Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

feck sake I wish we had ASDA in Ireland. All the Irish retailers have been utter wank so far with giving any launch details out.

Sparky, do Argos do preorders?

No they don't. Now there is a rumour on boards.ie that a reservation system for the PS4 will go live at some point before launch, how true that is I don't know. There certainly sounds like there may be some knocking around Tesco the night of launch, I might go down to Tesco in Dundrum seeing as they are 24 hour on the night of the launch to see what is cooking. If no joy I might give argos a run in the morning when they open.

I don't even have a delivery etimate yet, the webpage says: "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

I ordered October 31.

Pardon my ignorance but what does the playstation app has to do with this?
Nothing but I don't see point spamming 3 separate posts when I can include it in the same pos

Sorry for the confusion

Certain ASDA stores will have stock on launch night/day:

fecking hell I'm so tempted.

My Asda is one of them, if my amazon order hasn't despatched Thursday night I might go down Asda first thing Friday as it's not open midnight

I just read online that some people have been using the playstation streaming feature as an amateur porn setup

There was a report a few weeks ago about Ireland having the most pre-orders per store (Gamestop I think it was) of any country in the world.

I know, recession my arse. I didnt think I would have the money to pre order one when I had a chance to a while back but as it turns out I do have the cash for it now. Bah, may as well give it a whirl on Thursday evening, I might get lucky.

That's very late!!! I think after mid August or so Sony were not even guaranteeing delivery to stores for Christmas. I ordered mine early in July. Come Saturday they could have sold through 2.5m of them worldwide (Black Friday in the USA + PAL + 1m+ they have already sold in North America), their sales forcast is 5m by the end of March.

I'm starting to have a few regrets about cancelling my Amazon pre-order. I probably would have most definitely gotten a PS4 before Xmas. Then the other side of me is saying that I made the right choice, for now. Besides the overwhelming excitement of getting the console, I don't think there's any games that justify the price tag just yet.

You'll miss nothing really in the first few weeks, you'll probably appreciate your choice when you finally buy it.

Nah I love getting new stuff.

Cant wait for thursday night and even though AC4 and Ghosts are only a slight upgrade from Ps3, I havent played either yet, so they are 2 games I will get a lot of time out of .

Hopefully Killzone will be good too.

I only ordered cause the 'deliver before Christmas' promise was still on the product description. I would be extremely disappointed if they don't keep that promise because if I knew they were going to be late, I rather spend a slightly larger amount for the domestic product.

By the way, are you a shareholder in Sony? Should've invested some before the launch, but then again, share price might've already been inflated due to expectations.

Me too, usually. It felt like a really self righteous decision to make at the time, but after actually cancelling it, I was like feck, what did I just do?

Ah well..

Can anyone shed any light on the PS4 Camera. Is it worth a £40 investment or is it just a pure unnecessary gimmick for someone who will generally be playing multiplayer online stuff?

I wouldn't bother, never owned one but I bet you get bored of it after a few hours of use. If you are a multiplayer online then you have no use for it. I'd opt for using that amount for an additional game instead, or.. you know, save it.

Can I use it to swear at people?

Ordered it from Tesco last week where they had a few stock, luckily i got one in time and it has been despatched now. I already sold the horrible Knack game on Ebay too for £40.

Overall, net purchase of £330 ish. Happy with that :)

We just moved into a new place, so the wife has spent a ton of money on renovations :(

I've made sure I've pre-ordered though, and we're only expecting it in SA around the 13-15th Dec.

But now with my limited cash situation - (I plan on getting the PS 4, 2 controllers and the eye) - I can literally only afford to buy 1 game.

Seeing as PES14 isn't going to be released on PS4 , which one of COD, Battlefield or Killzone do you guys think I should get?

I'll most likely use it mostly to play "multiplayer" with my mates and online as well.

I've played each one of them before - yet I'm fairly indifferent towards a favourite because I never played online.

I think you should avoid COD, as it has horrible reviews from users. Battlefield has the best reviews of any game on Next gen so far.

Battlefield 4 no doubt.

Better graphics, larger maps, more options, bigger player setups and more realistic than COD.

Thanks for the response bro.

Aargh, for some reason I was leaning towards either KZ or BF.

This might be a stupid question, but when I say multiplayer, can you and 3 of your mates all play in a 4-way split screen both against the AI and online in all 3 these games?

Nope, you can't split at all in BF4. COD on the other hand, maximum is between two.

Not to me, everytime I've tried split screen gaming it takes away the vast majority of enjoyment. I rather take it over the internet to play with friends, I'm the type of gamer who needs my privacy and take gaming seriously.

I sold my consoles a while back as I mainly do gaming on a PC, however a mate offered me a cheap PS3 and I thought it would be worth it for a £20 as he's throwing in FIFA13 with it, which obviously I could play online.. I had a few questions though...

Is it worth even paying a £20 for a PS3?
Can you still chip the consoles fairly easily or is it hard to find someone usually now?
Will the newer games still be released for PS3, or is that hopefully skewed?

20quid for a PS3? and you're still asking if it's worth it? Hell yeah.

Still selling around here for around 150quid second hand.

Ah thanks ok, it wasn't so much 'is it worth it', but if it's dead technology as in games have stopped being released for it, then I may buy and sell on  He does this often when he is short of cash.

Any idea about the chipping or future games? Thanks for your response by the way.

20 quid for a PS3 is a great price no matter how old it is. No idea on the chipping, in regards to the games I think FIFA 13/14 was the last game released on the PS2 so I'd imagine they'll be releasing games for the system for a few years yet.

Really helpful, thankyou Levo...

I'm not from the UK, before you make some assumptions from my responses btw

I'd say 20 quid is a steal tbh. You can still use it as a blu-ray/media player and the games will definitely not stop coming, not by a long shot!

I'm pretty sure the future titles will be almost exactly the same as the PS 4. They'll develop titles for both platforms. Maybe not ALL, but a high percentage I'd assume - I remember the same happening on the PS2 as my friend didn't get a PS3 until a good 18 months after it's release.

I'm not too sure about the chipping in the UK - guys are still doing it here but if you plan on playing online games, then it's a big no-no.

It's a tremendous deal, PS3 has an amazing library of games and will be a superior console to PS4 for a considerable amount of time. Why would anyone be selling PS3 for £20?

Don't bother with COD, it doesn't look next gen at all and is generally a poor game.

People are bonkers when it comes to 'getting things first'. Just seen a ps4 with Killzone and a camera go for £870, titled 'in stock now'. Like seriously, over a two day wait or even a month wait, someone would pay an additional £400? Mental.

Short of cash mate, he's a strange lad... earns a lot but burns it every month and always sell's electrical things for silly prices.... Got a PSP for a £10a about 3 years ago... he sold me a brand new MacBook for £150 after spending £1300 the previous month, just cause he was short of cash  Mind you, I still stand there bartering .... I think I enjoy it
