Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Meh wtf is wrong with Fifa 14 online, I'm winning the matches then the opponent leaves game and I get 0 points....just happened in a cap game as well, I was 2-1 up when it said ''nobody is controlling your player'' before being booted to the score screen and given a 3-0 loss.

Ea servers are wank, it's an issue with them.

Decided to change my PS4 colours a bit and opt for a half skin for it, also went for a design to cover the light bar. Was annoying seeing it in the reflection of the TV all the time so made it better. Pics are below..

Tried remote play over the internet yesterday... mind=blown. Was surprised how well it worked on my mums standard connection. Could quite feasibly see myself playing my PS4 from the work wi-fi (on break of course) and haven't a great experience with it. Really didn't think it would work, in fact I thing I said so in the versus thread...
I was wrong.

What game did you try on it afro?

I reckon that Infamous could be a perfect game for it. Single player, doesn't seem like a little delay would matter a great deal.

Just concerned about how it'd control on the Vita.. am I going to have to use the touch pad or rear touch panel? I hope not.

Also, does Infamous have any sort of aim-assist? With it being a single-player I assume not? Would need it on the Vita I imagine.

I've tried it once and it didn't work despite me having 30mbps at home and the same speed where I tested it. I will have to check it up again.

I tried Resogun, Don't Starve & Battlefield... graphical quality wasn't as great as when I remote play at home but it was still good and I put it down to my mums connection.

I think standard setup is L2/R2 and L3/R3 on the back touchpad... no way around it and a bit finicky for some games. I'm getting better with it though, and I'm sure someone will invent a contraption... maybe I should.

Any chance of developers (especially Sony first party) allowed controls to be mapped, or atleast adding some more vita-friendly control schemes in their games?

I'll have to take a look and what control schemes Infamous offers. Hopefully there will be one that won't need much use of R2/R3 etc. so that I can mostly avoid using the touch/rear pad.

Live blogs for the PS4 GDC event where they are almost certainly revealing a Virtual Reality headset for PS4.

No live streaming but apparently Sony are recording it to be distributed later. Starts at 00:30 GMT, or right now, or 2 minutes ago, or some time ago depending on when you read this post.

PS Eye will be an essential part of tracking. I called it!
Hopefully MS will announce similar for Xbox and not just some AR goggles.

Excited as feck whatever.

Actually looks quite cool, doesn't what you've done to the lightbar interfere with anything? (Camera? If you have one)

As always with these things, price is key. If its affordable and has a strong lineup this could be huge, I fully expect E3 to have some new titles with it.

Pretty much explains why they were so reluctant to turn those DS4 lights off, they knew this was coming.

Well, I'm not sure why that would mean they couldn't allow a 'Turn Off' option. After all, according to Weaste this was there originally. You'd just turn it back on for VR - much easier than buying a PS Eye, which they haven't included now as they intended.

They listed a ton of devs who are 'on board' with it; Unity, Ryse, Crytek etc. Obviously, first party will be - I imagine Naughty Dog, and one of the slides they used earlier used a model taken from that Shadow of the Colossus game.

Gonna be interesting. It's 1080p with 360 degree tracking and 90+ field of view. Surely it's going to be expensive, but they've also mentioned how 'one of the advantages of consumer products is price' and if they want it to do well.... how much do we reckon?

Similar price to the PS4? Less? More?

Well I mean yes they could add the option to turn the light off but now it has an actual function, before it was for something nobody really cared about. Still will probably patch in the option at some point.

Price I think they will aim to be less than the PS4, even if its flashy and new you think people will be as thrilled to run out and buy it if we are talking about a £900 investment for the VR, console and a game? Plus competition from Oculus Rift, I think they will try and make it extremely affordable with aggressive pricing. If I had to take a guess I reckon around the £200 mark, if its less than that I would be extemely impressed.

Oh these just dropped too:

MLB The Show 14. I'm really hoping this gets a European release again, I mean I'll buy it either way but last year they released the PS3 version in Europe via digital download. Even if you don't like baseball this game is fun, polished and incredibly addictive, plus just look at it!

Jesus. That does look stunning.

I've never played a baseball game. Not since the incredibly basic ones about 15 years ago anyway.

For an annual sports franchise it puts the likes of FIFA to absolute shame. Even though baseball isn't a hugely popular sport in Europe I think Sony would be missing a trick if this doesn't get a full release here, the game library is still quite empty and people will buy this on looks alone just to give it a try.

SCE San Diego Studio fly under the radar a bit but they are a huge asset to Sony.

Maybe some way off for MS?

Sony have been playing around with 3D + VR headsets for years, and they have been actually selling 3D headsets for a whilst. So i guess for them the tech was pretty much already there before they decided to release a headset for the PS4.

Don't expect this to be cheap mind, the 3D headsets Sony currently sell are $900+ and that's with motion tracking.

Then again, standalone Blu-Rays players alone were going for $1000+ when Sony pretty halved that price with the PS3 release. So could do the same here...

Indeed. It will probably be like NBA 2K14 for me - I don't follow basketball but I love the game.

Something needs to happen soon to reignite the next gen hype because including myself it's got to the point where it's sat there on the TV stand whilst the PS3 is laughing at it.

Wonder how expensive the VR will be..

Why are Sony so bad at advertising. If they really tried to push inFamous as a series would it be bigger that it is? I mean the first 2 games were excellent

Tbh, if you have a PS4 and you are actively looking for games... ISS is on your radar, even if it's not the game for you, you probably know about it. It's not meant to be a system seller however... and it's not like Sony needs it to be at this stage. If it's great then word of mouth will take over.

They were 8/10 games imo, very good but not top tier. Reckon Second Son will be similar which is perfectly fine with me.

Also this virtual headset, for the prices being mentioned who the feck is going to buy one?

I would consider them 9/10 games for what its worth.

But Sony arent good at advertising at the best of times

Ditto, wouldn't it make more sense to share to youtube? or some over video site...
Yeah I'm sure they'll add that feature in the future at some point.

Sony reads the Caf.

This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalise your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch.

We recognise that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4.

No release date, just says "coming weeks". Good to know they're working on fixing some of these things. Recording gameplay and exporting to USB so I can do whatever I want with it? That sounds like something I might actually use. I'd imagine people that make gameplay videos for Youtube will be very happy to hear this.

I cant wait for this game, bought the last one on PS3 and I loved it! These screenies look awesome@

Say what you will about their advertising but the lastest ads are going in hard... 'most powerful console', 'most popular console', 'best games'...

They're very bullish right now, and why not?

It's there first major exclusive. They should be pushing it.

Look at it this way, if they are basically selling every single PS4 that they can make without much of a problem, why bother wasting money on marketing something that isn't going to actually sell more consoles at this point? Yes, more marketing might sell more software, but due to the early nature of the generation it is going to sell very well anyway in comparison to the install base. This is the reason why the likes of GT6, TLoU, etc. were released on the PS3, as neither of them would have sold extra consoles, so they targeted the larger install base with those pieces of software.

Look at Titanfall and the press saying it increased XBone sales by 96% - what does that even mean? A 100% increase on 1 is 2, etc. At the same time PS4 sales increased by 70% or so due to restocking, same argument applies - what the feck does that mean? If it was significant in any way you wouldn't be getting percentage figures but real numbers.

I'd say the fact that there are still waiting lists to get PS4's is sign enough that they're doing exactly how they want to be doing. Anyone(everyone) who buys a PS4 is quickly going to find out that there are only so many games available, and exactly what they are.

Internet means a lot less pushing of software is needed, tbh.

Yep. I've still seen quite a few adverts, just a shame that the Vita has been pretty much neglected in terms of advertising. It's a nice piece of kit, and whether used in conjunction with PS4 or on its own, it's worth getting but just isn't getting the support over here it should be getting.

It is, highly underrated too. Keep hearing it has no games, but I haven't the time to play everything I have downloaded for it.

The option was there originally, I have no idea why it was removed for the retail release. Anyway....

YYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

But seriously, be interesting to see if it affects the godawful controller battery life.

EDIT: Shuhei Yoshida says you can turn the brightness down, but not turn it off.
