I like Jones, I think he has a lot of potential. Would be delighted if we got him - he would definitely improve our squad.
Won't improve our current 11 though but will have massive potential in the future imo.
Have to agree, think he will be a class act. But regarding United signing him, I just didn't think it would be true, £16m for a 3rd/4th choice centre back would just be too much. I still believe Varane will sign for us.
Yeah, a couple of people have said that he can go elsewhere to Arsenal or Liverpool and potentially be starting 11, which would put them in a stronger position than us to sign him. Even if he went to Chelsea he could be 3rd choice behind Terry and Luiz so he would get plenty of games. Here he would be possibly 5th choice (I still rate Evans a lot), 3rd at best. Unless we played him in midfield, but we've got a lot of players there as well so again a lot of competition.
RAWK are convinced that we're in the driving seat to land him. Apparently he's due to travel with the U21s team today, unlike Henderson. So any possible deal may have to wait till after the U21s tournament.
Jones would be good as CB cover and could also play as a defensive midfielder.

Wow, delighted and shocked by this. He looks class and in Jones/Smalling we have England's brightest CB talents. Very exciting. Could mean the end of Evans, definitely means the end for Brown.
He is an exceptional talent and if true I'd imagine Fergie probably hadn't intended on going for him this summer but has had to step in because of other clubs making moves.

Big money but shows that SAF must have a lot of faith in him. This has come out of the blue but then again, so did the Smalling deal.
I can't remember, but does he play left centre back for Rovers? As we already have Smalling and Rio who almost never plays on the left.
