Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang| ESPN: Move to PSG very close

with players like Mkhi ,Pogba, Mata & Herrera that can pick a pass I reckon he would be perfect. true more pace than power but he is the striker I would like most.
I would also like to see him play in a front two with Rashford pace everywhere!

EPL had become so defensive these days that it is very close to the catenacchio football I used to watch when I was very young. Under such circumstances you simply have to have players with a mix of characteristics. Also we have so many positions to strengthen that we can't throw loads of money in one position especially in a position were we've already got Rashford and Martial in.

If you ask me I'd go for something of this mould

AMR: Mkhitaryan - Dembele
AML: Bernadeschi/Mahrez - Martial
AMC: Pogba - Mata - Rashford
STK: Vardy? - Rashford

A cheeky 60m bid for Mahrez and Vardy could do the trick. The former was splendid last season and was still able to score a respectable 9 goals in 35 appearances this season despite all the crap Leicester went through. Vardy on the other hand is hardworking, he can lead the line and would provide the ideal partner for Rashford (the latter playing as no 10)
You don't want Aubameyang so instead you opt for Vardy, an inferior player with virtually the exact same strengths and weaknesses?

Why would Dembele, one of the world's best young players who went to Dortmund to play consistently, accept a bench role at a club that is currently worse than his? If he cared about money that much he'd have come to us last year.

As if we ever had issues in benching former Dortmund's top players before. Also the concept of first team players & reserve players is gone. Players compete for a first team place

Vardy's strengths and weaknesses are different to auba's + he will cost us way less then him

This is not the time to be stingy, esp for a top-class striker when we desperately need goals. We should go all out for Aubameyang if his head is turned.

Save money on your CDMs, left-backs and whatnot..

Its not just being Stingy here. Auba is a 28 year old Dortmund player who rely on pace. No disrespect to that but we know that they need time to settle down into the EPL (kagawa, Mkhitaryan etc). Is it worth spending some 50m on such a player knowing he relies heavily on pace and pace is the first thing to go?

In Vardy we would have a consistent EPL proven striker whose got a different skillset to Martial/Rashford and who old enough not to push the latter to start asking questions about their future.

Hes not JUST a pace merchant though

If you are going to build your team around a Rashford instead of an Ibra, then you better have another pacy striker to help score goals in that system.

Just talk so far, but I wouldn't mind Aubameyang.

I expect United will ask about Lukaku, Aubameyang, and Mbappe to gauge cost, availability and player interest.

At this point inquiries about players say little about which players United would prefer to go for.

At the end of the day, you might have to go for the player you can get in a timely manner without risking your summer business with a protracted transfer saga

Can't believe people on here are having second thoughts about this guy. He gives Lewandowski a run for his money every season ffs..

And no, he's not just a pace merchant. His dribbling, link-up, heading, finishing are all top-class. Only plus points Griezmann has over him are creativity and work rate.

Also, since when is 28 a bad age to sign a first teamer? Not everything is about 're-sale value'. The age obsession on here is weird at times..

Robben is older and as fast as ever. Valencia is older and doesn't look to be slowing down either. If Auba was to lose some of his pace, I'd wager he'd still be one of the fastest players around, if not the fastest. There isn't many players around that can match him for pace, he's a bullet.

Err... That's literally what Vardy's game is? He runs around a fair bit more and has more energy, but it's exactly the same thing. I'm going to ignore the 'EPL proven part', because that's a load of tosh that gets proven wrong time and time again.

Vardy is the typical powerful and hardworking EPL striker. He's decent in air and has a good eye for the ball. Auba is the superior player but most (not all) of it is pace. Should we spend 50m to get a 28 year old striker who rely so much on pace?

38 goals this season..has consistently scored 20+ goals for the last three seasons yet some fans on here don't want because he's a speed merchant and is 28....This forum never ceases to amaze me

Not the only reason for wanting him but if he went to City or Chelsea for example I'd be upset.

Bring him in. Miki would click with him well. If Pogba and 2 wingers do the same, it would be a very good attack for a few years.

Think he would tear it up at any club in the PL. If he's willing to abandon his LaLiga dream it would be fantastic if we could get him.

Since our attack lacks chemistry and Mhki has flopped perhaps Auba can help unleash Mhki and create some familiarity. Also he can help transition us to a pacy forward system which will help Rashford and Martial when they get games up front too as the style won't need to change.

Auba can finish in any way and has the fox in the box instincts that Jose has mentioned that we need. Hope there is something to this. Probably cheaper and easier to buy than Belotti, Lukaku or Mbappe. Money left over for other elements of the squad.

People who constantly moan about Zlatan losing too many chances won't like this guy. He's like Higuain and Cavani. A lot is said about their goalscoring rates but they miss glaring sitters regularly.

I have seen Aubamayang miss sitters that made my jaw drop.

But if like their teams, United can get other players all over the pitch scoring, we'll be more focused on the goals he delivers rather than his misses. Zlatan didn't enjoy such luxury. His misses became more glaring because he was the only one scoring.

Excellent striker and would love him here but he's just one of those that I just can't picture ever being at OT. He has City, Madrid, teams like that written all over him.

From memory, he's always made it quite obvious he wants Real Madrid. So if they want him there's no real point going for him. However, each year that passes it looks increasingly likely that Madrid won't go for him, so he might be starting to look to make a move to any of the other top teams. Of course, we aren't really performing at that level on the field right now, but we do pay those wages and are looking to get back to that level.

I doubt we're looking at him personally.

Higuain actually has the highest goal conversion and accuracy rates in Serie A, his three misses in the finals he played are very misleading

Real won't buy him, they'll stick with benz and then go for mpappe. Not sure he has that many options, Atletico maybe?

Can't believe anyone in here is thinking we could buy him..

How many times had he said he only wants to go to Spain?

City will buy him to replace Aguero this summer. Nail on i reckon as i can't see him staying at Dortmund for too long now

But what if Spain doesn't want him? Maybe he will settle for the EPL. Real have had chances to buy him and passed. Alteti are buying Lacazette. Can't see Barca being interested either. He doesn't have many choices.

So you want to sign a guy who has stated he doesn't want to play for us or in England but might have no choice if he doesn't get what he really wants?

That's the last thing we should be doing buying players who would only consider us their second option so long as we offer then the most money

Oh has he said that? Can you post the quotes for me please?

No you can go on google and read the thousands of articles on him saying that ... I'm not your Echo Dot
For the benefit of those who haven't read these old quotes:
"One day I'll leave to play in another league," he said to BBC World Service, but added that, for now, he is "100 percent committed" to Dortmund.

"After that contract I have this dream to play in Spain. I hope that will happen but when? I don't know.

"Lots of people think that the Premier League would good for me but my mum is Spanish and I really have that dream to play over there.

"After that maybe one day the Premier League but for the moment I aim to one day play in Spain."

So he dreams of Spain but isn't exactly closed to the EPL as he says he might come here one day. Man Utd right now is like a mini Spain right now anyway with our Spanish contingent!

You guys with this age thing... he's not even 28 yet, he will be 28 towards end of June. Didn't he and Mkhitaryan link up pretty well last season? Mkhitaryan got the highest amount of assists at Doutmund last year. Auba scored the most.

It's a yes from me, Dermot

Really?

This is very surprising news to me. I don't have the stats but I'll check this out. I have watched Higuain a lot and I've seen him miss unbelievable sitters. I do know he also scores a lot. Same with Cavani and Zlatan. They seem to miss almost as much as they score. This is not to say I wouldn't snap them up if they are available. Just saying that those who criticize Zlatan for missing chances will also certainly have problems with these other guys.
