Philippe Coutinho Barcelona Player

Pogba look cheap now eh ?
Mourinho right again

He will be worth at least 150m in current Market

Wonder where he’ll play? On the left of the front three? 4231 with him and Dembele wide, Messi begins Suarez?

Think he’ll tear it up for Barca.

Not surprised he left Liverpool but definitely surprised he left in January transfer. I mean he can't really help Barca in CL and this just weakens Liverpool in both CL and PL. Really surprised both sides did not wait until summer.

Liverpool should reinvest all that money in the Southampton youth team.

Would save them money in the long run.

Gutted. My favorite player, the little magician. He’ll be exellent for Barca, I think. Very interesting to see what FSG do now. If they do nothing, then we have basically swapped Coutinho for Van Dijk which would be terrible. But if they go out and invest in a CAM/good DM/keeper, then we could possibly be better off.

Maybe. But at the current rate a Liverpool fan might be posting something similar in a year about how they didnt get nearly enough for Coutinho because lesser players are being sold for the same money or more just due to the constant, silly inflation.

In one way we can say that we did the deal before the prices blew up even more like you're saying. But we also helped cause that to happen by setting a new standard at the time. Barcelona can say the same thing in the future

Exactly, I'm yet to see the team that sold their best player for big money and improved as a result. Ronaldo?Suarez and Sterling? Bale and Modric? Cesc and Van Persie?

Spurs did improve though, they had bale and modric and only finished 4th. They finished 3rd and 2nd without them.

Besides Coutinho isn't/wasn’t even their best player anymore, Salah is.

We'll see if Salah remains half as threatening without Coutinho, his productivity is going to take a massive hit imo.

It's a bit like ebay though, a player is only worth what another team is willing to pay. These high transfer fees are happening because the club selling knows the club buying are desperate to get the player. Pogba will have to become that desirable to PSG or Barca etc to get that kind of money.

Are Liverpool the only club who release these dreadful statements when a player leaves, like klopps word vomit. Genuinely reads like a eulogy and cramming in some rubbish about the heart and soul of Liverpool football club. You sold a player. You also just bought two for the same price you got for coutinho. Get on with it

It's so cringey and small time.

Gutted he"s gone, but am glad it got sorted early in the window and didn't drag on all month and then happen right at the end

Coutinho is an example of lesser player , won feck all with Liverpool , pogba has won trophies every year & went to ucl final before he cameback to united. If coutinho is 140m , pogba is 150m minimum today , the only reason people call him overrated is because he played with united. If he was still juve player he would cost more than coutinho today

Doesnt seem like you really read my post. I dont disagree that in the current market Pogba's fee would be inflated over what we paid and more than Coutinho. But theres every chance a Barcelona fan will be saying the same thing in a year when prices are above the Coutinho and Neymar fees. So just like it was a huge amount of money at the time (and if you know the value of money, it still is) and now Pogba's fee seems like a good deal, theres every chance it'll be the same scenario playing out with Coutinho and Barcelona.
Also, we helped create that inflation with the Pogba deal, just like Barcelona and PSG helped create the inflation with their deals.

What? I wouldn't. He is an amazing keeper that I enjoy watching except when he is playing Chelsea. I love seeing the top English teams at the top of their game as it increases the strength and prowess of the league as a whole, in fact I realized I didn't appreciate the mid-late 00's era when all the top English teams were amongst the best in Europe. To me it just seems petty and a little strange to wish upon the best players leaving the league if they don't play for your team.
I agree that it’s not great to lose a great player from our league for the entertainment factor. But from a selfish point of view, I couldn’t care what players direct rivals lose as long as we aren’t losing our top players. For me it’s all about what United do and not anyone else.

Although, counting has generated another £140mil into Liverpool so technically they should be able to bring in another big name starts to the EPL. Like Lemar. Not that I want them to.

Barcelona’s spending never ceases to amaze me. Once again splurging on an unneeded player.

Barca is cantering to the title in Spain. Dembele has just returned from injury, now Coutinho’s been added to the mix. An already deep squad just got deeper. No way can everyone be kept happy.

The figures involved are ridiculous too. Barca’s used £300m on two, admittedly top players, for positions they aren’t lacking in. Might’ve been wiser to try and properly replace Xavi and bolster the centre of the Barca defence.

Good business by Liverpool. Already have Keita coming in, and this will give them the funds to improve in centre midfield. It’ll be annoying if Klopp is able to use this money to adequately replace Gerrard.

Seems strange that this move happened in January rather than in the summer. Won't he be cup tied for the Champions League?

Iniesta will turn 34 this year and can’t even play 90 minutes anymore, let alone 2 games per week every week. Coutinho was clearly a needed signing.

Dembele - Suarez - Messi
Coutinho - Busquets - Roberto
Jordi - Umtiti - Pique - Semedo
MATS

Give it a season or two before he starts to find himself more and more on the bench and Barcelona realise they can't coach his inconsistency out.

He has been consistently brilliant this season.

It’s amazing that the video of them liking coutinho on social media is actually from the summer (can make out the dates on his Facebook post which is August). This has been a deal that has been done a long time back

They could've had Coutinho, Suarez and Sterling frontline. Scary prospect, but then again, they made huge profit from those, so owners must be chuffed.

They had that in 13/14 season.

You’d think someone in those 5 months would’ve told them the video is pure shite as well

If we get a player below 100mill in this market I'll know he's useless. Think he will do well at Barca but its getting to look like Neymar was a good deal.
