PL Gameweek 1 | 16/08/24 - 19/08/24

Are Brighton gonna batter us at the Amex?

Without being pessimistic, Fulham had a few opportunities to counter yesterday, and had they made the right decisions, could have really punished us.

Brighton have much better quality in the attacking third, and so if we find ourselves in those situations as we did with Fulham, we could be in trouble.

Hopefully, ten Hag and the team will work on that in the week, as we really need to be better at defending transitions.

Why? Because Everton are a disaster?
Thats what im trying to work out, i was impressed with fulham but we deserved it, but today in the second half brighton looked good, but everton are so so bad.

Agreed

He'd honestly be great for them as well. Big lad, puts himself about a bit, knack for getting onto things in the box, wouldn't be expected to play any actual football.

He's basically tailor made for that Doucoure role as the one playing off the striker in a Dyche team. Their fans would love him too, he'd be their new Cahill/Fellaini.
Steady on.

He’d be surrounded by mediocrity. By players of equal ability

After today’s showing, Everton are in for a tough season. Bang average first team. A thin squad. I wouldn’t want McT to come in as the saviour if I followed Everton. I’d want the club to identify cheaper, exciting transfer targets that have composure, awareness, game intelligence and good technical ability. McT has none of these.

Feels like everytime someone is interviewing Arteta it's like someone swooning over their biggest crush, always just praise him and blow smoke up his arse.

Merson can’t help but slag United off at any opportunity. Talking about the Arsenal game and still drops us in the conversation.

Might be in the minority here but I'm not at all impressed by West Ham's transfer activity or the fact that it's Lopetegui they replaced Moyes with.

He's not a manager that stands out in the Premier League due to the sheer managerial quality being the highest it's ever been. Is he even top 10 in the league?

Their signings overall are overrated a bit for me as well.

Todibo should be a good one. Maybe Summerville will add something as well.

The others, though? I'm not sure AWB, Füllkrug, Kilman and Rodríguez will close the gap to the top 8 teams at all. They also overpaid for Kilman. I don't know anything about that Guilherme kid, though. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but these guys are nothing more than mid-table PL signings these days, except for Todibo.

Him Dixon, Adams, Keown all those have always been bitter about our success in the 90s. Quite sad

Great header!

Actually I take it back, weird defending. Left him free

Ignoring what is probably the tallest player on the pitch on set pieces. Good defending.

Villa have good balanced midfield options in Onana, Kamara, Tielemans and Barkley. A good blend of physicality and creativity.

Indeed, and with Tielemans, he has someone who will get on and be a bit more adventurous, whilst Onana does the physical stuff.

That would be Mainoo for us. Passing range would still be an issue IMO but otherwise it's an excellent midfield duo. Feels like we've missed a trick.

At least Everton got battered, but was hoping someone worthwhile would drop points at least.
