Would you accept Dybala and Sandro for Pogba?

News that RM are in discussions to sign Ajax Donny van de Beek is very encouraging.....

That must mean that they know that they cannot get Pogba or there are concerns over ZZ - it would be quite damning for ZZ as well as he wanted Pogba and not VDB

Defo think Pogba will be signing a new improved contract later this week now!

As far as I know -even though I don't know much-, there is interest for both Pogba and Van de Beek at the same time.

Only time will tell us whether this is true or not.

Could all be put to bed if Pogba just made a statement that he is staying. Why does Ole have to keep fighting his corner. Yes hes the manager and should back players but the player can also say something.
You don't respond to media speculation that way.

If you do that, next time they'd expect you to explain yourself publicly on every god damn action you make.

Have you ever known that to happen? Why does a player have to respond to media rubbish?

Well him and his agent were both willing to come out saying he wanted a new challenge/to leave, which has obviously been huge fuel to the constant “media rubbish”...people dismissing the Pogba rumours as all bullshit etc really need to remember this.

I would suggest this is just the start and Real plan on coming back with offers once our window closes. This is where we see if Pogba will push for a move even though we will not be able to replace him.

Why else would they wait this long? They've probably been working with Raiola in the background.

Then let them :D No way in hell we're accepting anything after our deadline.

Doubt Raiola would back such an idiotic strategy.

I wouldn't sell him for 250mil at this stage. He's our only creative player in midfield. Can't believe we haven't signed another midfielder by now...

That offer from Real is a blatant attempt at unsettling Pogba. I'm sure even they are not arrogant enough to think £27.4m and a player neither team wants is an actually realistic offer for Pogba in 2019's market. If FIFA and UEFA had any teeth, these kinds of antics would be considered tapping up.

No way that’s been offered by RM.....

Just one of their mouthpieces looking to unsettle the situation......

This is their style.....wait for RM players to start saying things like ‘it would be great if Pogba joined but he’s a Man Utd player at the moment so I don’t know’......

Maybe Mino will pipe up today?

I just hope that Pogba performs if he stays. Don't want him strolling around the pitch not bothering. He will definitely be going next season, so we need to prepare for this.

Yes I agree - this will be his last season - hopefully he accepts that and as an incentive we must qualify for champions league and then we will have a gentleman’s agreement he can go for said price. Gives all concerned time to get everything else sorted.....

However, I don't think he will ultimately end up at RM as don’t think ZZ will see out the season and he might not be what they want then.....

Let's reply with a bid of Phil Jones and a pack of space raiders.

Even want away Pogba would be insulted with that offer.

Bayern tried but the player and the club aren't arsed. We'd probably end up selling him to a midtable Italian or Spanish club for 20m euro. Shame for the lad who is 28 now, I think if his choice is Napoli, Madrid sell him at a reasonable price like Napoli has probably stated.

Madrid have been scuppered in their Pogba pursuit by Gareth Bale

They were expecting to get his £24m a year (gross - but that’s what it costs RM) salary off the books plus a reasonable sized transfer fee - that would have taken care of a massive chunk of the Pogba fee - couple that with James Rodriguez fee and salary then they could have made the Pogba deal work.

Salaries are fixed costs whereas the transfer fees are much more open to creative accounting and are spread over numerous years - therefore that’s how they are able to get around FFP etc

I think Bales Chinese deal was pulled at the last because RM knew that letting him go for no fee would make other acquisitions too difficult although removing his salary from the books would have made their accounts look better - him staying there really does make things difficult for them.

They are suffering from having players they don’t want on long and very large inflated contracts......sound familiar?

They are now desperate that they are offering derisory amounts + players....sounds like that offer came in on Friday - so it makes sense then that Pogba was ‘injured’ for the AC Milan game the next day - as was clearly unsettled - however you would think that his agent would have told RM you must make A bid of sorts as to date there had been no offers.....

I really really hope that Pogba doesn’t cause a storm after the transfer window has closed in an effort to force his way out - it would be very disappointing but with Mino in the background you know that something is coming.....

Pogba is staying, he's not going this window, or even in Jan ? Real are only club I think that want him, or could afford him?
I think he will get a new contract with us around xmas time. More money he be happy then.

It would be really funny if Pogba did go to Madrid, the poor form continued and ZZ was replaced by Mourinho around Christmas. I bet Paul's dying to work with Jose again.

Happened to mata

Just out of interest, serious question so please do not jump on me;

Has Pogba ever been played as a striker 9/false 9? in a really advance position? I know he played quite advanced for us in the City comeback but not really as an out and out frontman.

I only wonder because he has all the attributes to be a top, top striker, I mean really I could see him as up there with Ronaldo as a striker, and it would also allow him to drop out of play, not track back etc... I know he has more to his game, like I say I did not follow him in our or France's youth set up nor when he was with Juve so just curious has it been tried and failed?

Think he played as a 10 for a short while at Juve after Del Piero left but it wasn't a good fit for him, so would think being played even further up would be an issue for him...

I read somewhere on Italian media that Raiola is still busy trying to make the transfer away from OT happen. Problem is that both Madrid and Juventus are not in a position to make a satisfactory offer at the moment.
Should he moves (highly unlikely now) Madrid would be his preferred destination but don't discount Juventus.

That guy is a cancer on football, and I don't say that lightly. These agents who are only interested in making, in forcing, a client move, so they get their cut, are so disruptive.

He pretty much chucked mata out the door.

They didn't fell out. He wanted Mata as a sub rather than a starter there, which is what he did with him in United too. The only different thing back and then is Mata didn't like setting on the bench at Chelsea but at United he started to feel more and more content with having just a sub role and getting in and out of the team.

He would fail at (current) Madrid, or work his ass off during every match to even keep up with Barça and Atlético, and he knows it.
Tbf hed have casimero behind him do the dog work like kante for france.

I overheard someone say earlier the £27 million plus James Rodriguez was an incredible deal .

The last time Real tried to lowball us the player ended up staying with us and just signed a long term contract. I'm not sure they understand how negotiation works.

This is over yet. I can feel it in my bones.

Isn't over yet?

I really feel this is an unresolved issue and maybe we've buried our heads in the sand.
Yeah, some will say that we won't sell after the window closes or at this late stage, but its all about player power nowadays, and I still think its only 50/50 that Pogba is here at the end of August.
