Have you missed getting the persian?
Looks like it? I beat the Team Rocket boss that had a Persian that took a few of my weaker pokemon out with single Slashes! Where is the Persian you refer to? Expect I skipped part of Celadon City, which having read online is where the gym I missed is.
@Heardy You've just skipped a chunk of the story there. Go back to Celadon to fight Erika and TR.
I can't remember exactly off the top of my head, but I think it's before the cruise ship where a sailor in the town asks what type of pokemon you prefer. I think he gives you the Persian which basically acts like the bike.

You don't need the Persian, Charizard will fly you around quickly too, or Rapidash, etc...
You can also use Haunter or Snorlax, they're not any quicker than walking, but it's fun.
Cheers @Earthquake - how do you do this? Do you just need to get the pokemon to walk alongside, and you can in effect ride on their back?
Vermillion City. He's a troll and gives you a persian after getting you to catch 5 growlithes.
Go to your party and click on + on your joy cons for the pokemon you want to bring out of their poke ball to walk around with you. If they're big enough, you'll be able to ride them.

Yeah, done. I'll give you the Omanyte as soon as I get it over from Pokemon Go. Currently on streak and should be close to a shiny.

Can’t believe it I broke my chain after waiting ages for a shiny Psyduck to catch a dragonite as I couldn’t be bothered to evolve a dragonair. Straight after with no chain this cnut pops up.
Raticate is one of my least favourite shinys.

I did the same thing for a Dragonite and caught a shiny Charizard straight after.

That's to fly high, it'll fly you around quickly at near ground level right away(just for speed like the bike).

Just beat Giovanni for the 8th League Badge! Really enjoying the game - makes my commute so much more bearable! What are the average levels of the Pokémon League, or do they level up/down depending on the players stats?
Pikachu is about level 56 and my others are early 50s - wonder if I need to invest some time into farming / evolving others to improve my pokedex and levelling up before I take on the league. My pokedex is only 73 complete, so a load to add.

Any tips for shiny hunting? Is it just blind luck? I’ve not completed the Pokédex yet. I’m in a 37 combo bonus but feels like I could be here for hours...

Yeah takes a while, a lure helps things spawn quicker. Also you don’t need to go past 31 on the combo, the rate doesn’t increase after that.

Had any luck with shinys yourself? Randomly caught a golden magikarp rather than the traditional orange colouring which was kinda cool
That’s a decent result, the shiny gyarados is pretty great in red. I got a shiny ratatta randomly and a shiny Psyduck I actually hunted for. That one probably took about 3 hours
The only shiney I have is a Clefairy.

3DS didn't recognize the game at first plus it's fairly old and the wifi wasn't even compatible with my own, so I treated myself to a 2DS XL. Same day delivery
Feel like it's been an age since I posted in this thread, but I'm really enjoying Let's Go Pikachu. While it has its drawbacks, there are definitely a lot of high points and it's close enough to a traditional main series Pokémon game that I treat it as such. I took my time with the main story, but kind of blitzed the PokéDex in a couple of days after that (with a little help from Pokémon GO).
I think I will eventually go for the Master Trainers, but I find it impulsive to go for a Shiny once I'm combo-catching a Pokémon for the good IVs and Candy to do so
So far, I've gotten Shiny Nidoran M, Nidroran F, Magikarp, Shellder, Pikachu, Pidgey, Caterpie, Spearow, Chansey, Staryu, Rattata, Jigglypuff, Spearow, Abra, Diglett, and Grimer. Working on Gastly at the moment, which is a bit of a bastard.
