PGA and European Tour Golf 2015

Incredible planning from the R&A to give Watson the send off he deserves, would have been a disgrace for him to come back and play one hole with no-one there. Seems like common sense but great to see it happen.

It was a beautiful moment. Two of the greats playing their last open on the same day. Yet another reason to be glad I was watching the golf and not the cricket.

Fans who paid for tickets today will get a grand total of 60% of the cost back.

What a joke. I can only imagine how much they'll have spent during the day with no golf to watch.

I guessed it must have been pretty windy, they don't postpone play at the Open lightly. I remember a few years ago Tiger had top play in awful conditions and had a shocking round. A lot of players still in this, I reckon anyone in the top 30 or so at the moment, I think it will all depend on the weather over the next couple of days.

I do think it's a bit shit from the BBC that there's been hours of golf played this morning that's not been televised.

Say what you will about Sky buy you wouldn't miss a shot if they were showing it.

Now 25 players within three shots of the lead. Shame it's going finish tomorrow afternoon cos I know work is going to be fecking manic and I won't get to see it.

This is bullshit, St Andrews getting bent over and destroyed by the field
Exciting as far as predicting the winner goes but this can't be right.
If good players are birdying every hole what will the great players do? Eagles? Of course not. This could end in a massive playoff

St Andrews without wind is toothless. What a difference from a day ago.

That would be pretty cool though- a six-way play-off.

On the other hand, DJ hasn't taken advantage of the benign conditions. Should make for an exciting final round tomorrow with so many contenders.

So pissed off I'm not gonna be able to sit through the whole final day.

Have tee times been confirmed? I'm guessing when I get home at 5:30-6ish there should still be a fair amount left to play?

Me too. Wont get home till around 5:30 and I'm so annoyed that I'll miss most of it.

Sky regularly start their coverage when half the field have finished their rounds. And Sky follow 3/4 groups so really you're just seeing a select few golfers. Their coverage is far from great. BBC's coverage of the Open is the best weeks golf to watch on TV every year, for me.

Fair enough if Sky do similar that sucks too, but it annoyed me this morning that I got up and went to put it on only to realise coverage didn't start until almost 3 hours after the first group started.

Even if they put it on the red button or online or something until the standard television times. You'd think they could show everything live in this day and age.

Anyone knows what happens to the prize money if an amateur like Paul Dunne wins? Does the 1st place prize money go to whomever finishes 2nd?

He's not professional so he can't win prize money.
Ouch, £1.15m. He might go on to never win another major. Kind of reminds me of Adrian Lewis, the darts player, who won jackpot on the slots in Vegas, but they wouldn't pay out as he was underage.

He'd make several million in sponsorship deals off the back of the win though.

Yeah, I'm sure he would tbh. The second placed guy would feel like it's Christmas.

Relax, if an amateur wins the Open, he makes the money back instantly in media deals. He will have been sponsored for years anyway however would still get offered at least £10 million by the big companies. Money means nothing for winning a Major.

Hence the nickname. I didn't know that.

was planning on cashing out my Oosthiuzen bet but betfair has been down all night.. got him at 26s

Aye, nickname was what they called him to rub it in. They said earlier that Anderson nearly went pro snooker in his youth and has had three 147s:eek:

He does look good but it's so open it's absolutely incredible.

Just as predictable as Phil Mickelson going on a run was him putting it out of bounds on 17 to put an end to it.

How the feck did Dunne end up on the practice putting green on his tee shot from the 2nd? Also took two provisional shots.
