Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

Opened xmas day and found it difficult to put down. 4 badges down and enjoyed whooping Team rocket like it was the first time.

Finding it more enjoyable that I thought I would based on the previous reviews about wild encounters going and difficulty level.

Really enjoying the nostalgia aspect. Seeing a Pokemon for the first time in years (I haven't played Pokemon since Leaf Green) and the relationship had with Pikachu just like the series or pokemon Yellow.

Few things can be tweaked to make the game more difficult, which hopefully the new gen game should provide.

The only shiney I have is a Clefairy.

I got sucked in - got a Shiny Rattata in Viridian forest, so assumed would be easy enough to find one wherever you put in the time. 22 catch combo on Rhyhorn in Rock Tunnel without anything before streak broke.

Not sure if you've looked it up yet, but it's a 31+ streak when the odds are at maximum. Although, a Lure and having the Shiny Charm item (complete the Pokedex and talk to someone in Celadon City) will give you an even greater chance.

I've found that the best thing to do with streaks is never throw more than two balls at the Pokemon. If it gets out twice or you missed, just run away. It isn't worth breaking your streak and starting it over again. Once you've caught 31 you can just not encounter any until a shiny eventually pops up, unless you want the Candy for that Pokemon to power it up of course.

Started my alpha sapphire game with a party of Lvl 1 5/6IV pokemon from pokebank. Theyre shredding

Sweet, cheers for advice!

OMG, the world of Pikachu plushes is too cute.

I musn't get sucked into it, the Christmas ones are enough...

I really like Let's Go so far. It feels weird, but nice to be able to play Pokemon on a TV. It took a little while to get used to having to play it left handed, I'd prefer to be able to sue the joycon grip or a pro controller, but it's just a small thing really.

I love how it looks  I thought I was going to like how the Pokemon show up and can be avoided and I do, it's fun seeing them walking or flying around, makes the world feel a bit more alive.

So gone through and beat the Elite 4 & rival, with a combined total of 3 pokemon fainting (1 of which I could have avoided if I had made the effort) and total time of about 20 mins.

Really dissapointed in the elite 4 challenge. Something I usually found really frustrating, was just completely skipped in this game - which is the use of potions/restores etc by the elite 4. When their pokemon are on red health, that was a sure sign of a full restore being used but they didn't do it on 1 occasion through the run.

Also the final rival battle is pointless. You literally beat him 1 route ago and he makes no changes to the team at all, so you brush him aside like you do the entire game.

Ahhh well, now to complete the pokedex I suppose.

They need to make a Emerald remake on the Switch where you have the full stories of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, can choose to set the difficulty and choose whether you want newer gen Pokemon to feature at all and Pokemon Go style wild Pokemon encounters.

3 balls = Kanto, Johto & Hoenn.

Should mean that pokemon realised that everything they added after those are dog shite and they're expelling it all from history, making a 3 gen in one remake for the 3ds :drool:

What?? Black and White are probably best in the series, also X and Y are great games, SM is not the best though I agree.

Why are you the way that you are.

Sun & Moon were shit though tbf

Mmorpg, plz. With real time battles.

If only!

7 minutes is a lot of time for just announcing the 3 starters, I bet there'll be a short trailer in there to show off a bit of the graphics.
They might be discussing stuff for Pokemon Go and something for Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee. I'll be pleasantly surprised if there is a short trailer. I think they purely wanted to announce something on Pokemon's Birthday and the starters is the most obvious thing to do as it doesn't require the game to be completed to show off.

Just some raw footage to get fans excited about some graphical overhaul or something like this.

I had fun with them, and there were some awesome pokemon, but ehhhh, yeah, by pokemon standards.

I think it was the pacing that got me, I never felt like I could really get going with all the cutscenes. Gonna have to run back through to collect them all for my collection though.

I never knew why Gen 5 was severely hated. For me it's one of the best and probably the only time Pokemon actually tried something new in the story.

I always rate them like that :

1- Gen 4: HG/SS and Platinum
2- Gen 5: B/W, B2/W2
3- Gen 3: Emerald and LG/FR.
4- Gen 6: Very, very easy, more than the previous games.
5- Gen 7: Boring, too much hand holding and too much cutscenes. Only games in the series I'll never replay.

As for gen 1 and gen 2, there's no more need to play them with the presence of better remakes.
