Sounds like the usual mind games from Jose. Pogba will be back shortly imo, possibly even for Spurs.

Once you tear your hamstring badly then your risk of recurrence is very high.

I'm going to say higher, rather than very high. Also, a very bad tear would typically require surgery for a professional athlete. Or be preferred I should say. A moderate tear can heal without any issues at all, as long as recovery is optimal and scar tissue is kept to a minimum. Let's assume that Pogba's recovery will be state of the art.

surgery is a mess for hamstrings. It is reserved as a last resort or for cases where the tendon is pulled away from the bone.
He will get the best rehab but just like the top sprinters it will be torn again.

Well good to see you’re as pessimistic as your name sake

He’s actually incredibly straight talking when it comes to injuries and availability. I don’t remember a time he bluffed.

I noticed Pogba abruptly took down an Instagram pic of him vigorously exercising, which suggests someone at the club had him take it down.

As per the speculation above, he might be seeing some sort of biomechanic specialist to see if they can find a way to avoid recurrence.

I guess. It's just that, going by Jose's comments, it doesn't sound like he's too impressed with the situation...and if Pogba's buggered off to America without it being on the clubs instructions then I can understand why.

He's already got a bigger question mark over him currently than anyone else in our squad for me. Well barring Shaw but I'm not sure there's any point even having the question mark with him anymore.

Then again with Jose it wouldn't be a surprise if he suddenly appeared in the starting line up against Spurs either.

Mourinho is clearly uhappy with Pogba being away in Miami. Couldn't have made it more clearer by saying he knows Zlatan is training hard while he has no idea about Pogba.

Pogba is playing with fire here.

Fellaini is also recovering in Belgium. Is Jose the grinch pissed with him too?

Some very obvious wums by a newbie poster have been deleted. Carry on with the discussion.

Interesting point, Fellaini was spotted in Paris. Media speculating a move to PSG. If this is true, Pogba might be a target as well.
That was a hotel in Brussels. PSG were there for their game against Anderlecht.

Fellaini is in Belgium for his rehab at Lieven Maesschalck's clinic.

Fellaini is rehabbing in Belgium. Pogba is rehabbing in Miami(where he has a home IIRC). There's not a chance that's without the club's permission. Mourinho's reply about Pogba and Fellaini's injuries have been more or less same i.e non-committal on both of them.

We are reliant on Pogba for his creativity for sure which is an issue given his inconsistency and now his recurrent hamstring problems.
Mata, Miki and Herrera have just not got the top quality to compensate against the top teams.

It will be a big problem for us if his injury period is much longer or he has a recurrence.

Different subject but I think we'll sign another midfielder that's Pogba like in summer to play in the 3. We need cover for him or at times someone who could play along side of him. The options we have currently whilst having qualities, we have no creativity from midfield.

I personally have written him off for the remainder of the year, anything else will be welcome with joy.

It's gonna be a long 2 months if thats the case. And City could pull further ahead.

We've looked half the side without him.

Surely he ought to be coming back soon, hopefully he can avoid any recurrences.

He played almost 55 games ( full 90 minutes except 1 or 2 times ) last season without a proper preseason. He plays too much...only Mourinho can avoid any recurrences.

Yeah, that was what I was alluding to. Dismissed it as tabloid bollox but if they’re trying to makeover his running style that would explain why he’s still in the states doing loads of sprints yet not able to do any ballwork back at Carrington.
Based on literally nothing scientific, I’ve always thought he has terrible posture and running style. He always sort of looks like he’s having to drag his body along with him when he moves.

We don't know well the nature of the problem. However, judging by the videos, he will be back in several weeks - if not for Chelsea then after the international break. He is sprinting in some of them which means that he should be a few weeks away from returning. Unless this rumour about his running style causing the problem is true. Then the return would be anyone's guess.

For football, is it even possible to change running style ? It seems nuts to me because you have so many other parameters into account than what the sprinters do.

This thread has crossed 27 pages without one official word being said about his return. This is getting tedious.

Agreed. But I don't think this is the fault of posters here.

He is the best player at the club who has had a mystery injury for 5 weeks without anything being said from the club. Now he is training in America, seemingly close to a return - or so his social media would suggest, but the communication from Utd is non-existent/minimal at best. I really hope there hasn't been a falling out somewhere here, I can't imagine Jose being the sort of manager to tolerate players going against his and his staff's word in the manner Pogba reportedly has (sustaining the injury due to overworking in the gym).

It’s a particularly bad hamstring injury. So bad that they considered surgery but decided against it. They’ve been rehabilitating it since.

Hope that helps.
