Can't believe even an ardent City fan would consider Hart has been the best around. Hart had two very good games against Dortmund and Madrid away. Other than that, very ordinary, and below the standards he previous set for himself. Wouldn't even put him in my top 3 for this season.

By the time he got the award, he had only 12 starts in EPL. It was more a life achievement awrd than a best player of the year award.
But Bale was really equally retarded. Nani who was arguably the best player that edition, wasn't even nominated.

Bale is the most exciting player in the league. He's had a very similar season to Ronaldo in the 06/07 year...though I doubt he'll reach the same heights.

Because he played very well for no more then half the season. Plus he should not even be considered for young player of the year. The journos award next week has more creditability.

I think it's fair that Bale won the award. If it wasn't for him, where would Spurs be? Possibly behind Liverpool. Where would we be without RVP? Probably still at the top.

Its not really a joke, it was entirely predictable.

At the time they voted , he was dragging spurs to wins on his own.
That gets the votes, conversely , suarez is a cnut who will never get enough votes due to being so dislikable even to his peers, and VP was a cog in a very good machine by that point.
Bale was the stand out performer of the jan/feb period , its why he got all the votes, I would expect it to be a landslide with not even VP close to his totals.
If a player is within the age limits to be up for the young player then fair play to them.
You're doing that version of Ronaldo a huge disservice. He was far better then Bale was this season. Both Suarez and RVP have been better. Most of the players who vote for it just take the piss and don't even take it seriously.
I remember Rooney winning player of the year and Milner winning young player of the year despite being only a couple of months younger. The whole thing is erratic.
Bale deserves his win of the award. He's been brilliant this season so the idea he's only had half a good season is nonsense.

I'd say the players who play against him week in week out are the best judge. And this is the second time in 3 years he's won this now. He must be doing something right.

I think the issue is that football has progressed to the point where players are hitting such a high standard whilst they remain so young.
It used to be that only truly top quality players would look like anything near the finished article in their early 20's. Nowadays you're past it if you're still improving at 24!

Conversely, RvP was white-hot in 2012 but had a quieter spell at the critical time.

I dunno, Scot Parker won that and they gave it to David Ginola in 1999 (there was a fairly succesful side that year if my memory serves).
