Pochettino | Agrees to be US National Team Coach

Utd are ahead of Chelsea but let's be honest, deep down you'd be feeling far more optimistic as a Utd fan if you were playing how Chelsea have been. Over time the results tend to catch up with the performances, rather than the other way around.
Yeah after a game like today, but I doubt after a game like Brentford you'd say the same. The teams are at the same level to be honest, at the moment anyway. Chelsea may have spent more, but they have as big holes in the squad as us and they also don't have European football to contend with.

Chelsea had played several games against those big teams. I have to say I change my opinion on Pochettino. He is a very good manager. This Chelsea team could become a real force eventually.

Nah, Balex3 is right. They have played consistently better than us throughout the season, as the underlying stats clearly show, and that's with a harder match schedule. If the trend continues, they will eventually overtake us and finish several points ahead of us. Plus, their squad is a lot younger and more future-proof. They also seemingly have the superior manager. Chelsea have a lot more reason to be optimistic than United fans right now, sadly.

Aye, coming in here chest beating about being ahead of them probably doesn’t come from a place of reassurance. I get amadouche is massively annoying. But yeah we’ve seen This before (United 2nd/Liverpool 4th 2017/18) . You know in the long run who is better off. I always wanted Poch ahead of Ten Hag on a personal level and that’s cos I knew he’d produced the football in this league with inferior teams. Didn’t really care about the lack of trophies. Because at the minute a lack of trophies isn’t why and a lot of others dislike this United so much. It’s the complete and utter diabolical football on show.
Which many would disagree including me.

Poch is not Klopp. Klopp had trophies with Dortmund before this Bayern over decade long dominance in Bundesliga. Like it or not, Klopp knows to provoke the narrative about his team being the better teams, and opposition benefit from luck, the wind, grass... to get result against his team. Poch won trophies at PSG, but his lowering expectation style of management wouldn't bring confidence at the end phase of rebuild where there is expectation from winning silverware.

Issue with our terrible transfer strategy and lack of progress in our playing style is different than ETH's overachieving in his first season in PL. He bought time for this summer window, but it seems like a missed chance by the club.

Let's not pretend that Chelsea has not spent a eye watering amount to overhaul majority of their squad from 2 seasons ago. There is clear vision in their recruitment buying physical technical capable young players amidst of their chaotic change in ownership and shuffling through managers. And last but not least, the transition from core playing principle Tuchel to Potter to Poch is not as steep between Oleball and . ETH may fail and eventually may receive his pink slip if he stagnate with our current Frankenstein style of play, but it doesn't mean he can't be excused of having no proper support from DoF offering a big picture recruiting plan ( target alternatives).

@Solius , @CallyRed , @Champ, @always_hoping , @cjj , and so many on here.

Pochettino has schooled all the top teams this season without their main strikers and so many injury.

Not many managers can play like that against pep city. Only klopp and Pochettino.

Like I mentioned before, the underlying stats showed that chelsea is much better than they are. Once chelsea get a full strength squad that is when we truly see pochball

Your trolling doesn't work any more I'm afraid.

Idk … we had 80 percent possession and hit the bar like three times against Brentford? I mean that was a truly fluke loss. A majority of the game we were excellent, we just needed to increase the pace.

Chelsea has been playing well for awhile. If we can start to gel and finish we could be very good with Nkunku back and heading into the last 60% of the season.

Both Newcastle and Chelsea deserve to be higher. Funnily enough, if the trend continues, it's his own Spurs who would eventually drop down to midtable. As fun as their football have been, they've also been quite lucky.

Chelsea team struggle against teams defending deep, low blocks. They can match or beat teams that play attacking football. Same as we did with Ole.

Once they can beat teams in bottom half of table they can be the real force, need few more to fill the voids in starting 11.

Can we please ban this tiring, unimaginative, childish bellend.

Literally nothing to suggest that. As I said, they are level pegging as it stands.

The only thing Chelsea have to be optimistic about over us is they'll likely keep throwing money the squad until they get it right. With the sale up in the air, I don't hold a lot of hope for us.

It's not a flukey loss when you don't create anything and can't defend transitions. We should know, we've been playing like that for years.

When we have our first choice back line available, we'll be better too. Hojlund should start scoring eventually too. We can all hope to improve as the season goes on.

To all my haters

Chelsea have ‘schooled’ Liverpool 1-1, Arsenal 2-2, and City 4-4. Granted they beat Spurs but they’re hardly a ‘top team’ even if their manager is hipster flavour of the month.

Is that the Thomas “we smashed them 1-0 in the first half” Frank school of delusion?
What am I missing?

No, actually, playing a lot better is a decent reason to be more optimistic.

Just to be clear on the point of this thread, are we watching for when he loses his job or are we watching his testicles?

I think it’s confusing a few people

Don't want to get into any comparisons but I'd take United struggling in the table if it meant guaranteed entertaining and attacking football. Chelsea may be starting to get that with Poch?

It seems like some people would rather watch and or lick his testicles than watch Utd.

Poch' is just, just beginning to get some identity to their game. Poch' has done the right thing and has embraced and empowered their young squad... lots of energy, loads, very effervescent. He also seems to have rejuvenated Sterling, and Thiago Silva (who is a brilliant footballer). They definitely need a No 9, I'd go for Tony if they cannot get Ohsimen from Napoli.

I fear they're a little ahead of us.

There is no guarantee with that without actual squad building plan/ aka the way this club operate.

I meant Chelsea had been already deep in squad building phase regardless of the manager, even when writing off last season. They bought players, planned for sale without waiting to confirm the new manager.

As seen with his PSG tenure, mismatch in mentality/working culture can render Poch's ability useless to implement his vision.

Harder match schedule what?
Can we wait until they win two games in a row here for feck sake?

Sure this game, they were rubbish against the 9 men of spurs playing kamikaze football. Remember they only got a point out of this game, hardly a turning point in the season.

There are two significant differences here,
1. Chelsea has a completely new squad with young promising players excellent in both technique and physicality.
2. They play toe-to-toe against those opponents.
It’s still a long way for them. But once they gel, their fans will be excited.
Their transfer strategy at least is aligned to a vision and their execution is not bad. It just shows that we have incompetent owners and DOF. I of course blame more on the former because our DOF works with a lot of constraints imposed by the owners.

not sure what I said that prompted this response. Just agreed with a post that anyone with eyes can see is the truth.

It’s also not lowering expectation: it’s seeing the bigger picture. Winning trophies over a sustained period isn’t possible when you’ve not got the fundamentals right. You don’t actually compete for anything significant. And a few lucky draws could end with you winning a cup and then immediately falling off a cliff.
And I’m sorry but not having this ‘excusing the crap football on a lack of a smooth transition from one manager to a next or needing 20 transfer windows’.
How many times do United fans want to use this excuse despite seeing so many example of other clubs and new managers having near instant impact. Villa went from being absolutely nothing to what they are under Emery. Spurs went from three managers playing low block/low risk defensive football to hiring Ange and immediately playing a high transition, high press and high risk game.
Why is it only at Man United a manager can’t implement a style ? Why is it always at man United he needs 17 transfer windows and a good manager before him to do it? Maybe just maybe we just keep hiring the wrong managers….

I don’t think nice ever seen anyone try and spin their 1b transfer shit show as some kind of vision journey when they’ve had 4 managers in two season while sacking their back room staff, hiring more and then sacking most of them.
It’s like people talk in cliches here or simply make stuff up

You seem really hurt when the others say some positive views on our rivals.
You just simply need to believe whatever in your mind. It’s ok for me.

Honestly mate. This thread, and honestly all the Chelsea related threads, have become so boring. It’s one obvious troll shitposting and 50 posters dunking on him with the same predictable shit over and over.

That was one of the worst City performances all season

Funny how that's been said about City, Arsenal and Spurs when they've played us this season. If only there were a common denominator to explain why that happened... :wenger:

We've had no problems showing up against the top teams and playing some good football in those games. It's mostly just the low-block park-the-bus teams that are causing us big problems in attack but on multiple occasions we've looked very competent in the big games.

should have been banned ages ago its an obvious wum
It’s not even a wum, it’s just a bit of a sad guy who has found a way to get attention.
