Gaming PlayStation 5

Really bummed about the games leaving PS Plus in Extra.

Spiritfairer and Nier Replicant are both games I was planning on playing so will have to play them now. But the big one is Forbidden West which they really don't need to remove - I was holding on to that as the one really big game on the service that I had kept in my backlog. Will have to play that now within the next month too.

Edit : Midnight Suns too.

So essentially one has put down the games they're playing and play these quickly instead.

Skip Horizon. It sucks.

Last I checked, I thought that was meant to be a Xbox exclusive?
It was in June 2023 but things change.

Doesn’t look great to me tbh - albeit just based on mere trailers. The animations especially during the first person perspective look clunky and the writiing comes across as iffy. Doesn’t help that it’ll always get compared to Uncharted.

I agree - it looks like the kind of game that would have made a good week long rental in a bygone age. I like first person perspectives in general but I have seen a lot of backlash towards that.

An uncharted comparison wouldn't be the worst thing for the devs/publisher to play up imo given that there's nothing comparable on the market that I can think of and Uncharted 4 came out eight years ago.

It was, the big announcement yesterday (alongside the Xbox release date) is that it's coming to PS5 a few months later.

Other than Silent Hill 2 (which everyone should be pretty skeptical about) there's not a lot i'm really interested in for the rest of this year sadly. The Casting of Frank Stone could be interesting though.

This is exactly why I don't like these subs and never will.

That rumour has been doing the rounds for a while now and doesn't seem to be going away. A lot of sources seem convinced it's real.
It would make sense as it’s the next most beloved one and Square need the money, but I hope they don’t give it the FF7 remake treatment as it wouldn’t suit it at all.

I agree, I think it would lose a lot of its charm. I'm not a big fan of the FF7 remakes and when I think about the title I'm more inclined to replay the original over replaying the remake.

Combat could use an overhaul though. They should make the battles/animations faster at least. FF9 is fairly slow.

Very slow. Ff9's battle system was much too slow in just about every way. Great game otherwise, looking forward to the remake, whatever form it takes.

Yeah, I just saw a few FF content creators speak about it and hype it up a bit more.

Apparently it wouldn't be FF7 remake style. They'd try to keep it authentic with the cartoon style and turn based still but a bit faster like Persona.

A FF9 remake would be great. I really enjoyed it. Would love a FF8 remake too.

But give me a Dino Crisis 1 & 2 remake like the Resident Evils :D

What's the craic with this monkey game? Any good? And why isn't it available on disc?
Disc is being released later,

I've just finished dragon's dogma 2, played as a Mystic Spearhand it's a very similar fighting style.

Dubbing is off and it has invisible walls, but it's pretty good if you like that RPG action game.

Spent 2 hours trying to kill the first boss, two hits and dead.

No chance. The first one was really good and it’s a shiny pretty PS5 game so I’m going to play the life out of it. Sadly I’ll have to buy it as a month isn’t nearly enough. I was contemplating the PS4 version as it had a free upgrade but I think I’ll just pick up the complete edition (digital) with burning shores as it’s only a little bit more.

It’s supposed to be very good but a bit buggy on consoles. So might be worth giving it a few months. The game itself looks really good to me - both combat and visuals.

I really liked the first one. Just think its a really, really weak sequel. Play it for a week, you'll be ready to move on after that. Don't spend money on it for god sake

I don't think I will personally. I expect it to at least be an 8.5 for me.

I mostly get time to game on weekends so a week for me is two days really. Will need to buy this.

It's a great game, storyline isn't as good as the first imo.

However, it's beautiful, the world is amazing. feck, I want to play it again now

Honestly I thought the story of the first was just about good. The main draw were the visuals, combat and world design, and I expect that to be the case here too.

At least read the thread. https://www.redcafe.net/threads/horizon-forbidden-west-ps4-ps5.463057/page-18
I was more critical of it than most but the general response wasn't positive. Its miles off an 8+
Honestly, I'd rather not. I like to play games I'm interested in by listening to reviews I trust that don't spoil much and go in as cold as I can. I really liked the first as well as it's DLC and tbh, Sony's major titles tend to be my jam even if some absolute all-timers (like HZD IMO wasn't quite but a lot of GoW games are). And I can't see any reason of having a PS5 - which I know I had to have - and not playing Sony's first party titles that also tend to support the dual sense features.

Btw, it's got an 88% on metacritic and mighty rating on open critic too. Either way I'll know soon enough how I feel about it.

Its mostly talking about mechanics but i get your point. Go in with lower expectations, i'd probably rate the first a bit more than you but feel similarly in general. The combat in particular was a massive let down in this. Its a very pretty game at least

The big letdown for me was melee still, they'd improved it but not a great deal, who even really cares about melee anyway when you're fighting robot dinosaurs

Agree with you. Thought it was a very average game

Had it bundled with my PS5 and was the only game I had so played quite a lot of it (35 hours) but it was very boring.

Why was Dino Crisis mentioned? Is the remake finally happening?
