PGA and European Tour Golf 2016

I guess MVG's finishing/doubles is comparable to Spieth's putting, and Anderson's power scoring to Rory's drives, but then MVG can power score with the best too....
Thinking about it, Spieth is peak Peter Wright.

That's definitely true, Rory's short game is better than he's showing here, but I still put Spieth on another level.

I'm sounding really critical of Rory here, I don't mean to be.

I know why you're saying but swings are unique and difficult to compare, the result of the shots is most telling and his touch is very very good.

Mickelson is probably my favourite short game player ever though.

That is pretty rough, but she was taller than him which is just wrong.

Please don't make me have that discussion!
You'd happily have your head between Wozniacki's thighs though.

One thing that never fails to impress me about Rory's swing is the control he has over the club head.

Watch him with a driver or 3 wood in his hand, swinging at probably 120mph and the head stops dead in 100% control in the same spot every single time.

 This could be a thing - Activities you can complete while Spieth addresses a shot.

I like the sound of that

Are you watching from the future? My coverage seems to be miles behind!

I was thinking the same thing. BTW he was dead lucky then! It clipped the tree on the way past. They could use "Snicko" from cricket to prove it.

Friendly, polite, gets on well with his fellow golfers, can't really remember him ever having a controversial opinion on anything or a bad word to say about anyone. I can see someone thinking he's a bit vanilla but actively disliking him seems a bit much.

I didn't like how he dealt with leaving Chubby Chandler and signing a contract with Horizon sports management, only to decide he didn't like the contract he'd signed so he decided to sue the company, knowing that if he won, the company would go under and everyone at the small firm would lose their jobs. He acted like a spoilt child during the case claiming he didn't know what was actually in the contract. All of this despite the fact that Horizon put together one of the biggest deals in sport for him with Nike.

That's just one of the reasons. I find him very hard to like.

He's had some nice breaks today. That nice putt that just held right for Rory at the second, and the 3 lucky bounces Jordan got off his tee shots in the first 4 holes - It could have been a very different match up.

Luck is only worth so much though. If Spieth wins this tournament again it will be because he has an edge on these greens that no one else in the field comes close to.

It's Spieth's to lose now, the man is a putting machine. I thought Rory looked like he was getting to his best yesterday, but he's playing too erratic at the moment to put in a real challenge.

Ffs, so many near misses for Rory.

Some bad back nines there. Keeps it interesting for tomorrow at least. Robo-Spieth is not infallible.

Holy shit, Rory's career so far at the Masters:

Holes 10-12: +26
Rest of course: -28

Ah fair enough. I'd be much more inclined to see it from his point of view in both those cases (using a Christmas party to entice a 21 year old to sign a contract including fees way above and beyond what any other golfer was paying and then making chartiy donations of 100's of thousands of dollars without consulting him is very, very fishy) but I see your point.

He was 21. He signed a contract. He compared it to McDowell's and realised his fees were larger and felt this was unfair. So he sued. Maybe he should have read the terms properly and took some legal advice and negotiated as opposed to just signing a contract.

As for the charity donations, it's fairly obvious he had committed to the charity donations but pulled out because Wozniaki disagreed with them. He committed to them after a trip to Haiti. Which part do you think is fishy? Do you think a sports management firm from Dublin and Unicef were in some sort of money laundering scheme or a deal to rip off Rory McIlroy?

The man wanted control of his own finances and wanted to get his dad on the books to earn some big money. Simple as that and nothing at all wrong with it. But to be petty and claim he didn't know what he was signing and he was coerced into signing it was wrong in my book.

I signed a mobile phone contract when I was 18. After missing several payments would the phone company and debt collection company let me off if I just told them I was 18 didn't realise the bill had to be paid every month.

Thank feck for golf....

Be careful not to jinx it. After our tactics in that second half I wouldn't be surprised to see Rory come out and tee off with his putter on the first.

We can always hope he appears with Jose on the bag, who's just added a collection of United headcovers.

Need something calm & relaxing after the shit football. Hoping for an eventful final round.

You have no idea.

:lol::lol:

I cant believe even the most sensible and respected posters have been reduced to such desperation. LvG has a lot to answer for. :( (this is where a shaking fist in anger/rage smiley would come in handy)

Rory starts how he finished last night. Awful drive and awful putt. Shocking.

Did you just call me sensible? You must have issues too!

Rory picks up where he left off...
