Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

It doesn't work on the PS4. Logitec stopped doing console wheels some time ago. The G25 and G27 would need drivers to work on the PS4. Maybe Sony might do it themselves, maybe not, they don't own that hardware.

I had a quick look on the logitech forums and the support team say this:
Unfortunately, we still don't have an official notification whether or not the wheel will be supported on PS4 consoles. The wheel works with HID drivers found on PS3 port consoles, so we're expecting the same driver implementation on its current successor.

It's up for the game console developers (Sony) to verify if their driver support will accommodate external wheel controllers, or to update it in a timely manner. I hope this information helps.

Thats from late 2013, so we already know the PS4 will support the wheel, I'm hoping that between the two of them they just update the drivers. I must say too Logitech have always given fantastic support of their wheels so I think the chances are high of them sorting it at some point.

It is amazing this thing doesn't do 3D yet isn't it.

In fact the whole blu-ray support is pretty shit when compared against the PS3. Patch it Sony, I like my blu-rays.

Me too, and also 3d has only just recently become something I want because I got a new telly. I watched one 3d movie (the hobbit 2) on the ps3. It looked amazing and I want more.

1.7 update notes:

SHAREfactory: After you update your PS4 to v1.70, an icon to download our free SHAREfactory app will appear on your PS4 system’s home screen once it’s available. Once installed, SHAREfactory allows you to easily customize your gameplay videos with special effects, video commentary with picture-in-picture capability through PlayStation Camera, and custom soundtracks using the included audio tracks or your original music imported from a USB drive. You can then share your videos on Facebook or export them to an external USB storage device. The app is packed with plenty of cool, but accessible, tools. It’s simple enough to use for beginning editors, while functioning as a rich video editor for those with more creative aspirations.

Check out our new SHAREfactory video that provides a walkthrough of what you can expect:
Automatic Pre-download: No more waiting until after a game is released to start downloading select pre-ordered games from PlayStation Store. This new feature allows you to get to your games faster by automatically downloading select pre-ordered games up to several days in advance of the release, so that it’s ready to play as soon as the game is released on launch day. There’s also a countdown timer prior to the release of the game so you’ll know how soon your game will be available for you to start playing.

Option to Disable HDCP for Games: This highly requested feature will allow you to have the option to turn off HDCP for games so you can capture longer gameplay sessions directly from your HDMI output and export them elsewhere.

USB Export Option for Captured Gameplay: It’s now even easier to show off your heroic gaming moments and the SHAREfactory videos you create with the world using this feature to export your videos and screenshots to a USB drive. Just click on the DUALSHOCK 4 SHARE button, save your gameplay on a USB drive, and then share your proudest achievements on other social networks and other video platforms.

Live Broadcasting in HD and Archiving Support: We’ve increased the resolution for live broadcasts so you and your friends can watch games livestreamed in 720p HD. You can also archive your broadcasts on Twitch or Ustream and watch them again later.

New SHARE Options: We’ve got a number of new SHARE settings that will give you better control of what you want to share with your friends.

Here is what you can look forward to:

Change the default gameplay recording time in the SHARE menu under Video Clip Settings.

Save only the video clips and screenshots you want by selecting Upload Screenshots or Upload Video Clips for each capture. Also upload video clips and screenshots during your live gameplay broadcasts.

Select specific Facebook audiences to share each video or screenshot with.

New DUALSHOCK 4 Options: New light bar settings have been added for DUALSHOCK 4, allowing you to change it to Bright, Medium or Dim in the Settings menu. The touchpad has also been updated, allowing you to navigate the on-screen keyboard using the DUALSHOCK 4 touchpad.

New Friends Options: It’s now easier to find Friends and send requests with the ability to search Friends-of-Friends, view Mutual Friends on another user’s profile, and accept Friend requests directly from the Friends list.

New Trophies Sort Option: You can now sort Trophies by rarity in the Options menu.
PlayStation Store Payment Support: Similar to PS3, we’re introducing Alternative Payment Methods (APMs) for PS4 for content purchased on PS Store, starting with PayPal support.

More PlayStation Camera Commands: More voice commands are added to PlayStation Camera, allowing you to launch the apps installed on your PS4 with the sound of your voice.

New PlayStation Plus Icon: For Plus members, you’ll now have the PS Plus icon appear next to your SEN ID on the login screen, home screen and other areas across the PS4 system’s sleek user interface.

Music Unlimited SHARE Options: With a Music Unlimited subscription, you can easily share your favorite songs with your friends by pressing the SHARE button on your DUALSHOCK 4.

I wish they would add an option to upload gameplay videos to youtube like the XBone can as I abhor Facebook.

Will there be any way of obtaining a physical copy of MLB in Europe or will I have to download it from PS Store at an incredibly inflated price?

You could create a US PSN account and buy it that way? For me it's 60$ on Xbox and I get charged £38 which is much cheaper than the £55 on PSN. I assume it'll be a similar story for you in €.

Perhaps but then I won't be able to play it on my account and knowing my laziness I'd probably not bother changing the accounts just so I could play MLB. I'd rather have a physical copy as well, not sure there's going to be any way of buying it in Europe as most people don't play baseball here. I have no clue about baseball and know only a few players but I enjoyed watching it back in the days when I spent my Summer in the US and the graphics of this game alone make it a worthy purchase.

Pretty sure any account can access it on the console it was bought on mate.

Ridiculous if not.

You activate your US account on a PS3/4 and then any account on said unit can access your purchases... as far as I now. I made a US account yesterday, should have done it ages ago... thanks for the tip whoever it was.

Stupid question but will reducing the light-bar brightness improve battery life?

Also, I wish they would release the suspend/resume option. I'm sure that was one of the features they claimed would be ready for launch.

Doesn't that happen if you put it on standby?

I guess Weaste doesn't remember ripping Forza a lot of times for not having features, specifically naming weather about 5 times.

But yeah, it looks very good, lets hope it handles well. It's 30fps right? But a sim racer? Or is it between arcade and sim, kind of like Grid 2? I'm a bit confused about what it's meant to be.

It's some weird social racer where instead of a career your earning a rank for your social club? And then you can challenge other clubs in a race, like 3v3 and stuff?

Online only?

It's not confirmed officially if its 30 or 60 fps but I'm fairly sure it'll be 30fps. It's not really a sim racer, no. It's more of a arcade racer, think Project Gotham Racing which is the best way I can describe it.

The handling model from when I played it was fantastic and this was last year at GamesCom. Difficult enough to be a challenge but also loose enough to be able to drift through corners if you so please.

We don't really know about the integrated social aspect yet, and what we did know might well have changed. You do have social challenges that pop up though which are taken from leader boards. When I played it they were Drifting, Top Speed and a Cornering challenge. I think they might well be more on release though.

There's a single play offline mode and when you race online you race under your club and earn rewards for said club I believe.

Yeah, that's an over sight for sure. Least you can save to an external USB drive now and upload to Youtube that way. You've been able to do that on Dev Kit PS4's since day one so I'm surprised it's taken this long to implement it.

Also, regarding wheels. The Thrustmaster wheels T80 & T500RS working Driveclub with more to follow I'm sure as they continue to work with the manufactures.

No. The thing I'm referring would let you suspend the game and then continue from exactly where you left off, without having to load it up and go through the menus.

You can import it, plenty of places will offer that. I used to import the PS3 version every year, used to cost about £42 with delivery. eBay probably will have some places that do it.

I prefer digital though, I'm waiting on price.

So, this new update.... What features does it have then? Including the stealth ones?

Yeah I tried to capture a video before (I thought you just pressed share and it took the past 15 mins of video) but it only had 6 seconds, did I do something wrong or was it the ps4 messing about?

Cheers for the Drive Club info Trigg. Sounds good.

PGR was brilliant.. though, I don't think wheels suit arcade/y racers. Infact, they really don't go well at all in my experience.

Some people have reported that it doesn't work for them but I've never had any trouble with it. Go into your settings and check how you've got it set up. You can change what a SHARE button when held does and what happens when you press it. If you've had problems then it might be sorted with the latest update anyway :)

No worries. PGR is brilliant, I agree.

I've not used a wheel on Driveclub but I know someone who swears by it and uses one everyday on Driveclub so we shall see. Expecting new wheels later this year (probably around E3) so might well get one then.

Project CARS is sim isn't it?

Yeah, Project Cars is sim I believe.

DRIVECLUB Blog from Paul Rustchynsky the new Game Director and my friend which is why I know odds and sods about the game.

A DRIVECLUB update from Evolution Studios
Game Director Paul Rustchynsky reveals what the team has been working on.

Hi everyone. Following Shuhei’s message yesterday, I’m here give to you an update on DRIVECLUB direct from Evolution Studios. I’m proud to be leading the extremely talented and hard-working development team here at Evolution. As gamers first and foremost, we are determined to deliver the game we promised to the quality we know you expect.

We appreciate all of your support – it’s motivating and humbling for us to have such a vocal and supportive community. Your messages drive us to do everything we can to live up to our original ambition of making DRIVECLUB the game that invigorates the racing genre again.

Your great support deserves us to be open with you. I know we have been quiet for a while since we made the decision to delay the game, so I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know exactly why the team felt that DRIVECLUB needed more development. We wanted to make sure we got one important feature right.

The dynamic menu is key to how much fun you’re going to get out of the game because it is the glue that connects you to everyone else in the DRIVECLUB community. Whenever you fire up the game; between every race you play, and when you log in to DRIVECLUB on your phone or tablet, the dynamic menu has to be slick to ensure your experience is seamlessly connected. Essentially it’s where you discover what to play, and who to play with.

It’s also absolutely vital to our ambition of growing a vibrant network of millions of connected clubs, who all share the excitement of driving amazing cars together. Whether they play just to have fun, or to complete every challenge and beat their rivals in every race, it’s this connected community who will keep the game fresh and enjoyable well after launch, so it makes sense for the connectivity to be perfect.

No racing title has ever combined the development of a socially charged, multi-platform dynamic menu with all the other connected online elements that DRIVECLUB delivers. We know that what we are creating here is hugely ambitious and we’re proud of the fact that we’re getting close now because we’re a relatively small studio. The progress we’re making is great, so I’m looking forward to showing you more as development continues and prove that all the hard work has been worth it.

While that work goes on, the rest of the team here is relentless when it comes to exploiting the power and confidence of the PS4, so we’re also raising the bar even higher across other aspects of the game including:

  • Visuals – We’re constantly improving how stunning the game looks as we continue to optimise visuals and find new ways of pushing the PS4. You can see for yourself how it looks right now in the latest video we shared yesterday because all the footage was captured on PS4 from the game. It’ll look even better in October.
  • Audio – It’s absolutely state of the art. We’re continuing to refine the authentic sounds that we have for each and every car in the game and we’re going to put together videos that focus on this.
  • Driving – It already feels great to play and we’re continuing to add further layers to the physics to make it both more accessible for everybody and more sophisticated for experienced racers.
  • Clubs – We’re making it easier for you to keep up to speed with what’s going on in your club as part of the rework on the dynamic menus. We’ve also tweaked clubs to support up to 6 players instead of 12 (because the game is more fun with tightly-knit clubs and it paves the way for awesome 6 on 6 club races).
  • Tour – The difficulty curve for the campaign mode is becoming even smoother as we continue to optimise the vehicle handling and also refine the game’s AI for non-player racers.
  • Cars & Tracks – More time means more staggeringly detailed cars and exciting tracks too. If you haven’t already, check out the Ferrari in the video released yesterday. There are loads more exciting cars for us to reveal in the coming months.

I’d also like to confirm that the PS Plus Edition of the game will be available on the same day as the full release. Offering a selection of cars and tracks from the complete version, we think it’s the perfect way for those new to the genre to get an idea of what the full DRIVECLUB experience is all about. Look out for more details on the PS Plus Edition very soon.

Thanks again to everybody for your continued support; it really is a huge source of inspiration for the team. We appreciate that there’s a lot of anticipation and excitement for everything that DRIVECLUB promises to be, so we hope that you understand why we won’t compromise on quality to rush it to you.

It’s been a long and hard winter but it’s great that we can finally start sharing updates with you again about all of the cool things that DRIVECLUB does. We don’t anticipate another quiet period for a while so you can expect to see plenty more from us in the coming weeks leading up to E3 2014!

More soon™,

The DRIVECLUB team.

Sounds like they're going to have 2 different sets of physics? One arcadey, and one sim like? Or am I reading wrong and he just means balanced between the 2?

30fps. Confirmed today (can't source but check GAF)
