Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

I just watched the trailer. I'm not really feeling it. Some bits look cool, but overall it's not making me want to play it or anything.

I think Let's Go looks far better overall with the art style and everything, this looks like a bit of a step back to me in a way, which is weird I know, but I get the feeling of a 3DS game. I know it's not final footage though.

My main wants from next gen:
1- A difficuly setting, nothing stopping them from adding it.
2- a badass rival, I hated the last couple of them.
3- a better evil team, the Sun and Moon evil team was crap.
4- more choices, looking at the map, the central area seems to lead to all cities so hopefully that mean we get a choice which city to explore first.

Actually I like the art style a lot more than Let's Go, we need rid of that chibi look and also I like the colour scheme, the colours in Let's Go are a bit bland, tbh this is probably a transition between 3DS and Switch, the next game should be even better.

I'm just not really a fan of the art style they've been going for in the last few games (apart from Let's Go). I don't really think it works well in the resolution and stuff that Game Freak seem to be going for. I'm hoping this one started as a 3DS game as I don't really think there's much excuse for it when you compare it to other Switch games.

I probably sound too fussy

I mean you don't want pokemon to be realistic I think, it just doesn't fit, I like it being cartoonish and colourful.

They should switch up the starter types. Do like Electric, Water and Stone.

You could have a started called Zaptile which evolves into Shockodile and then Electregator.

May have thought about this in bed last night.

By Stone I'm guessing you mean rock? Rock typing sucks, there's a reason they choose fire, water, and grass, all those types are good, not great.

I did mean rock yeah. I just think they've run out of ideas for starter types of those types now.

I mean ground/dragon/fairy/psychic/ghost are too strong for early game, bug/flying/rock not good enough for starters, only typings I can see for starters are water/fire/grass/electric, normal could work but is a bit bland.

Just switch around the wild pokemons in the starting area so that the new types of starters don't get to power through it

Mostly you're facing bugs and normal types early on. Fire's at quite the advantage there already.

All you need really is any type that normal attacks are effective against. Just avoid Ghost, Rock, Fighting and Steel.

Actually I think after my first rhn with the game I might actually do a nuzlock this time, sounds really fun but never tried it.

I was in my local game shop yesterday, endless copies of Sun and Moon, some in the limited edition steelbook cases, 30 euros a pop.

One copy of Heart Gold, 65 euros.
I think they just make more copies now a days
Sun and Moon sold 4 million copies more than HG/SS though.

There are a load of what I'm assuming are knock off heart gold and soul silvers on Ebay atm for about £8 and I've got to say I am tempted

It’s mad isn’t it, I picked a Heart Gold up for about 30 quid a few years ago and I’m sure not losing it now after seeing the prices.

So higher defense? Not sure what this will bring to the table. Were mega evolutions not enough?

They want to introduce something new every game. Kinda like Yugioh introducing new mechanics with every anime season.

They do something new each generation.

Gen 6 - Mega Evolution
Gen 7 - Z-Moves

This is just the Gen 8 new mechanic and probably won't go down well but I'm sure we'll grow to not loathe them.

Alolan forms and mega evolution were very well received though.

Not too fond of mega evolutions either, tbh. Would have been better if they were confined to the more shite pokemon, as a leveller.

The Alolan forms were great mostly, I thought. Especially Grimer/Muk and Marowak.
Alolan Vulpix was my favorite.

The artwork for some of the newest sets is incredible.

Have you seen the price of the rainbow one? The combination of it being a playable card and the charizard tax has made it a mental price

I pulled this one the other day which is my favourite artwork of the new sets

@Snowle Gunnar Solskjær I may or may not have purchased about 35 boosters in hope of pulling one... I've seen it's already going for $210 which is astonishing for a recent card - that's on par with some of the most sought after Charizard cards from the early 2000s.

The trainer cards look  - trainer Reds card looks awesome.

Hahaha the chase is brutal, especially in this set as it’s so huge. There’s 119 cards that could be in that single rare slot in the pack!
