Do you think they will allow scheduled updates to be set like on ps3? The low power mode seems like something you don't really want to leave it on all the time you aren't playing as the fan is still going in the standby mode.

It shouldn't be and hasn't happened on mine, it's an ARM chip like you find in a mobile phone or tablet, it doesn't need active cooling unless it needs to invoke the APU for something.

Okay. I'll have to put my ear up against it next time it's in low power mode. I'm sure I could hear it making a noise yesterday a good hour after I'd put it on standby and I had no pending downloads.
There is currently no real reason to put it in standby at the moment other than slightly faster boot times, background updates, and remote play on functionality. When games can be jumped straight back into though then it's a bit different. I agree though, a set time of day for checking for stuff would be a nice option to have. It's interesting some of the things that they have put in and left out (priorities) due to time constraints of getting the console launched.
Does anyone have an idea of when Amazon will dispatch their before Christmas orders? Still no delivery estimate.
I got an email today with a revised estimate for 17-27th of this month.
Couple of sites guaranteeing orders to arrive before Christmas but what games will be out before then? MGS5, The Order - what need is there to get it before Jan at the earliest?
People keep coming up with this argument... It plays the big muti-platform games better than any other console. I suppose that you don't play the likes of FIFA, CoD, Battlefield, Assassins Creed, Need for Speed, etc. etc. etc. though? As for exclusives on XB360 and PS3, you do have GT6 and the new Ratchet I suppose.
Im still having some trouble with this Black Flag discount, I redeemed the code, I even went through Uplay account registration too just to be sure and it is still unavailable. However all the extras are showing now on PSN to download which they were not before so the code definitely redeemed okay. Im hoping that it just takes time to show up as being available to download and that I will be able to do it this morning when I go on.

Err, when I check the webpage it says delivery estimate is 7th of December. Not sure which to trust but from experience Amazon have always delivered a few days before the estimate.

Wow the eBay thing is mad. I put the killzone bundle (not the mega pack just the 1 controller and the game) on an auction for 99p for 1 day. Someone offered me £500 in cash and collected within half an hour. Worked out I'd have needed it to sell for 580 plus postage if someone had won the auction and paid via paypal. £100 profit for buying something by accident? Why not!
Mine is the 13/14th and I ordered just before the deadline, whereas I'm nearly sure you ordered way before me; so the 7th sounds about right.
NBA 2k14 is by far and away the most next gen game available on this console. It's simply magnificent, I've been glued to it these past two days playing with Houston Rockets, it's extremely well executed and bang on addictive. I'd recommend it even to people who have no clue about basketball (like me).

FIFA is great and really good looking but NBA is on another level I feel. You definitely get the feeling that FIFA on PS4 is a completely different kettle to the PS3 one. Gameplay wise both are excellent.
I don't think the difference in Fifa is as big once you get into it.
You're still most likely to score from a rapid winger putting in a cross to someone with great heading/jumping ability or from lobbed through balls. The passing and AI defending is better though.
I think it'll go up a gear next year similar to the way Fifa 08 jumped up to Fifa 09 which was one of my favourite sports games ever (despite the halfway line goals).
You get the feeling it's a different game though. Much better looking and play far more naturally. There'll be some improvement but it's already excellent.

I have 3 weeks off between 20th and 7th of January and I wanted to play till my eyes bled, but Sony had other plans and my girlfriend loves them for it....
If Driving Club was (as intended) a launch title I would've got one. FIFA is hit and miss so don't get it every year, not getting it this year. Assassins Creed I got just after it was released so no need to get a PS4 just to play it, rest of the games you mentioned don't interest me one iota apart from GT6 which is only coming to the PS3 anyway. Actually, has it been released today? I think it was a wise decision to leave it a month or two.

I noticed that my PS3 slim did this the other day, it was in standby and the fan was still going. It's just getting rid of the heat inside the box until it turns the fan off.
