Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Does anyone else find this Share joke ridiculously shit?

You just know Weaste is fighting so so hard not to bite.

He loves it.
(That's Weaste Photoshopped onto it BTW, don't know if it's noticeable :P)

You're refering to the lights? Yeah they are a lot cooler than the 4 LED's we have at the moment which were particularly stupid when you could connect more than 4 controllers. I still meet people who think the most you could connect was 4. fecking annoying.

And yeah if it flashes red when you get hurt in a game that would be cool, or blue in other situations like healing/in cold water/frozen by magic/crouching in skyrim...

Less of a gimmick than Nintendo putting a tinny speaker in the controller. Thats annoying.

So overall, I am in favour.

You amuse me so much! True Weastite

Flashing lights, SHAREbuttons and PR departments designing consoles. Yep, this is the best generation ever!!!

Industry Standard Architecture
Sony, finally, is making a PlayStation that’s easy to develop for with more RAM than a Titan. They’ve done well in the past with consoles that were a nightmare to code for, so I’m interested to see how this plays out for them.

Ooooooooh

Unlimited Cloud-based Processing Power
The real eye-openers will come when Sony starts building games that utilize the Gaikai server farm for the heavy-lifting. Granted, all games won’t work this way, but the ones that do should be quite revolutionary. Even still, there’s a chance that disc-based games could be enhanced with the processing power of the farm in connected cases.

Ahhhhhhhhh

Lightbar on the DualShock 4
This lightbar has 3 LEDs which allow for millions of possible color combinations. This can be used in soooo many creative ways it almost hurts. First, a different color could designate players 1-4 in conjunction with on-screen graphics. The light can flash red when you’re hit, filling up a dark room with light. The cameras can track the controller, so if an in-game character needs to talk to one of four players, the character will look directly at that player in the room. Also, in conjunction with the speaker built into the controller, this could be use for some amazing 3D positional sound effects.

SHINY STUFF YAY!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I will obviously sucker myself and get one of these, but if you think any of that is amazing then you really have no gaming soul!

Problem is Redlambs is you keep talking about the trivial shit that Sony have stuck on to please the unwashed.

It's all fecking trivial!

But hey, at least I know what I'm buying right? It's still my choice.

But let's see how trivial it all is when you are moaning that games are still as expensive as they always were, and you can't sell them or buy second hand or borrow them from friends...

And as I say, it's just the start. You'll be moaning soon enough

Personal attack?

Dont worry just keep doing what you do

Don't tell me I've upset you?

There's nothing personal in this, it's a fecking games console! That's the problem with getting attached to a brand name. You really shouldn't read neogaf then

I don't know what upsets you more, my words or the fact they are true. But I didn't mean to offend you, however I've done it :)

How often do you look down at your controller when gaming? I don't think I ever do, in fact I'd be annoyed if I had to, that's what the screen is for.

The PS4 controller has a speaker in it.
What exactly is the point of having a speaker in the controller?

People have a tv/sound system setup for sound they don't want a shitty speaker making noises as well? I could see a headphone jack or something on the controller being semi useful to stops cords being run across the room, but not a speaker.

It's probably for online multiplayer game chat where your friend's voice doesn't come out from the tv but instead from the controller (if you're not using headphones). But yea it's a shit idea because I don't play multiplayer anyway.

Doesnt the Wii remote have a speaker in it?

I was reading last night too that the Ps4 has a sensor similar to Kinect. Is this true?

Anyone else cringe when your man said "synergy between the user and the console", whenever I hear a word like synergy I automatically think, "They are bullshitting us".

100% agree. Don't get me wrong.

I do a lot of split screen gaming (its basically all I do) so, having proper colour coordinated controllers could be useful. Useful, just a tool.

And flashing red when hurt and stuff would be a cool gimmick. But it would still be a gimmick. Thing is, I really like the Rumble. Hated the PS3 controllers without it, mostly for racing games.

Hopefully this speaker, for what ever they used it for, is better than the speakers on the wiimote.

Agreed, hitting the woodwork in Fifa just isn't the same without it. :(

Though I suppose now we'll get a sort of "clank" from our controller speaker in stead. Exciting times!

Yeah the rumble was sorely missed. I used to use it on Gran Turismo aiming to clip the rumble strip on the apex and it just felt right.

It was the same with losing HP in some games. If you were hit enough to lose a bit of HP, rather than flashing up on the screen all dramatic, a little buzz was more than enough to indicate it to you.

In fact why the feck did they get rid of it? Space for the wireless?

At the time of the PS3 release they were being sued by another company over the rumble/vibration technology, so they had to take it out. It got settled and they could start releasing the dualshock 3 as originally intended.
