PL Matchday 2 | 24/8/24 - 25/8/24

Pretty depressing watching Liverpool - I think of their starting 11 eight of their players start for us.

GK, RB, one CB, LB, that Hungarian CM, RW, LW, CF

Yeah, I count the same. I'd maybe take Garnacho over Diaz, but still, he's excellent. I'd take Hojlund over Jota though, when fit.

I was naive to think Liverpool would collapse after Klopp's left.

Early days.

Big test for Slot is when they go a couple of games without a win. Or have some draws at Anfield. Then we see how fans/squad react.

Liverpool look worryingly efficient and getting a chance to rest some players now before next week.

They’ve still got Salah, think we’re waiting until he leaves before the wheels really start coming off if they do

Thought Salah was offside there. No replay to confirm with a line. Really helpful.

I think the defender on the far side was just playing him on. It’s annoying how we seem to quite regularly not get the lines shown nowadays though, even for close ones.

That looked off to me…. Do we not get VAR replays anymore?
Could have been a penalty for Brentford but offside given in the build up, from the next attack Liverpool score their second goal and it looked more offside than the penalty claim moments earlier. Klopp gone yet luck remains..

Refs / VAR get two decisions absolutely spot on and people are still moaning. It's not luck.

I think I was being generous saying three of ours start. I reckon the only player who doesn’t start for us is their DM - Gravenberch - ironically enough the position everyone thinks a good signing will magically transform us. We’re absolutely miles off.

Their new manager just slots right in and we are stuck with the same old hag.

We need to win next week for christ’s sake.

Your making out they have set the world a light last couple of years. Finishing 5th and 3rd isn't nothing to shout about. They will finish between 3rd and 6th this season. The worrying days about Liverpool have long gone.

Yeah we're way off the top sides, but I'd still have Mainoo and 22-23 Martinez in a combined 11. Maybe Garnacho. Definitely Hojlund.

Scousers have looked very good tbf. The 3 in midfield have been dominant, and dangerous from a number of angles. Feckers.

Mainoo doesn’t get in a combined 11 - he shouldn’t be starting every game for us let alone them.

I'd have him starting in every team in the country to be honest. But I'd also prefer to protect him more and not play him all the time, and definitely not 90 minutes too often.

They’ve played a promoted side and a team that finished 16th last season.

Good start but completely expected

Jota is better than Hojlund (for now). And Diaz is better than Garnacho

I know Diaz is currently better than Garnacho, but I think the latter will eventually become better than Diaz. I think Hojlund is better than anything they can throw up front, and I think it would become much more apparent in a team that plays to his strengths. Hopefully we'll see it soon.

Brentford haven’t scored at Anfield for 50 years apparently

Jota has to be one of the most underrated players in the league.

At Wolves, yes, not so much at Liverpool. Still a good player. But I don't think I'm underrating him just because I'd prefer Hojlund, who incidentally is massively underrated by his own supporters.
