Grats on the new job Sarni!!

Now you can buy an Xbox One!

Thanks. :)

I actually tried to search for one but I guess I shouldn't be spending money I don't yet have (other than savings I intended to put aside to redecorate my flat a bit around February). I'll get one when they bring them to Poland officially, if I import I won't be able to use warranty and it's a risk I don't want to take. If they can get slim ones without Kinect into distribution for around €350 next year I'll be aboard.

You can't use the warranty if you import a region free console?

That's shit.

I don't think I can, they won't pick it up from Poland for repair and I'd have to deliver it somehow to them but I'm not sure how they'd send it back etc. It was pretty difficult the first time when original Xbox hit the market, I had no issues with mine but know people who had and they either had to wait up to 3 months to fix it or couldn't deal with it at all.

I'm not going to be earning enough to write off a €500 purchase if things go wrong.

I don't start my EU Law module until January, but it doesn't really fit with EU laws aslong as you were to import it from Europe. I know there are some exceptions with electrical products though, so I'd have to do some more research.

Saying that, their original console model (DRM stuff) wasn't compatible with EU law either.

If you can give me some background on it I'll re-consider, although obviously it'd be much more convenient if it were officially available in Poland and I could just take it back to the store in case something went down.

We weren't even in the EU yet when the original Xbox was released, we've been in EU only since 2004.

Game left me a phone message yesterday to let me know they've very kindly reserved me some PS4 pack which costs 460 quid.

Seeing as I ordered the basic console-only package, as I don't want any of the launch games, I'm not too pleased. They had better not tell me they don't have enough basic packs to go around as I ordered right back on the 5th of June.

The shit money grabbing over pricing twats.

It could have been worse, they could have cancelled the order.

Same thing happening over here with Xtra Vision, something to do with Sony not sending any basic units only bundles.

I was going to resist for a while but there's no point. I am going to get it within the next 6 months anyway and the price won't drop, actually the bundles that are being offered at launch are great value here. If I can manage to get my hands on the one that includes both Assassins Creed IV and Killzone I'll probably pay less than I'd in 2-3 months (less than €480).

The fact that I just got a job today which has more than doubled my salary obviously helps making such decisions too.

Great news Sarni...
Always great to get a new job that gives you more money, only bad thing about it is that having to work takes away your playing time..

Yeah, I was going mad staying at home all day in my previous job though (I've done most of my stuff long distance so I worked from home), I guess it's going to be nice to be among people again having graduated from university a month ago even if it reduces the time I can play. I'm still going to have two full weeks with PS4 before I start the job at 16th, then a week off between Christmas and New Year so it's all fine. :)

Can't do that with me as I already paid up in full way back. They sent me a text message yesterday though telling me to go to the shop and pick up a reservation card or whatnot which apparently gives you discounts on PS4 stuff before and after Friday. Luckily the shopping centre is right in front of where my son does his football training, so while he was doing that I popped in to see what this meant. This particular shop didn't have any reservation cards, they had not been sent from Madrid yet, so he told me to come back for midnight Thursday!

Still a bit miffed about the differences in price between UK/US... we pay over the odds for everything it seems. I usually shop overseas (ebay, family, friends, etc.) so may do it again for PS4...

You wanna complain about paying over the odds?

The difference is like £36 I believe. So 10% more.

I shop a lot on ebay so I get to see a variation in price between different countries, 10% in some cases, as much as %50 in others... it is what it is... what's the problem with me pointing it out?

Prices get jacked up so much in Australia, it's ridiculous. I shop on Ebay and ozgameshop. Online is so much cheaper than retail stores here.

Yea I heard you guys get it really bad... Definitely better to shop online when you can, speaking of which, I'm hitting the amazon Black Friday sales right now. Got two great deals already this week.

Prices are stated as net in the US, you need to add tax depending on where you're from/where you're making a purchase. VAT is over 20% in all EU countries I think, it's mostly around 10% in the US which makes a big difference.

Argos have my order packed and ready for delivery on Friday. Just send it now you bunch of squares!

I was only joking when I said that you should get an Xbox One; not trying to convince you dude.

I mean the original Xbox One details - the whole DRM, not owning game licenses, not being able to trade freely etc.etc. was against EU Law. But yeah, any product you buy from the EU should be covered by 2 years warranty. The only issue I can think of might be the power supply, if it's not compatible with the region, would they treat that as misuse on the consumers behalf and therefore void the warranty?

Not sure. I'll check it out at some point.

Still no dispatch estimate from Amazon, cnuts.
As long as you have delivery estimate it doesn't matter

When did you order?

Are any shops going to have these on the shelves, or is it strictly pre-orders?

From what I hear of people I know working at supermarkets, there may be a handful available at midnight but it seems a long shot. 3 people have told me today that they've been upgraded to Killzone packs at Game in Leeds, but also said that they didn't want a bundle package but they're going to go ahead anyway because they want the console that bad.

I'm pretty happy i bought myself a 3DS and a Vita recently. Got so much to catch up on, on both devices that i won't be pining for a PS4 for a good while yet. And then when i do get one, i have a Vita to use with it!

I don't even have a delivery etimate yet, the webpage says: "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

I ordered October 31.

Pardon my ignorance but what does the playstation app has to do with this?

Some places will have them but you will have to be quick and probably lucky.

Cheers. I don't desperately want one, but I'd probably buy one if they're in stock. Hopefully they'll have better bundles after xmas.

If you aren't in a rush then waiting for the likes of Infamous and Driveclub makes a ton of sense, especially given stock will probably at a premium until February pretty much everywhere by the looks of it.

Oh feck sake I want this, I am all jealous now.

So I knew that I said I would never buy a console at launch but I changed my mind. I want it. Now.

So I have resorted to chasing retailers to see if there may be some going on launch day that you could queue up and buy. Chances are very slim but why not I guess? However they are all as useful as a chocolate teapot, none of them seem to know what they ordered, what they will have or what they can sell. Even Sony Ireland are clueless at the moment. It all seems to be a bit all over the place to be honest.

Best bet is Asda now. I have 2 stores within 15 minutes of my place and both have stock with a first come first serve rule.
