It is not ludicrous breach of contract as long as we pay every pence of what he would earn for the remaining months of his contract.
Then it isn't a breach of contract. Why pay him the same to go as to stay in case we need him or can loan him out?

Okay. You know more than me despite the player himself saying it was a knee injury. Super brain here.

Because he may be disgruntled with how he's being treated and it might be better for squad unity and morale to move someone like that on?

I do not see any advantage of keeping him. It is a reminder of how much we have fallen and how mediocrity is tolerated. We have to pay that money to him anyway, but we don’t owe him a place in the first team, or for him to be at the club.
Barca also breaks the contract in this manner: either by paying some money so the player can leave on free and join some other club (mutual consent), or if the player does not want, by paying every penny on the remaining contract. I am advocating for either of these options, although we know that the first option is not acceptable for Jones. So just pay him what we have to pay anyway. But that is very different from the suggestion that I responded to which was to get rid of him by unilaterally breaking his contract "like Barca do".
If he was a risk to moral or whatever I'm sure we would have paid him out. But we didn't.
Because we want to see our football club run properly and Phil Jones still being here is a sign that it isn't?
I hate arguing with people who shift goalposts. Never mind. That was a YEAR ago. So lets assume its still his knee. Whats wrong with it then? Whens he coming back? What about all the other questions I asked?
So many questions yet unanswered despite this guy hanging around the club for the better part of the last 4-5 years barely playing.
As I said, you know feck all. Just like everyone else.
Everybody can rest easy now. Phil is fine.
Both injured I think. Unsurprisingly.Bigger question are Williams and Tuanzebe? Why we didn't sell/loan them? Surely we could have find club for them.
Leave him alone, it's not his fault that we give him a long term contract. Anyone of us here wouldn't give up 60-80k a week wages if we were him.
We can only hope (I know) he can get rid of his injuries problem and come back to contribute to the team wherever possible.
If he does that for few games, we will trigger his one plus year.Leave him alone, it's not his fault that we give him a long term contract. Anyone of us here wouldn't give up 60-80k a week wages if we were him.

Goodnight sweet prince.
Goodnight sweet prince.
Exactly. Doesn’t change his situation. He was never going to play regardless.I don't think that he will be too much unhappy with that.
I guess he is still happier with that than to take a pay cut and try to restart his career elsewhere.
My only question with this is, why don't the club come out and say that? If there was any chance of a recovery (and a potential transfer fee) I can understand it, but if he's finished then just let us know. It would cut down a lot of the chatter (and abuse).I genuinely don't think he can. He played a handful of minutes last year and has not appeared since so I doubt playing again at any level is very likely at this point. It has been suggested that the injuries and the online abuse affected him pretty badly with regards to his mental health and so it is likely that the club is probably just doing right by him by not cutting him loose. It is quite possible he retires soon and I would imagine a role earning his coaching badges with the youth teams or something of that nature will be offered.
I would say that despite playing next to nothing, he did us less harm then some players who played. How strange that may sound. So in these 3,5 years (after he signed new contract) he played how much? 10 games in PL? And will cost us aprox 15 mil. Damn....

We'll see. If he doesn't retire soon then your opinion isn't correct.
Surely it's not that easy to find a club willing to sign him when he's been injured for yearsLets be realistic here; for months he knew that he will not play under ETH. Or that he will be 5th choice at best. He also knew that club will not stand on his way if he wants out.
So he could have asked his agent to find him a club. Any club. But he didn't do that. He chose money. Which is fair enough, i have no problem with it. But my point is; his ambition is to get this year's wage and retire. Screw playing football

If he does retire soon do I win a prize?
For much (much, much) lower wage or wage based on number of games, he would surely find himself a club. If his desire was to play football. It wasn't. He chose to collect "free" 3 million.Surely it's not that easy to find a club willing to sign him when he's been injured for years
