PL Matchday 2 | 24/8/24 - 25/8/24

These threads are insufferable after a loss. Every second comment is a negative comparison with United and a whole lot of confirmation bias.

Don't disagree but it's difficult to see without commenting and ranting.

Yep, we have to wait for the Youngsters to have a breakthrough and kick on or invest when an opportunity arises, but overinvestment in unproductive senior pros will hamper us for a while yet

Yeah I agree. Rangnick's words about the whole squad needing tearing up was true. We've done well to revamp the defence. The midfield and attack still needs a lot of work.

100% we still need players in that midfield especially who are technically gifted and can control a game of football. Kobbie is a perfect player if we have atleast 2 more midfielders that can dictate a game with technical ability. We panic with the ball and just hoof the ball. De jong would of been such a perfect player for us

Agreed. I just wanted to read about the Sunday afternoon games without being reminded about yesterday's loss.

I’m guilty of that too. To be honest United having a bad result turns me off football but we shouldn’t pass that on to others too

Trent just not bothering to track Lewis-Potter at all then. If we can get either Rashford or Garnacho one on one with him next week they will surely have some joy.

Liverpool are very savvy. Pressure the referee about giving two obvious yellows against them and exaggerate everything to even it up

Don’t think we can count on Rashford doing this. He will run straight at him. Possibly foul him at the same time and get yellow.

In a weekend when United lose, there is zero chance that Liverpool lose.

Opposite sides of the same equation, if one is successful, the other tanks. If one tanks, the other succeeds.

They didn't look great first half and Brentford has some good moments. Hopefully Brentford come back at them but I won't hold my breath.

How did Liverpool v Brentford get chosen as the main game on a bank holiday weekend? Genuinely seems the least interesting of all matches this weekend.

There literally zero chance, the universe does not work like that.

So no punditry discussion about what Brentford should do and all of it about how Liverpool can hopefully see the game out

Probably so Sky can hype the new manager at Anfield - it's all about the narrative with them, the sporting element is always second to that.

We were the most watched team last season globally, it's all down to audience figures. I'd agree, there look to have been better match ups to watch, from a neutral point of view

Brentford are a team of giants. Are they the tallest on average?

Liverpool don’t look special. Good structure to build up play but not too many chances created.

Battle of Mid next Sunday!

I was naive to think Liverpool would collapse after Klopp's left.

Slot's neutered Liverpool somewhat, they aren't creating chances like they used to
Am I watching a different game or something, they’ve created about 5 decent chances in the last 5 minutes
