Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

Does anybody want a Froakie with it's hidden ability Protean? I'll be breeding a few, so just let me know who wants them.

I'll try to get them ready by tomorrow.

Cheers elmo, not sure if you had Pokerus or not so that Eevee is infected, and you can never have too many Eevees I guess.

You're getting tired of wearing that swimsuit, Marissa? Don't mind me, by all means take it off.

What's Pokerus?

Basically it's a virus that means the Pokemon gain double EV points when they fight than usual. It's not too important for the game but if you are fighting online it can make it a lot quicker to train your pokemon quickly. Look up EV training if you want more info, there's quite a lot to it.

I will do but I don't have much to trade at the moment. Unless you're happy with a weedle. The same goes for you Snowjoe

Yeah don't worry, I'm going to breed a few more of every starter this evening so I'll have plenty, don't want anything in return.

I don't really understand what I'm supposed to be doing in this game, the story doesn't seem to point you in the direction to go as much as the other games. And the problems you have to solve to move the story on don't seem to take half as long as they used to.

Yeah it's odd, it' less story driven and less of a challenge but it's the first one I've been motivated to actually collect and breed pokemon, depends what you're into I guess.

I wish you could have 8 spots in a team. Mad to think you used to have to just pick between Jolteon, Flareon and Vapoureon.

Like the wake Snorlax up part ends as fast as it starts. In the old games, you didn't get to wake Snorlax up until mid-late game, even though you discovered him quite early on.

I can't beat Sabrina for the 10th badge... going to have to take on the Elite 4 again for some extra training.

I always liked Flareon but ended up using Vapoureon more as I almost always had a fire starter in most games.

Also I can't believe this thread has made 20 pages

My fave since gen one(one of my fave of all pokemon), but being physical biased meant it spent the first 3 gens being mediocre, and the next two no Flare Blitz meant the same.
Was it a twisted fire starter?
Filth infactuated. Like us all.

I think I usually ended up with Flareon or Jolteon, the only game I've ever had more than just one was Gold, when I bred the Eevee.

It's not a surprise to me. In the thread: Grown men talking about a children's game.

PS Is it bad I do an air punch, ranging in vigour depending on how much I want the Pokemon or how hard it was to catch pretty much every time I catch a new Pokemon?

No it's to be expected, I remember the first time I caught Mewtwo I danced with excitement, I mean I was 7 but still...

You're also obliged to give the screen the middle finger and mutter "fecking cnut" every time a Pokemon you're trying to catch Self Destructs, gets a critical and faints or runs away. Mostly the Self Destructs though.

In my Gold copy I caught Mewtwo with a Pokeball. He had a sliver of health, it was majestic. It was only after this that I learned the Masterball can catch him with full health, without having to battle.

Do any of you live in or around Manchester and are interested in playing the game a bit more competitively? If so, there's a tournament at TV21's in Manchester City Centre (it's right near Shudehill Bus Station / less than 5 minutes walk from Piccadilly if you're getting the bus in):

https://www.facebook.com/events/233767040109469/?ref_newsfeed_story_type=regular

Tournament is this Sunday 12-6. Some pretty cool prizes and everyone gets free entry into a prize draw raffle, and a free drink up to £4 on the house.

I've put loads of time into this game already, it's quite sad, but the game is awesome. I've made my team for that tournament so we'll see how it goes haha beaten the Single and Double Battle Maison's, so might see if my team holds up against the Super Doubles version now - want to get over 50 wins for that Trainer Card upgrade :3

Jolteon was the shit back in the day. Rapid and packed a serious Thunderbolt.
In the early days Jolteon was probably the very best Electric pokemon, and tbh, it's still up there.

I haven't used a Masterball in like, 4 gens. Keep minding it, dunno why...

You left out Abra's teleport. I missed out on a shiny abra when it broke out of my ultraball and all my pokemons would ohko it

Always keep a few Quick Balls on your person! And if you're looking to catch a Pokémon, these O-Power things are really, really handy too! Level 3 + a Quick Ball grants a very high chance of capture :)

There's a special kind of hell for that situation.

I believe you have to take the game out of the handheld, smash the handheld off a wall, put the game in some girls handbag(preferably one who's wronged you), shit in the handbag, then smash the handbag off a wall.

Quick Balls, Repeat Balls and Dusk Balls should always be in good supply.

Of course if you're planning on hunting a specific Pokemon, it's always good to have the matching ball, like Net Balls for Bugs or Water.

I have an Absol with Mean Look and False Swipe for that exact situation.

Just got my 2DS and Pokemon Y today. I was planning on revising for my mid-semester test, which is tomorrow, but I'll just have to accept I won't do that well now.
