Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

A question for @WeasteDevil @Lance Uppercut or anyone else that might know - are we due to get flash in a future update?

I want to stream 3pm kick offs via the PS4 web app like I used to on PS3.

I've got a problem. The main TV I am going to use this on is in the basement. It is about 10 years old. It's an HD TV (made by Sony ironically) and the picture is still great so I have no plans to replace it. Unfortunately, it doesn't have an HDMI port. It does have a DVI port. Will this do the job for me?

Do I need to get the Red White and Yellow cords? Do they plug in to the PS4?

No they don't, there is no multi-av out on the PS4 like there is on the PS3 and PS2. Your only real option is out of the optical port (so you will need something to accept that audio), or get something to strip the audio from the HDMI and pass the video to DVI.

DVI doesn't carry audio.

But when I tried to stream the footy, it didn't work like it does on PS3?

The stream is still provided through Flash. As the viewer you have no control over that I'm afraid.

The provider of the stream, as the developer, needs a slap.

Thanks @Woodzy

Does anyone have any idea if we'll ever be able to change PSN IDs? There's been rumours circulating for months that an update will address this.

I'd even pay up to £10 for this as I am sure loads of kids would that created their ID back in 2005. Sony would rake it in!

Downloading another featureless system update for my PS4. They're getting tiresome.

Guys need a bit of advice. Pleasantly surprised with the PS4 controller it's a big improvement for me on the old one. I do have a problem though in that both of my trigger buttons (L2 and R2) make a weird squishy/creaky type of noise. It sounds like they need some oil on them or something but I'm not sure I should do that incase I void the warranty or something and it still makes the noise. Have I got a dodgy controller or is there a simple fix? TIA

Many people report that they have duff controllers. I have had two since launch with zero problems. There are also reports that Sony have changed the materials on certain parts of them. I can't answer your question.

I believe the materials that were changed were for the L3 and R3 sticks as they suffered high wear amd started falling apart. Most places (Game) and Sony allowed free exchanges for this issue if you're in your warranty period. One of mine started to suffer the same problem but I bought covers for them so its cool and other than that mine are fine. I also can't answer your question.

Ok thanks. I don't think I'm going to mess around with them. I'll see if it goes away as I've only played on it for a few hours and if not I'll get it replaced. Need it sorted for next Friday though (TLOU)! :)

Pre ordered The Last of Us, I didn't play it on PS3 so I'm really looking forward to it.

I think mine squeeked a bit when I was wearing it in but its fine now. That, or I have the volume louder in game.

Actually my mate had a similar issue with his L2 button, when I was around his and tried some games it was noticeably squeeking. I spoke to him about it the other day and he said its not doing it now so it really might be an issue that just goes away once you "break it in" so to speak.

Apparently the 60 fps option in The Last of Us comes with a reduced shadow quality, the higher res shadows are only in the 30 fps mode according to rumours (there's a massive hate thread on NeoGAF).

At least people get the option, either go with 60 fps or add the extra detail and play at 30 but It's a last gen game, if it can't get this to 60 fps without making sacrifices then it's another cause for concern for me.

What the feck are you talking about?

If it cant reach 60 fps without reducing graphical quality then its a bit shit, no?

I don't go on neogaf but it just seems that it's the place people whine about everything. People need to actually play the game before talking it down I'm sure it's going to look and run great.

Reducing graphical quality from what baseline? I think that you're getting things confused. Are you saying that the shadows are worse than on the PS3?

No, no the quality is better than PS3 on everything from textures, shadows and lighting but the best quality the remastered version offers requires 30 fps. No doubt it will look good but it would have been nice to get the best settings while also running at 60 fps.

Well of course you can do extra things at 30fps because you have twice the time to render the scene - 33ms vs 16ms. I don't see how this is confusing.

Also, at the end of the day, this is a port, not a complete rewrite.

I'm shocked how they actually got it to the level it is considering what the original codebase was running on - Cell.

Depends how long they've had.

Scaleable graphics on a console huh? Looks like they are pushing the 60fps thing hard

Who was that kid trying to tell me fps doesn't actually exist and it's just a buzz word? That was fun ;)

Oh and people shouldn't read the neogash forums. Unless you fancy losing IQ that is. Mind you the same can be said about most of those types of forums.

GAF is absolutely atrocious, but it's good for news. Just a pity about the rest of it.
