Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Pretty much as expected tbh, roughly the £350 I guessed.

Now, do I buy it or not? :/ Really only 4k which is the sell point, along with VR...

Am guessing rumours of them bumping the specs up to compete closer with Xbox Scorpio were unfounded.

Reasonable price, but want to see the specs.

No real reason to buy at this point, might take a dip next summer when the benefits start building up.

Yeah, totally forgot about that.
They did say it will enable developers of PSVR titles to use higher frame rates and/or better resolution for the games.

I think if you want to get PSVR, then it makes sense to get the Pro as well.

I couldn't care for much other than games at the minute on consoles, which is their main pull. These events just remind me how disappointing the games on the current generation of consoles have been. Nothing groundbreaking or new - the best games have been reboots and sequels.

Gimme a fecking new top game, not the ability to record myself playing a game released 5 years ago.

I think that's slightly harsh, there have been some great games. Witcher 3 is imo the best game of all time. I agree there's not much groundbreaking which may change when VR becomes mainstream.

Weird. No mention of VR

Well they talked about it a lot during E3.

Plus something like VR can't be promoted via conferences or trailers. People need to try the actual devices themselves.

The price was decent.

Wow, so it doesn't UHD blu rays.

Even the Xbox slim does. What's this nonsense?

I know but with release not being that far away you'd have thought they would want it to be in peoples minds even if they don't have anything new to show.

It's most likely true. As they would have announced it as a big feature.

It's basically without any significant advantage if you don't have a good quality 4k TV. I'm perfectly happy with my 1080p TV which I only bought less than 2 years ago and I enjoy current PS4 graphics so it'd be pointless to change. Money saved.

Depends.

They did say developers can choose to increase frame rate which you would benefit on a normal 1080p player.

How much can graphics improve anyway? Look at Uncharted 4, Horizon, the new God of War, Tomb Raider. Can graphics really improve significantly from that?
Console-wise, I mean. I'm not bothered what PC's can do.

Mental.

So if you have a Sony 4K TV

And want to watch Spiderman Homecoming in 4K

You need.... An Xbox One S

Plus it's £100 cheaper?

I think we've been treated to some great games, namely The Witcher 3 which is easily in my top three of all time. GTA 5, Inside, Fallout 4 and Uncharted 4 are also brilliant games. We've also had some great indie games.

Every fecking generation people ask this

The answer is always yes. Yes they can.

I can't believe people thought there would be little improvement over PS2/Xbox generation, there was plenty of room. It's a valid question, there comes a point where people stop bothering with minimal improvements.
