Playstation 3 Vs X-Box 360

Yes. I bought Blade Runner on blu ray the other day. .still haven't checked it out mind you.

I would like to buy a stand alone bluray player - which one should I get?

You will need to pay a lot for a good stand alone blu ray. I got a cheapish Samsung one. And although once it gets going its great. It takes fecking ages to load up discs.

PS3 has the best games in almost every genre. Is the best Blu-ray player in its price range. Has free online gaming. Has a Web browser. Can run Linux. Uses standard HDDs and USB storage. etc.

/thread.

What's so good about its blu ray player? And the games aren't a patch on 360 games. In fact you agreed with me on this a few weeks ago.

how little is his monitor? bet it looks tiny next to his huge ass shiny playstation 3 :D

It's only 17".

around £150, after some research. Which isn't bad. I'd rather have a decent stand alone BR player than a mickey mouse PS3 one.

No I didn't.

As for the Blu.ray player, go look it up. It basically comes down to the fact that it's totally software based. XB360 had to use both the CPU and the GPU to play a HD-DVD. The Cell can decode 8 HD streams in realtime. If you don't believe that, go look it up.

Thats what I mean, you can pick one up on the cheap like me but live with painful load times. Or pay 300 + quid for a top quality one

Admit it, you've made all that up.

Randall - unlike The Weaste, you know seem to know what you're talking about. Can you link a really good BR player, an average one. . .and one about as good as a PS3?

Ta.

erm... no. Dont you have a lap top with Blu Ray? What does it look like when you hook that up to your fancy TV with HDMI cable?

Has anyone played World of Warcraft on the Xbox ? Yeah I know....nerd, geek and all that. I'd be interested to know what it's like

1. It's not on the 360, nor the PS3. PC only.

2. Don't even dare think about playing it. As a normal, rational member of society who knows what daylight looks like when it isn't rendered on a computer screen, stay well away.

This is going to be entertaining to read....We got a rabid 360 fanboy and I'm just waiting for the PS3 crowd to fight back:D

hope your not refering to me, im far from it, just think it funny that people buy a game console then use the point that it plays blurays to claim its better than another games console, its comical

Well the fact its a games console at least as powerfull as an Xbox 360 + plus its also a Blu-ray player does point to the fact that it might be a better than the Xbox. Its not even going into games but as a piece of hardware the PS3 is arguably better than a 360.

Thats not even going into reliability.

yeah, 5 months away from a japanese release doesnt mean its going to be any better

at no point was i talking about it as a piece of hardware, i was simply talking about games and only responded to a point weaste tried to make about it having better games in every genre

speaking of hardware and reliability, have you seen watchdog lately?

Isn't this a thread about which is the better console? as in the machine itself? hardware is a lot to do with it.

Oh yeah that watchdog episode...wasn't that presented by some guy on Microsoft's payroll?(not entirely sure, maybe someone can clarify this for me)...and honestly, are you seriously trying to argue the 360's reliability over the PS3's?

And lastly, where are these superior 360 games? games are subjective and hardly hold much weight in deciding which is a better console.

It's a 40" Bravia about to be replaced by a 42" Panasonic Plasma.

Spoony doesn't actually have the TV he says he has, or at least is so thick that he can't take a picture of it.

I've got one of them, does the biz quite nicely i'd say. And i would post a photo, but i have neither the digital camera nor the good enough phone to do it.

That's all fine and good but if I glance off his rear bumper will it scratch my whole nearside panel for me?

New one can't.

According to a reader survey by Game Informer (via The Consumerist), 54.2 percent of Xbox 360s have crashed and burned, meaning that — conversely — 45.8 percent have yet to see the red, glowing face of untimely death.

PS3 and Wii, meanwhile, cause far fewer headaches, sporting failure rates of 10.6 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively.
