Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

I'm intrigued by the new controllers, especially if wireless. More tempted by the first one posted.

After using the Xbox elite controller, the ds4 feels so light, small and flimsy.

I don't have one, but what kind of noise? Fan noise?
Im not sure, its not like the old ps4 fans which you could hear ramp up. It just seems odd how it stops and starts on different screens. Perhaps like a coil whine but its not a high pitch whine and not that loud, hard to describe. I know someone on avforum has it as well. Just interested if others have it. Not noticed it on any other games.

Edit: searching seems to indicate coil whine on some pro patched games.

Thought it might be that. I'm not sure on Sony's policy, but a graphics card with coil whine would, in the majority of cases, qualify for an RMA. Might well apply here, also.

So are they wireless or what?

Me too, bud. I'm about to get a Pro and looked to see which games I could/would be willing to trade in with my original. I had one.

What you up to at the mo? Still on ESO or playing more VR stuff?
Still in and out of ESO, xmas fest on at the mo. Other wise 40% VR, 60% everything else. What you up to?

If it is only coil whine (which after reading more posts and seeing a video) dont think I'll bother changing it as was more worried it was something to do with the fan. Seems to be quite a few people with the issue even after several replacements. Dont remember titanfall 2 causing the issue.

When you getting the pro? You got a 4k tv for it? Im loving how sharp games look. MWR is far better on pro as no jaggies or shimmer with 4k tv. Just wish it had uhd bluray :(

Finishing off my Christmas shopping tomorrow, so might pick one up, depending on the cash situation. If not, I'll grab one in the January sales and maybe get a few quid off the current price.

Yeah, just recently got a Samsung 40" 4k.

Fingers crossed you dont get one with coil whine if you get one. Cant wait for horizon zero dawn and days gone to push the pro.

Might get a pro in January too, more so for VR not too bothered about 4K just yet... Give us a shout when you come back @Brocky

About to pick up a few games in the sales, Ratchet & Clank (Used to love those games), Hitman Season 1 (Looks decent), and The Order 1886 (Might aswell give it a go for the price). Store has decided to bork now so will do it later instead. Any of those 3 I should definitely miss?

Also looking at Doom, Project Cars, then the store died. Bastards. Any other suggestions welcome.

Order 1886 had too much cinematics and less gameplay. Check reviews on that one before buying.

Lots of good deals in the sales imo. I ended up buying, dying light enhanced edition, salt and sanctuary, resident evil 4 and ratchet and clank. I'm pretty happy with that.

As with doom, even though it's £20 in the psn store, you can get it for £15 in argos, have also read it's the same with sainsbury's.

Store working again now... here;s what I'm looking at

Ratchet & Clank - £12.99
Hitman Season 1 - £23.99
The Order: 1886 - £12.49 - As @Krovv said, the reviews are pretty poor, anyone played it and have anything positive to say?
Project Cars GOTY: £15.99 - Got great reviews and has a massive saving in the sale
Homefront: The Revolution - £9.49 - Sounds ok, but average reviews, anyone actually played it?
Knack - £4.99 (Can't believe this still hasnt been a ps plus freebie!) - It'll probably be free at some point  and sure R&C will be better
Mortal Kombat XL - £14.99 - Never played a fighting game in years...nostalgia.
Batman: Return To Arkham - £21.49 - Never played any of these.
Rainbow Six Siege - £15.99 - Is this online only? Like the division?
Uncharted 4 - £22.99 - Played the first 3 and enjoyed them, just never got around to picking this up.

I never know what to buy, usually end up buying complete shit and never finishing them

Yeah, this is a pretty good sale, can't find the xbone sale yet. So I'll probably spunk all my money on the sony sale as MS are too slow/useless.

I looked at doom too, but thought about it being cheaper in the shops, the thing putting me off with project cars is GT Sport is just around the corner I think?

Going to check out salt and sanctuary, never heard of it.

I haven't played any of those ganes except uncharted 4. If you've enjoyed the previous uncharted games... especially the characters in it, i'd defo recomnend you pick this one up.

I've purchased hitman and R&C, those were pretty certain for me, think @swooshboy had good things to say about hitman, and haven't seen a bad review for R&C, plus it's only 4 pints.

That Salt and sanctuary looks pretty cool, and I don't know why  How much was that?

Salt and sanctuary is meant to be a mixture of dark souls and castlevania which sold me on it immediately. Dunno if you've played any of them

Out of that list I've played R&C and U4. Both are superb, get them

I've got Mortal Kombat and it's a lot of fun. Good story mode. Batman is very good too, but maybe not quite as good as the 1st two in the series, but I'd still recommend

The Order is a bad game, that looks vet nice. The story and setting do redeem it a little. And its an easy plantinum

Not played the others. Hitman Is meant to be good, Homefront and Knack meant to be awful

Cheers, pretty much confirming my thoughts on most, the setting is what grabbed me for the order. What's so bad about the gameplay? Not much of it? Clunky? More QTS than actual gameplay?

These sales always end up costing me a fortune

Just stumbled across some resident evil 7 videos on youtube, never realised how great it looks :o Although it looks nothing like the past resident evils, doesn't seem much shooting stuff, just walking around being scared  Also, is Resident Evil 7 the VR thing too? or is that different?

Hitman is very good - The main criticism people had was it being released in an episodic format. I actually liked this, as it meant you replayed each level much more than you would maybe have done if you had every level available. These games reward replaying - as there are so many way to achieve the objective.

It also had some issues at launch, where if it lost connection to the servers it would kick you out of a mission - even though it is SP! But that was all fixed so now works much better.

Absolute bargain for that price!

Yeah, I just need to download it now  Enjoying R&C atm though

£8 = 3 pints.

Oh to live up north ;)

£2.72 a pint of Guinness :) Now you see why I'm an alcoholic, I can afford to be!

Its a decent 3rd person cover shooter, it doesn't do anything new gameplay wise and At the start its a bit: walk down alley>cutscene>walk down alley> etc at the start. But i felt the negative reaction to it when It came out was a little hyperbolic. It rivals uncharted 4 a s the best looking game out there for sure and the gun play is fairly good.

Pros
Gorgeous graphics
Interesting setting
Decent voice acting
Decent storyline

Cons
Some bosses are boring & needed more work
Cutscene heavy at the start
Interactive items are just there to show off the lovely graphics and have no relevance to anything
Bad stealth section

The bosses are all the same and are all terribly done

It's cut scene heavy at the end too, in fact two chapters of the game are cutscenes only

It's like they forgot to make the game itself

Can't believe the Uncharted collection is only £20 and I haven't played them before now. Brilliant games. Just started the third now after completing the first two. My only complaint is that the game mechanics can sometimes be really clumsy.

Where? I need to finish it before I go back to UC4

If you like online and FPS game then I would recommend R6 siege. It is just different experience with a lot of strategies but requires some learning first. It is not like the Division as it is not open world and there is no campaign. There is only a very short campaign called situation.
If you like single player definitely go for Uncharted 4, one of the most amazing game in PS4. You also got MP in Uncharted 4 which is nice as they have the typical MP and also the new mode survival.

Anyway, I am new in this community. Cheers.

Great deal at Smyths. PS4 slim + FIFA17 + Unchartered 4 = 220 GBP
