Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Like any electronical device there will be a percentage of failures, there doesn't appear to be widespread issues at all.

Does anybody have proper experience from Battlefield 4 on PS4?

It's the first time I'm more excited to play a FPS than FIFA.

It looks and plays really well, I'm absolutely terrible at it though and barely get to a 0.5 K/D ratio.

Is it true that there's no party mode in it - so you can't search for games with friends?

Not sure, haven't tried it as I don't know anyone who plays it. I've seen people mention something of a sort so it might be true.

It's awesome and apparently I'm better at it than @Sarni.

Haven't tried it either. However as I understand, there is no way to "party up" before entering a game. What you can do is join a friends game, which will then put you in your friends "squad". That squad will stay together as you search for games.

Sounds needlessly complicated to me, but you can still search for games with friends it seems.

We have a new feature in Battlefield where a new squad is created when a friend joins your game. You can toggle this option on or off by going into the options menu. We’re not offering the old squad join feature because we didn’t feel that the feature in Battlefield 3 was on par with the quality that we wanted to offer our players. We have no plans to add it in the future.

- That's DICE's official response to questions about the squad system.

I'm usually shit as well until I adopted some decent strategic tactics, I am now relatively hard to kill in FPS games. Just think that you're in war yourself and how you would act in such a situation, try to have you back covered at all cost and strive to flank people rather leaving yourself open. Also, try to go into a game only aiming for heads, it's a great way to gradually and comfortably lift your aim that extra bit to make you more lethal. Lastly, always stick to the mission and surround yourself with team mates. General rule of thumb in FPS games is, whenever you kill somebody, think of how you killed him and what he did to make it happen, i.e. what could he have done better? Oh, and try to dance sideways back and forth in a quick fashion while shooting/getting shot at, a moving target is so much harder to kill, even if the movement is minimal.

This is good advice, also tap fire... don't full auto. Unless you're up close, going prone or crouching is a good way to increase your chances of survival...

My system is struggling to run a game with live streaming and flicking in and out of messages tonight. All that ram!

I think I'm going to give Killzone's single player a good go tonight. Haven't done anything on it since the first intro thing with the little kid. I'm in a graphics whore-type mood.

Anyone else gone through it yet? Impressions?

Indeed, crouch at all times, unless you're doing a sprint. One lesson I've come to learn the hard way is to always seek cover while reloading, been killed far too many times while reloading to make the same mistake again.

How many single console multiplayer games are there at launch?

Will the likes of GTA 5 be released for this at some point? It could sway whether i buy one or not.

This isn't based on any hard evidence, but I'd be surprised if they don't do a "Game of the Year Edition" or some such for next gen consoles and PC in the future.

fecking hell, even though I've decided to hold off for now, it makes me squirm knowing that I don't have one and yet issynazar has three of the buggers

My FIFA14 and extra DS4 (blue) controller just arrived, they will haunt me until the console is here.

I have been blown away by Fifa 14 on the PS4.

I expected a graphical improvement, but some of the reply/cutscenes in game are beautiful. Love the extra detail to the grass aswell, simple little things like that make a decent improvement IMO.

The third one was a genuine accident and the second was courtesy of Alock when I knew I wasn't getting a release day console.

But yeah I suppose I struck lucky in some sense.

Really starting to regret having not pre-ordered one of these now!

Any idea how long it will take for bundles to become readily available in stores? Will there be any incentive to wait until the Jan sales - or will it be mid-Jan before pre-orders are all settled? How long will it take for the price to come down - six/twelve months?

It is only on the shelf, the price wont be coming down for a while. A long while! Sure for a next gen console it is not all that expensive. You could probably grab one before Christmas but you need to keep an ear to the ground for stock levels at your local stores. When the next batch comes in it will fly out as quick as the first one. There wont be consistent levels of stock on the shelf until the new year some time I imagine.

Cheers Sparky.

To be honest, I didn't expect the price to come down that quickly - I expect there will be a backlog of orders into the New Year. I just hate the idea of getting stiffed only for them to drop the price a few months late.

I will probably wait until the New Year now as whenever I try and speak to anyone in a store, they are clueless as to when they might have availability until all pre-orders are satisfied.

Thought mine was broken. Twice it has turned off for no reason

But I found out there is a setting that if you leave it for 40 mins with no activity it will power off. I often leave my console on during the evening so this is what happened.

I'd just noticed this morning, that the receipt from my PS4 pre-order I made at Xtra Vision a while back, in fact had 'Xbox One' under outstanding item's. Rang my local store up to inform them and a mistake was made. The fella switched it to PS4 with little hassle.

Lucky I bloody checked though. I would have been fuming if I got a call saying 'we have the Xbox One in stock'.

It's very purty. Nothing ground breaking gameplay wise though. Fun enough to play.
