Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

No signs yet. Square Enix though, don't ever hope or wish for anything from them and just be surprised when you get it.
 fair enough, Google suggests the last word was January and the open letter they issued sounded promising but the fact there's been nothing since then doesn't exactly give confidence.

I'm considering giving away my PS4 to my brother-in-law in order to free up some time for reading books and undertaking other career related education. Would I regret it? Out of sight out of mind is what I'm hoping for.

What about your brother in law?

Does he not need to read or undertake career related education?

Are you better than him?

The Order looks great but supposedly it's just a load of interactive cut scenes with the odd bit of shooting and just pressing triangle from time to time to do things. Apparently there's very little freedom to do anything.

If it wasn't for the fact everyone that has played it has said it's pretty rubbish I'd be quite excited for The Order. I'll probably get it anyway because I don't think a lot else is coming out in Feb now. Regarding graphics I did think the trees and foliage look as good as I've seen in Uncharted 4 but Drake didn't seem to look as good in that E3 "in game" footage. Still looks very good though.

Yeah, the gameplay looks generic as feck but lets be honest. We could level similar criticisms at other great games in recent years, Bioshock, TLOU, Gears etc.

TLOU was far from generic.

The main crux of the gameplay was pretty generic, no? Take away the story, the characters, the atmosphere and it's nothing more than a solid game.

I'm just saying that could end up applying here. The corridor shooting scenes look so boring but you don't have that sense of foreboding, of horror, yearning to know more etc. that you might if you actually played the game. Mixed in with set pieces like that werewolf scene and potentially the boring gameplay could be just a vehicle for a great story.

TLOU, I guess, gameplay wise, it's not outside of the box or anything, hate to use the word, but standard 3rd person action adventure. I mean, it's the best one in an age, perhaps the best ever(I couldn't say as I don't extensively play the genre), but gameplay wise, I don't think it redefined the genre, even if it's absolutely fantastic to play.

Right gents, is it worth me investing in a PS4 for Christmas, and if so what games would you recommend?

What kind of games do you like?
Well I reckon i'm going to go GTA V and either Fifa or PES.

I'm more interested actually about online - will spend most of my playing time online to be honest. Do I have to pay for PS Plus to play online or is that just an addition if I want the odd free game etc? It's not a deal breaker but just so I know.

Yeah you need it for online play. If you like racing games get Driveclub it's very very good and the online problems from its launch are no longer an issue. If you loved the old ps2 pro evo games and don't mind either spending a few hours editing or playing with shitty kits then I can't recommend the new one highly enough it's back to what made it great again.

Ok, well I'll sort PS Plus out. Yeah reckon I can get about 90 quid for my current 360 and stuff so enough to get 2 games to start up. I know more people who have Fifa but would prefer PES to be honest, like editing tbh - hows the online gameplay? Think GTA V is a must, even though I've already completed it on 360.

Driving games I will take or leave to be honest.

Shadow of Mordor! I haven't had as much fun playing a game in a long time.

To be honest, at least for my first 2 games I'm just torn between PES and Fifa, again due mainly to me thinking PES will be better gameplay wise but probably having more people to play Fifa with online.

I finally have internet on my PS4 again. Do people still play clubs/gta online on PS4? :)

Alien Isolation is on the 12 deals of Christmas through the PSN store. Has anyone played it? I've read mixed reviews, is it worth £24.99?

"If you miss out, PlayStation are promising to sell 100 more of the rare machines at full retail cost over Thursday and Friday too".

Any information on this?

Will be selling some online next Monday to Friday is what I last heard. I'll be trying my hand at getting one.

I'm grabbing this at this price.

Fwiw it's 22 in cex. A better offer if you don't mind it being second hand.

Have you played the game? I'm just trying to get some feedback before I commit to a purchase?

No. I've heard mixed things. It's the sort of game I'll grab a few months down the line when there's no new games and its dropped below £15.

My left thumb-grip is on its last legs after 6 months of use. Had to replace my PS3 one's twice but I can see these feckers been a pain in the arse.

I've been waiting for mine to start to go, but no signs of wear on mine (5 months or so use). I heard that they have changed the consistency of the rubber on the thumbsticks now to address the issue - seems as though the newer ones are harder / less tacky?
