PFA player of the year 2013

Him being 19 or it being his first season, is all irrelevant when you're putting him in the team of the year though.

Only if he's been shit is it irrelevant, when the lad has been brilliant those little titbits of information just add to what a remarkably good season he's had

De Gea, Zabaleta, Ferdinand, Vertonghen, Baines, Carrick, Mata, Bale, Hazard, RVP, Suarez.

That would be great. It should be a real thing.
Actually when you say it, and when I think about it, it really should be a good idea. Problem would be to fit it in the, already plenty of games list. But Uefa can do it, it gives extra money!

I'd prefer it over the re-introduction of that Home Nations competition that England didn't want to be part of. Sack that off, and bring in the Our League vs Your League Cup.

 it's just the fact that it might be the best players but not the best team.

Too true. It's the same with Garth Crooks' Team of the Week on the BBC. Every week, he just picks players who scored. He'll put strikers in midfield, attacking midfielders infront of the back four, full backs at centre back. It's a shit team, but they scored a goal, so had a great week of football and make the cut. Garth Crooks is a bit of a clown though. His knowledge seems incredibly limited, to put it politely.

Whats the story with voting on this? Are the players supposed to only take into account domestic games or can you include European games?

Domestic it should be, but let's say if RvP would score a hattrick against Madrid, players would take that in to account just as we fans probably would.

For a second I thought Phil Neville made it into the team of the year.

Fair enough about team of the year. The middle is terrible though, with only Carrick as a central midfielder, but in those things strikers/attacking midfielders dominate all the time.

Wanted Rafael to be in the team of the year, but Zabaleta was equally brilliant and could have gone either way without a problem. Rafael is young so I expect him there next year.

The thing is, who do you have in midfield to go along side Carrick?

Fellaini has been playing in behind the striker, Dembele has been good but I wouldn't say amazing and no one else jumps out.

Is that really TOTY? I'd love DDG to be in it, but I dunno if he will.

I really don't understand how Michu could be overlooked for the team of the year. To me he's had a better season than Hazard who seemed to vanish mid year whilst Michu was taking Swansea to the League Cup. Odd.

Rumours that Bale has scooped both awards.

RVP and Suarez are more deserving for the main award.

I believe Ronaldo & Andy Gray are the only players that have won both at once... there's no way Bale has reached the heights Ronaldo did in the year he won both.

If the voting was done now, RvP would have won it. He's been the best player overall this season for me.

Delighted that De Gea has got the recognition he deserves. Well done!

He robbed it in 2011. Only did anything of note against Inter, which isn't domestic. British favouritism.

Dembele could have been there. Gerrard and Lampard could have had a look, despite not being very good this season, they have made a bunch of assists/goals.

Thing is, it is retarded to have only one central midfielder in the team. I think that the best way to make this, is to make a team that could actually be a team, not a lot of attackers and strikers in it. It looks more a FIFA/PES team than a real team.

Claudio Yacob had an excellent first 5 months or so, but faded a bit in the second half of the season. Cabaye seems to be very good in spells as well, but he seems to rarely have good back to back games. Difficult to judge consistency when Newcastle as a unit have been awful this year.

Struggling to think of anyone else who deserves it.

Should have just put Carrick in there twice.

Agreed. That Inter game really gave him all the big headlines but he had 5 goals and not much more in assists, where as Nani has a blinder with 10 + 18 but never got voted that season. Nani also then missed out on PFAYP of the year to Wilshere.

can someone explain why this has to be voted for in march? it would take about 30 mins for every player to vote online and be counted automatically. rvp would win if voted for now.

And all those thick journalists make a living from suggesting Begovic or Mignolet are better keepers. Congratulations to David De Gea, well deserved as the best keeper in the league this season.

Told you guys De Gea has a very good chance! It's well deserved.
