Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Thanks for the replies, fellas.

Don't want my lady wasting her cash on me/this if it's not gonna be used for a while yet (I have countless games to play from this gen still) so I'm going to weigh up the pros and cons over the next couple of days on whether to get it now or in half a year or so.
 
Ordered the Knack bundle off amazon. Will arrive the same day as I return from my holiday. Very happy to get the console, although I wish I could've got a different game with it.
 
Completed NFS Rivals, good fun game. Trading it in now though as it get's a little boring after a while.
 
Lads quick question. My PS4 Amazon order is preparing for dispatch, but I've checked my account and they have already charged me for the console. Could that possibly mean that it's actually dispatched?

I'm surprised it's out that early tbh. It looks quite ambitious, i would not be surprised if there is a quite long BETA period a few months before that.

I have this issue on my second pad, I don't care, I'm not willing to go 2 weeks without a pad because of such a minor issue. There's probably some easy fix for that.

I only have the one unfortunately. Its minor but there are times you need l1.

Probably wait until the new year. I've got the random disc ejection problem too so I'll have to make a warranty claim at some point anyway.

It means it is preparing for dispatch, it will dispatch tonight or tomorrow
 
Quick question - my bundle came with a 12 month subscription for Playstation Plus (think that's what it's called).

I redeemed my code so I can play online-but when I tried to get on assassin creed's online multiplayer it said I need a UPlayer account?! Do I need to pay for this as well?

Sorry for the stupid questions. But never set up the online thing before.

The UPlay passport used to be a one time code to activate a games multiplayer feature, if that code was already used or you didn't have it, you would have to buy one at a price to activate multiplayer.

Although i thought they ditched that scheme a few months back.
 
So I finally got to test out my PS4 with Fifa 14, i really enjoy the fact that you no longer need to wait 50 minutes in the menu for just a few career games.
Haven't really taken a liken to how much "smaller" the pitch feels and how much faster the game is (due to the smaller fields) but I guess this, just as with every other changes will feel more natural as time goes on.

All in all I'm quite satisfied after 5 matches and I look forward to trying Assassins Creed next.
 
What's the deal with Killzone via PS store? The title mentions something like open weekend...but the description says if you're a PS+ member its yours to keep until your subscription ends?

I saw that too! My understanding is that it just allows you to play multiplayer for the weekend of 28-31 Dec. if I'm mistaken and it gives it you permanently - let me know and I'll start downloading!

Downloaded it tonight and if its a trial its not active yet so I guess the 28th-31st seems legitimate.

Too good to be true. They need to change that description though.

Apparently that's a manufacturing problem, they left some manufacturer residue on the poles that hold the l1 and r1 sticks on accident. You can easily pop the l1 and r1 bumpers off and clean the poles or something and it fixes it. It's happening for everyone though after a while, somebody posted how to fix it all on reddit. Didn't do it yet though.
 
Not had the issue yet, but i saw people were having issues and did some preventive work anyway.

You can use a small Flathead to pop the button off and just used a ear bud and a air-duster to clean the poles and re seated the button.

I used to build up refurbished DS3 controllers and told myself this time, I wouldn't open one up. So fiddly and so easy to break something.

But I might have to if it's that simple.

Get NBA 2k (yes, even if you dont like basketball - that is how good it is) and black flag.
 
Agree with the NBA 2k14 shout. I've never even watched a basketball match before but I can't stop playing the career mode. Lego Marvel Heroes is alright, but a bit repetitive. Looks good in 1080p though.
 
Getting mine delivered Friday. I have a stupid question to ask - I've ordered a HDD, should I turn on the PS4 first or can I install the bigger HDD and then turn the machine on?
 
Does changing the HDD affect warranty? I'm sure it says something about opening the unit voiding warranty?

Will it be possible to use an external HDD?

I don't think it does, not sure though. It looks like the HDD is in it's own compartment (away from everything else), and from what I have seen on youtube / internet, it doesn't look as if there are any seals broken during the swaps so should be ok.
 
Hmmm, considering a 3D projector atm to go along with a new av receiver and a ps4... however, cant even find lists of ps4 games which support 3d, and no word about it ever supporting blu rays. I know companies aren't as bothered about 3d as they were the last gen, but it's kinda disappointing as 3d can add to things if done correctly.
 
Might have to consider fitting in a 1tb HDD then. Maybe even 2tb.

With some games taking up to 50gb in capacity, 500 won't be enough unless they are games you get annually such as Fifa or COD.

It's the best game for the system (NBA), I'm not much of a basketball fan either but it's sucked me in big time. I've probably spent about 50 hours with it already.
 
Only had the one game of fifa before I had to leave for work, but I'm really liking the controller so far. I'll have a bash on Battlefield tomorrow as well.
