretty happy with that,

Gonna try chain for some shineys, apparently you can chain fishing now and it's fairly easy to do, might give it a go.

To be honest I simply don't have the time of patience! Apparently this fishing thing you can get shineys quickly. You don't have to kill or catch pokemon in the chain you can run if you want.

I can see that, heard of guys going through hundreds of eggs for a shiny. Couldn't be dealing with that. Could take a swing at the fishing chains though, shiny Clauncher or Dragalge would be quite sweet.

Yeah Clauncher would be awesome, I'm 10 into my chain now. Make sure you take a pokemon with sticky cups or something first in the party so you are guaranteed a bite!

Well feck me

Got into the battle and realised I didn't have any pokemon under level 60! Caught it at full health with 3 ultra balls

Not having as much luck now, the clauncher only took about 12 goes, on a chain of about 50 now.

FFS came across a horde of Plusile with one Minun in it and got excited because I thought it was a shiny.

Where did my tagline change come from?

If you're looking for Heart Scales btw, Vivillion is like the best pokemon going. Compound Eyes + Thief.

Some use a ko'd pokemon with Compound Eyes, and a mon with Frisk in the second slot, but there's no need. First round Thief and run away second is really quick if you get a Heart Scale or not, and with Compound Eyes, they'll mostly have them.

Oh that's awesome, I take it you can still use them for relearning moves? Because I got a couple of pokemon I need to do it with.

Finished black last night, final battles were cool though all a touch easy. Went rounding up legendaries after that;

Current team is Reshiram, Virizion, Cobalion, Volcarona, Kyurem, Carracosta. Honorable mentions for darmanitan and sigliyph!

Away to round up the six sages and catch tornadus if I can be bothered, can you go to any route and run in and out of a house until he appears?

Not heard of any of them polemons, what happened to the classics?

Yup, in the town next to the ice cave. A lot of the new mons, you can also get their later on level up moves there too, for some reason, and they seem to be able to remember TM's they had used but are now deleted, maybe even egg moves.

That's quite the beast team.

Tornadus, has to be the house on route 7 to start it, then the random route junk. I usually go to a town(the central one with the electric gym, iirc) and pop in and out of a route until the storm appears. Should only take a few minutes.

Thinking of planning a proper team and EV training them, funny how much you almost have to study to figure out a good combo. I've only ever just played with pokemon in the game not paying attention to anything deeper. Could be interesting.

EV training is stupid easy now. Get the power items, they give you +5 to whatever stat you're doing, and train against hoards(using Sweet Scent).

Hoard = +5 min, Power item = +5, Pokerus = x2. Have a poke at the lead with Surf, Earthquake or such, one shot them all in one go. 5 battles and you'll have a stat EV'd. If you have say two lads to train in SpAtt and Spd, have one with the Speed Anklet, and the other with the SpAtt Lens, and you'll have them both near ready in minutes.

I trained my entire X team last night in no time. Clawitzer is fecking ridiculous. Lv 54, with over 200 SpAtt, Mega Launcher to give all his (pulse/aura)attacks +50%, and Water Pulse hitting at Surf power, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse and Dragon Pulse hitting at Fire Blast/Hydro Pump power or more.

Yeah I see now the actual training has been made easy, and obviously the EXP share also gives all the pokemon in the party the same EV's, which is a bonus so long as you are trying to train them all in the same stats. More working out what you want them to specialise in and picking out a good moveset for it.

Although thanks to the internet all the hard work has been done!

I see you got a tagline SnowJoe. Did you really catch Clauncher with 3 ultra ball?
