It really is ridiculous.
Why haven't fans turned on him? It fecking boggles my mind. He's just accepted and I cannot comprehend it.
I bet there's still at least 15ish % people here who think he is fine, and will praise him after two good games against relegation teams saying it was good to keep good squad player like Jones.
He is fine and a good squad player though. His fitness is a problem though.
He is a terrible footballer. Just baffles me how we could extend his contract
We will never sell him. If we are to get rid of him, we'll have to pay him off, or wait for his contract to expire.
How long does his contract have left? It can't be that long now surely? He signed his latest in 2015 was it?

Wished Liverpool or Arsenal would have signed him back in 2011
Plus one. We can't risk that he goes on free after 4 yearsFour year contract!
Just because he got a new deal doesn't mean we won't move him on. Maybe we were just protecting ourselves against losing a player for nothing.
I'd sell this summer along with Rojo, Darmian and Bailly. Keep Lindelof and Smalling and rebuild from the back.
You still believe that crap? Rojo is still here for example.Just because he got a new deal doesn't mean we won't move him on. Maybe we were just protecting ourselves against losing a player for nothing.

Nah Jones has been miles better. There have been periods when he's been a very good player. But those were ages ago and it's been clear for a long time that he's simply not good enough.I posted this in another thread recently but Man City's equivalent of Jones is Rodwell. Both English defenders of a similar age, both seemed to have large potential when they were breaking through, both signed by big clubs for similar fees at around the same time. City took two years to realise that Rodwell wasn't up to it and move him on. So far Jones has had eight seasons at United and just been signed up for another four. That's the difference between ambition and complacency.
I'm afraid I have some bad news for you.
He signed a new 4 year deal in early Feb this year, taking him up to summer 2023. With the option of a one year extension, should the club wish to do so.
