Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

So people who've ordered from GAME - do you find your items arrive on release date or a day before that? (Or heaven forbid a day later!)

Don't worry!

Yours will be with you on release as it is courier. But I haven't used GAME for release dates in a long time. Only use them if there's an offer on. I tend to go with Shopto if I want the game on release or before. Then Tesco or Amazon.

PS4 arrived on release date (finally had a chance to shift that store credit to something fairly priced), haven't ordered a non-digital item off them apart from that in years though.

Ahh that's a good point, it did mention Express Courier under delivery.

Well that's a relief, ta.

The only thing I am hoping for next week regarding Destiny is that I can play it. Most likely the servers will be terrible with the amount of people trying to get on and have a feeling PSN will have problems too.

Hope I am wrong though.

I'm probably going to steer clear from it for the first couple of days. Going by the launch day experiences I've had with MMOs, id rather wait out that pain (I know its not a conventional MMO but I suspect it'll suffer from similar server overload issues).

Is there an offline mode?

I'll be amazed if its a smooth launch, these things always have issues because of the amounts of people the first couple of days. They haven't sent out the review copies in time for a pre-launch review roundup either which further jusitifes my decision to wait and see for a week.

Fair enough lads, hope your right... servers will probably be fcuked for the first week anyway

Nah, it is online only. But you can of course play on your own though.

As far as I understand it's one week. As Trigg, he's bumming the game director.

Not sure what you get up to with your friends but thats not how I roll.

Anyway, my information is the weather patch and a photo mode to be patched in soon after release with more unannounced stuff to follow.

This is probably a sily question but I got these rubbers to put on the triggers today and I don't know whether I should remove previous rubbers or just put the new ones on top? One has been peeled off anyway, the left stick on the black pad has no rubber anymore anyway so if I put the new rubbers on top of the original rubber on the right one it feels weird. Triggers are also pretty bulky with rubber on top of rubber but I'm not sure whether I should remove it.

I got the shitty ones today. They seem fine. The better quality ones should arrive tomorrow, they should be of better quality.

Anyone? I have put one over another for time being, seems fine. The left stick on the black pad feels the same though even though it has no rubber below. The new rubbers will be tighter so I will most likely have difficulty putting it on.

So it is basically trying to replicate the vita's remote play on a smart phone and a regular ps4 controller. Could be neat if they can pull it off, but I would assume the phone's hardware would cause some issues with speed and such

Those Sony phones are just as powerful as the Vita, aren't they? If it's streaming it won't have much to do with the graphics capabilities.

Does anyone know if Silent Hills is going to be exclusive or not? I can't find anything concrete.

It was an Kojima game that forced me to buy a PS3 last gen, and it'll be the same again this time with Phantom Pain - but I'm just curious about SH.

Errrrrm, no buttons, fecked!

 You replied the same when Microsoft streamed Halo 4 to a phone last year despite them connecting a 360 controller.

Do you just read the titles and nothing else and not bother with the video?

My step dad already has one of these clips, so he will be on this as soon as PS Now + remote access come out. That was why he bought it in the first place cause I told him they were planning on letting you stream games to your phone.

Wonder when Microsoft gets in on it - they showed off their technology last year so they were definitely looking into it.

Possibly, can't say I've actually looked at it at all. I just assumed that a phone running a bunch of other stuff at the same time, would be less powerful than a dedicated gaming handheld. Though at the rate phones have moved it probably isn't the case

It's just like streaming Netflix or something as the game is running on the PS4 and the image streamed to the phone. The input travels back to the PS4 to control the game.

What the feck i9s the point of having a handheld device when you then have to lump a controller around with you? At least with a VITA or a 3DS it's built in, you can't just simply stick a DS4 in your back pocket.

Does anyone walk around with a Vita sat in their pocket? I doubt it. So it's probably not all that different.

I bet hardly anyone does. I've never done it.

Does anyone on here do it? That isn't Weaste?

I'm not sure I've seen one that isn't my own outside of a store in all honesty.

They're not exactly the most pocket friendly device. Anyone who has a bag with them will find carrying a ds3/ds4 around isn't gonna be a huge deal.

My thoughts exactly, they aren't exactly expensive, especially in comparison to your average mid/high range phone. Just get a Vita...

I do, so do others... it's a portable, you make it sound like it's some kind of mockup that isn't practical outside the home. That's what it was made for...

Now your just making stuff up...

I'm really not. I've genuinely never seen anyone use one I don't think. It was only in reply to Weaste using anecdotal evidence of 'loads use them on the train' rather than me saying it was particularly indicative of their use. I don't get the train a great deal admittedly, but a shit load of buses.

I always got the impression that most used their Vita as a home device though.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone use a 3DS/Vita on public transport, everyone just seems to tap away at their smartphones/tablets. I have seen a few using during flights, thats it really.

I get the impression that the smartphone/tablet market is eating away at the console handhelds, hence Sony are onto a winner with their remote play breathing new life into their usage.

Admittedly, I don't see a great deal of 3DS/2DS either these days but I use to see DS being played all the time.

The DS used to be my most used gaming device - must have racked up a good 100+games for it. Nowadays though its obsolete since I've discovered a smart phone emulator.

Oh for sure there aren't a lot of them in the wild but they are out there, but if you are going to lug around a controller, then get a dedicated device... it just doesn't make sense to me. I used to have every game in the sun on my phone but once the novelty wore off... my phone went back to being my phone.

TLDR;

Casual games? Then use a phone, if you need to bring a controller out with you to play a game? Get a dedicated device...

If you are going to use that thing at home on your existing phone? Go for it, makes sense and saves money...

It is. Nintendo are still doing fairly well, especially in Asia, but Sony have taken a big hit with Vita, that's why they don't support it anymore with AAA titles.

Same here, if I want to play I'll use my Vita or a 3DS, not phone. I've completed a few games on iPhone but not in a while.
