Gaming PlayStation 5

I've found someone who got a pre-order from GAME for in-store collection. Does anyone know if I can just take his receipt and rock up and buy it myself?

Do you know/trust him? Couldn't he phone up the day before and get a refund?

He's paid the deposit, he said the only details they took off him were his first name

If he’s not paid in full then no you can’t as store is only open for people who paid up and booked appointment between 8am to 2pm.

You would have to wait till lockdown has ended.

Thanks for the info. I guess it's too late to pay off the balance in full now and book an appointment?

Just got my Argos text!

Cone on DPD feck it up and deliver early!

What’s the cheapest way to get Cold War on PS4 and PS5. I know I could wait a week but I don’t want to miss the first weekend with everyone being on the same level

Yeah. Deadline was last Wednesday.

You would have to now wait till stores reopen as they are keeping preorders for those who could not pay.

Are we expecting Amazon to take the money the day before when its shipped, as i need to know when to transfer the cash into that account.

I saw on Reddit s post from someone who spoke to CS and they said if your order is for delivery on the 19th they'd try to take payment on the 17th. Make sure it's in the bank a couple of days earlier I'd say to be safe.

Have you played it? I want to miss it.

So how important is HDMI 2.1? I have a Samsung series 7 (think it’s NU7100 2018 model), I believe it has HDR on it, do I need 2.1 or will this be fine?

Very good question.

I have a Samsung UE49NU7500 'Curved HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, 49" with TVPlus/Freesat HD, Dynamic Crystal Colour & 360 Design, Ultra HD Certified'

So I assume it has all the tech it needs? But I don't know the difference between hdmi and hdmi 2

Yeah I think mines a similar one to yours? Maybe a slightly older model? Who knows I find it all so confusing, but it apparently has HDR and is obviously 4K so I assume it’s gonna look class regardless.

You reckon I would have any trouble in principle for turning up after lockdown with someone elses receipt? He said he's paid a tenner obviously I can pay the rest when there.

Maybe its just something for those £1000 tvs. Not fussed if so

It's all about the refresh rate. HDMI 2.1 will allow you to hit up to 120fps and is necessary for 8K which isn't really that relevant on this new generation of consoles. Will probably be for the next generation.

Doubt it if they only got his first name and you basically paying for all of it.

HDMI 2.1 is only important if you want to play games @4k and 120fps. You can still play games at 120 fps using standard HDMI. If your Tv supports 120, of course.

There will be very few games on console that do 4k/120. So you won't be missing much. My TV does 120 but only at 1080p.

Aaah I see, how would I find out if my TV supports 120 FPS? I assume most games ain’t gonna be doing that at the mo anyway.

Very few TV do. I know the LG OLED's do. If your TV was cheap, it probably won't. However, you're right, 120fps won't be much of a thing this gen. I think it's a thing while the games are cross-gen.

I don't understand all this tech bullshit anymore

Think my TV is 100hz, 4k, HDR. Don't hunk it was hdmi 2.1 though.

So what am I gonna be playing games in? 30fps + 4k ?

60fps and 1080p?

Or is 60fps + 4k possible?

Aaah okay cool won’t upgrade then as tbf my current tv is nice and it’ll be a massive upgrade anyway. Cheers!

My PS4 reckons my current tv doesn’t have HDR but I definitely claims that it does so one of them is lying.

I’m guessing it depends on the game, but I’m not sure either, maybe things like ray tracing will be turned off if 4K and 60 FPS, is it fair to say some games might actually look a little nicer as an experience in 30fps?

Depends where you order it. No chance for Amazon but some places might.

ShopTo.

Maybe I'm reading into it, but they must be confident about deliveries. The cut off date for payment to guarantee pre-orders for day one was 31st Oct. Now it's saying the 8th Nov as a last guarantee for day one. Think there's something in that?

No chance your getting them early from a high profile UK retailer they will of been made to sign agreements.

From what I've read and seen I think I prefer the look of 60fps without ray tracing. The 30fps with ray tracing appears to make every surface a feckin mirror.

Not sure about if they are all hitting 4k though.

Consoles are the new PCs ffs, I just want to sit and play with the best settings, not having to tweak shite.

120fps is only really relevant if your into proper competitive gaming it gives you an advantage a very small one at that but still.

Its not for the people that want the prettiest games it will follow the pattern of pc gaming where you play at lower settings for maximum framerate.

I take it you saw that Spider-Man footage with ray tracing and without it earlier? The floor looked way too shiny

Yeah the benefit of the console is not having to think about it for sure.

Haha, Ray tracing is exactly what it says it's tracing rays of light like they would in the real world, so the lighting mirrors reality.

Yep  think it was Spiderman footage the other day where all you see is reflections. Just looks well overused just to show it off at the moment, used more subtly it would be cool. Or even use it subtly for most the game then have a level which really showcases it, so you'd have a mega "wow" looking level / segment / area.

I have never given a shit which consoles AMD GPU is 0.01% faster than the other consoles AMD GPU.

But the recent loading time comparisons make me want to claw my eyes out. I really don't give a flying feck if one console loads Fortnite 6 seconds faster than the other.

Wtf reality is that? alternate dimension where everything is made of glass and is perfectly polished all the time?

It looks pretty but it doesn't look real.
