Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

must have been 2 then, it was one of the Halos anyway!

Yeah, 2 destroyed all that was great about 1, and it's way people can't see 1 as the amazing game for it's time that it was!

But in their defense, at that time they were just trying to hard to add features and mix things up, but it ended up unbalancing the game.

Ahhh, it's funny but I actually thought Drainy was right till I Googled it. Also anyone recall that Library level? Talk about high octane adrenaline raising stuff. All without loads of weapons and regenerating health. Clearly the series has been dumbed down for kids.

Again, what?

I didn't say it was

OK maybe it was spooney.

Anyway give me some games from the 90's on consoles, which you feel have not been improved on or have been dumbed down.

Zelda and Mario games are still my all time favourite games. But I am not sure if now that is down to nostalgia reasons.

You used Aliens as an example of shit nowadays. But games based on movies have hardly ever been good.

There is a wide range of great stuff that have come out this generation and that also includes indie games like Braid and Journey being given a platform that before was not possible.

If they had of been PC only games they would barely have been heard about.

Halo 1 and the whole series are similar in difficulty level.

Weaste, you can't just post in the Watch Dogs thread and think that's okay. We are waiting.

The longer it goes on, the funnier it is.

Oi, Lambs... what do you make of Ouya? Any promise that'll give the games market a shot in the arm?

I think you've missed the part where regenerating health and bucket loads of weapons were mentioned. You're not bright Flagg. Clearly the first one was more difficult... subsequent ones have been too easy.

What are you even talking about now? You want me to go dig up ancient games to try to prove they haven't been bettered?

Oh and you do realise that there have been much better and smarter aliens game than the last two console efforts, don't you?

Having played them all apart from part 2, I see little or no difference in difficulty.

Yes I do, because I want examples of how games have been dumbed down.

It really is, he obviously wants to be posting in here, ramming down PS4 facts down to people who didn't ask for them, gimping up the superiority this machine has over the spackbox 720. But I suppose there has to be something seriously wrong for him to actively avoid posting in this thread, despite no doubt reading it throughout the day.

Can't you alter his permissions so he can only see this thread and nothing else? :smirk:

Oh for feck sake, not that again

It's been done a hundred times on here, it's right in front of your own eyes when you play the games! Go look at the skyrim thread, the last couple of pages are interesting if you really are that bothered

But I am not wasting my time going over it all again, let's just leave it at you are happy with games and gaming and I'm happy that you are getting enjoyment out of them. I genuinely am btw, that's not any kind of dig! I wish I could go back and stay out of the industry and not have to see it all going on, I really do :(

Yeah its all good.

One last thing though, you must be a little pleased that small indie games are getting a look in because of live and PSN. A lot more people get to play these games now and surely you must think that is a good thing?

Of course I am! Those sorts of things are my roots!

BTW that isn't new, the PS1 had the Yaroze which I'm proud to say I was a big part of :)

Regenerating health isn't the problem in my opinion. Of course games like Half Life, Doom, Quake are classice that didn't have it, then games like Halo introduced regenerating health and finally we are left with 'cower and regenerate' games.

But the idea of regenerating health is alright, it's just the extent of it. When "all" of your health is regenerating, there is virtually no continuation from one bit to the next. Even Half Life and Quake had points where it gave you all of your health back, to level the game again, but not at every point in the game.

Library was whee the flood appear and chase you about isn't it. So many deaths playing that level

I think Quick Save and Quick Load are a problem too to be honest. There is no reason to have those over a 'Prince of Persia' style "you can only save in these areas". Even for RPG games like Fallout and Skyrim, it's just cheapens the game a bit: *Quick Save, take on Giant Spider, "Ah I won but lost a lot of health, I'll retry it", Quick Load*.

Why not have save/load points only at certain points in the map. Before a dungeon, in certain rooms in a town, etc.

well, if that is what you want to do then that's your choice. If you reloaded and beat it in a better manner, at least you used your skill to defeat the enemy well.

Skyrim has regenerating health, btw- so if you almost died to the giant spider it doesn't matter, just wait 10 seconds and you be at full health again. (or since everyone has a cheap healing spell, just use that)

Ni No Kuni is the only game iv'e played recently like that. Can only save freely through the menu whilst in a town, outside or in an area you only have save points, of which there is about 1 or 2. It's a fecking ballache.

I agree and not. What was wrong with save game places? If done right they provided a proper balance between continuing on from a feck up, or restarting. And Aye, with Skyrim I was thinking more using potions/weapons/arrows up and shit

It's not very well done then I guess. Prince of Persia was a bit different in that you could literally rewind time, so weren't constantly restarting from miles back. But still, there is no need to be able to restart anywhere at any time in my opinion

I do agree that having designated save points in dungeons is better than quicksaving, but I'm just disagreeing that it is a serious problem with modern gaming, whereas regenerating health means there is no punishment for poor play as long as you survive. In conjunction with quicksaving it is an even more major problem because games can just become a deathzerg to the finish

Of course it's not more powerful than any PC!

I actually own a gaming PC btw ;) I just get sick and tired of PC gamers wading into console theads and chucking shit around the place with a smug sense of superiority.

:lol::lol: Right on cue!

I own more consoles than you probably ever will though, just incase you think I'm a PC gamer only. So don't go trying to tell me PC's have only just caught up with the last generation ever again, because if you own one you'd know they were ahead of them at the start!

But fair play to you fella for getting straight in here, fair play :)

Now where do you stand on flashing lights and SHAREbuttons?
