Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Velocity 2X which PS+ is getting tomorrow has just had some excellent reviews, lots of 9 and 10 out of 10's, looks promising.

Contrast - Pretty poor
Resogun - Excellent
Don't Starve - Decent game, nice change of pace
Outlast - Not played yet but highly rated
Dead Nation - Average, didn't really need a PS4 version
Mercenary Kings - Good game ruined by grinding and load times
Stick it to the Man! - Underrated
Trine 2 - Not played yet, decent reviews
Doki-Doki Universe - No idea what it is
Strider - Not played yet, appears to be alright
Towerfall: Ascension - Not played, excellent reviews
Fez - Excellent
Road Not Taken - Not played
Sportsfriends - Don't know much about it
Velocity 2X - Reviews just in seem great.

So thats the PS4 releases for Europe since launch (not including all the PS3 and Vita games), assuming you had your PS+ since then for just over £3 a month thats incredible value. I've still a ton of them on backlog too and I love having a console backlog.

Certain things from the high-end PC version have been removed haven't they to keep it at 60?

To be honest these redux ones seem to be coded pretty badly. From what I've tested on my rig, tessellation is fecked and there's something screwy about the shadows. They self cast, but only to a few feet from each character. If you manipulate the camera right, you can see them act like a cardboars cut out.

The very original's engine was great, if pushing it. The PS4 wouldn't run that at 60fps with everything maxed I can tell you that, this seems like a bad port of that with better textures.

Speaking of engines, I've been playing the updated doom 3 recently. Now that was an engine. It's also funny how that game was considered very simple when released yet (after the likes of HL2 which wasn't exactly rocket science) by today's standards the gameplay fits right in, if not better than most

Progress right?

I've given each of them a shot. Dead Nation and Resogun are only ones I enjoyed a bit

I had played fez before and that is decent

I'm not going to be able to complete Metro on Survival without breaking half of my house in anger. I'm restarting the game in Spartan mode, should be less frustrating. I got attacked by monsters, running out of filters and attempting to find a way outside, it was just too stressful.

Give it another go mate I've just completed it. There are a few challenging areas but usually you just have to do something slightly different. What part of the game did you get to?

Only the beginning, end of Chapter 2, I was so frustrating looking for Bourbon and getting killed because I had no ammo to fight the monsters.

When you first go to the surface? That was one of the challenging parts for me. You do have to scavenge a fair bit and stock up at the traders as much as possible. Another tip is it is better at times to be stealthy. You can creep past monsters or pick them off with head shots which saves ammo and doesn't lead to alerting every monster in the area. If you can't get on with it though I'm sure it will be loads of fun going guns blazing on the other mode. You are not far in either so a good time to do that I would say.

Yep it's only about an hour into the game with nothing particularly difficult behind me so I can catch up quickly. I'm a bit scared that I'll get stuck 4-5 hours into the game and will never finish it if I continue on Survival, I'd rather finish it on Spartan first and then maybe give it a second go in a more difficult mode.

Was watching someone playing Velocity 2X last night and it looks brilliant (top down shooter game with platform elements), if you liked Resogun then you should enjoy this, looking forward to trying it out tonight now. I thought it was too late in the night for me to start it up myself so just decided to watch a stream, ended up watching for about an hour, it seemed pretty intense :D one for the people who like to do perfect runs of levels.

Where's the Diablo thread? and who's up for some tonight? (Diablo that it...)

In fact since I started adding Red Cafe people onto my friends list I have a record I am not proud of. I seem to have played more than any of you lot

I officially have no life

It releases on Tuesday doesn't it? Likely they will process then hold them for delivery, you might get it Monday though.

They most likely doing that because they have a lot of orders.

Hope not, took Tuesday off to be at home when it's delivered :nervous:

Edit: Nvm, just realised they'll probably just re-deliver the following day

They'd most likely send it Monday via tracking. If they send it earlier then you can just ask the courier to change the delivery date.

Don't think Bungie or Activision will let retailers send copies earlier. Even reviewers get their copies on Monday.
