Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

The stupid thing about this whole argument is that he's already acepted that the GPU in the PS4 is just about good enough, and we both agree that the CPU is shite.

The PS4 is great for the money.

You know what sticks in my throat, that poxy laptop CPU. It's not strictly a gaming machine, and the problem I have is it could do all the shit it wants to and play even better games if they'd just dropped the extra multimedia cores, bumped the clock and made the case a touch taller. But noooooooo, it's all about the apps and multimedia and streaming shite that it doesn't even do yet!

Why is 1080/60fps even an issue? Why can both the PS4 and Xbone not achieve at least that on a regular basis without fecking around? The graphics level is already 2 years old, so surely they could have sorted that CPU just a touch?

Bottom line is that both Sony and MS know what's coming and they want to consolidate. It's shit.

Coming back on topic, which are the best nub covers to get for the controller, I'm coming from Xbox 360, anyway to get XBOX One pad to work on PS4? I'm not sure how I'll feel with the ps4 controller. Also thinking getting the destiny bundle as its the cheapest, not into that type of game, how much could I get from selling to game or something brand new

Why? Why do I need to spend more?

My base PC was bought 2 generations ago, I bought a gfx card last gen and spent that money this generation. My machine beats the PS4 by a very long way, hands down. So how, exactly, is it that I need to spend any more?

I'll only spend more if the later games get graphics mods worthy of it. Otherwise to stay on level my spending is done.

It's far better than having to buy a complete new system that can't even play previous games now isn't it?

None of this matters. How may people in the real world have a PC with 8GB of GDDR5 at 176GB/s. Not a lot! How many laptops have that? Your argument is ridiculous.

I still haven't fully got to grips with the PS4 controller at mine, and the Xbox One controller has become my favourite ever I think. But, the Dualshock 4 is definitely very good, much better than the PS3 pad - though not quite as good as the 360 one IMO.

PS4 controller is a vast improvement over the PS3 controller. I thought I'd have that issue coming from the 360. But I found the controller to be very good and the bumpers better than another consoles controllers bumpers. But that is my opinion.

You sound like a Dell salesman.

GDDR5 is nice and all, but memory clock speed isn't king. The amount is. That alone is proven by them losing money putting that extra 4gb in. Remember when I was explaining to Alock and Cider and all that why 8gb of DDR3 is comparable to 4gb GDDR5 in terms of a game like Red Dead or GTA? Well that little memory trick in the one spooked Sony enough to double the memory and risk shortages.

Why? Because shared memory sounds nice, but faster on chip cpu cache or anything that simulates it negates a lot of that. Sure I'd take the PS4 layout over the Xbone every single time, but it's not comparable to the PC layout with a decent set up CPU in the same way is it!

I have 1800mhz memory, 8gb of it. That's more than enough for anything this gen and you know it. Plus for the cost of a game I could add another 4gb whenever I want and have larger better textures that load as quick, if not quicker, than the PS4 depending on how the particular game handles the transfers.

It's all opinion really, I think if you were a 360 gamer you will naturally gravitate towards liking that style of pad a little bit more and vice versa. Both have great controllers this gen though which is a bonus, opens up the choice for PC gaming.

So why are we not getting a thread ban for the PC lot?

DO NOT ban Redlambs (he gives a lot), but smack his bum with a whip.

I'm talking PS4. I don't give a feck about the PC or XBone in comparison, it's you who wants to go through that!

I've contributed more actual PS4 facts on this forum than anyone, including breaking the memory situation before any other site, so get off that horse.

That's the bottom line. Like I say, I think the DS4 is atleast very good. Whereas I use to absolutely detest using the PS3 controller and have one of those shitty ones which tries to mock a 360 pad. It was shit too, but the lesser of two evils for me. Hated using the DS3 whenever we did co-op or multiplayer on the PS3.

Bingo.

Oh and @WeasteDevil calling an argument on then running to a mod when he gets his arse spanked. A new low!

Yep, I enjoy the PS4 controllers for games like Dark Souls and Fifa. Tried playing the other consoles controllers with Dark souls on PC and was impossible with the bumpers. But for shooters and racers the other consoles controller is better.

My opinion. Don't shoot me @Cock17

Yeah the DS3 feels really weird now, the DS4 has spoilt me.

I've heard you can get an adaptor to use a Xbox one controller vise versa are they any good, also how much do you guy think I could trade the destiny game in for unused.

Lastly someone on this thread mentioned good quality nubs, got a link?

See how you get on first with the DS4 before worrying about that. I don't think that many people have huge issues with the PS4 controller to bother with that.

Or have you already got an Xbox One controller?

No, idea how much for trade as the price hasn't been released. But I doubt it will make any difference if it's sealed.

But I don't think GAME will accept it anyway as it is a bundle copy, which will most likely have on the box not to be sold separately.

Just stick it on Gumtree for £40 on release day. Someone will buy it.

Intellectual really? more like nerdy, why don't thenmods add PC to the ps4 v xbone thread. And leave this thread for actual ps4 console, accessories and game condition

Just completed Tomb Raider, really fun game. Enjoyed it more than I expected. The gameplay was pretty good IMO. Loved using the bow

On to Black Flag now. Bought that on the PS store last night. Big fan of AC games so I'll enjoy this.

Is the Vita worth the money if I only want it for remote play? I have no interest in playing outside of my house or no real interest in Vita games, I just want to use remote play while watching TV at the same time.

Black flag is excellent.

Well, it either that or an Xperia smartphone with one of those DS4 brace contraptions, there is no other way to do it, so I guess it depends on how much you want to do it.

When they release it on other phones (assuming they still plan to) I will do that aswel as Vita for remote play.

Would only need to buy the brace as ill have a DS4 already and itd be much better for shooters.

Oh. I'm sure that they said in the past they planned for it to hit other brands of tvs, phones and laptops later on.

He said they might look at it.

I don't even know how it works on the two Xperias, is it embedded into the OS or is it an App? Does it go through the PS App? We can see on VITA that it works like an App, but do you downloaded it? Can't remember.

It can be an Android app and still only compatible with Sony phones.

Oh lordy!

It's the whole dynamic nature of the game. Nothing's baked, nothing's faked. We run everything real-time......One thing you can see, everything's reflected in the road surface. We're not doing this just locally to the track surface. You can fly out as far as you like. It goes all the way to the top of the mountain, so if the sun pokes through you'll get massive highlights where the rock formations are. And of course all the materials interact differently. The grass gets wet differently to the rock, which is different to the tarmac, which is different to the plastics....We've got a deferred rendering system, tile-based rendering system, a forward rendering system, all mixed together just to get all the variety you can [have] in certain situations and put them together......We'll be adding things like screen-space effects to actually get all the water droplets on the screen. We'll get the wind-screen wipers working [too], that'll have a full simulation pass so that you get proper droplets," Perkins explains, using his own, private debug build to demonstrate. "It's all modelled. Because of the atmospherics system, everything has to be modelled. It all sits in and writes at the same level. It's one of those things that's really subtle and helps tie it all in.....It's a mixture. There's a pixel-based system that we're using, there's a temporal-based system, there's FXAA and there's actually a material-based system as well. We've only got four systems in place and we've got another for the key points that we don't quite hit. We obsess about the small details, so we're getting another one to go on top of that, to get on top of the very final image quality issues.

Jesus that looks amazing. 30 fps or not I don't really care with those visuals.
