Pes 2010

After a few more matches with this I've decided that the FIFA gameplay is easily better than this year's PES.

It's the best PES release yet, no doubt about it!!!!!

Having played the game for a good 4 hours I wonder how much EA Sports pay some of the reviewers because most I have read do not match up with my own experience. Some of the (bad) reviews are just rediculous.

I am going to take your word for it. I have read a couple of new reviews today and they also sound really positive.

At lunch I am going to the shop to part with my €40

I disagree with you, you couldn't be more wrong. With FIFA I have more the feeling Im only busy with working out which buttons to press etc., with PES every things comes far more naturally and you are concentrating on the game itself.

For any Irish lads thinking of buying today

Xtra Vision have it @ €50 (with "free" Football)
GameStop have it @ €40

So obviously the football is not free afterall!!!!

Thats more to the fact that your more used to PES.

I got this wednesday morning (thank you shop-to!!) and have been playing it a lot since.

It's a MAJOR improvement on 09, it's so much more fluid and the passing is superb. You can create some cracking attacking moves.

I love the tactical side of it, the sliders really make a difference to how your team plays.

I.e if i put 'player support' to 100, my players will bomb forward leaving only my two center backs to deal with defending, it's risky but fun.

you can also sort out stuff like how compact you want your team to play, attacking through the middle or down the flanks etc.

I haven't played master league or BAL yet,

Online....IT WORKS!! my tip would be to create a room for the country your in, obviously it's harder trying to play some cnut from italy or something. so be sensible and you will get no lag.

it's not a revolutionary change like how fifa has become, but it is pro evo at its best...

graphically it's stunning aswell, imo animations are still behind fifa but this is a start.

Got mine in Game in Dublin for 39.99 with twenty euro worth of trade ins taken off I actually got it for 19.79 though. Sa-weet.

No to get home and play the bleedin' thing.

Bloody postal workers. :(

I can't even blame them. I ordered it through Amazon, who use CityLink..

As luck would have it, my missus is out of the country. This means two things. First, I have the house to myself and can hog the telly with the PS3 as much as I want. Second, there was nobody home to sign for the fecking parcel when they attempted delivery, just over one hour ago.

I know have to make my way across town to the bastard CityLink sorting office tomorrow morning if I want to get my hands on the game any time before Monday evening.

If I hadn't pre-ordered the buggering thing, I could have picked it up from Tescos on the way home from work. Basically, I'm an idiot.

I went for the super free saver thing. FML!!! Worst thing is i'm also waiting on a few books on generative art flash programming i need, to do a commision.

 Rams seems to be on a mission to convince everyone that PES is the best game ever on earth. Fanboy.

You're calling him a fanboy for giving his opinion on PES2010, in a thread about PES2010?

IMO the real fanboys are the ones posting in threads about a game they don't play/own to take the piss out of said game and/or the people who like it.

I'm guessing this is where you come in, right?

Got it yesterday, despite both me and my brother ordering it from Play, might as well just return one of the copies from play.com and save a £5.

Only managed two matches, but I thought it was excellent, a few nice surprises since the demo.

Nothing wrong with giving his opinion in a thread for that game. Despite almost all reviews out there saying otherwise, fanboys constantly insist their game is the better one in addition to getting pissed that every review seem to compare their game to the competition; quite a few in this thread fall in this category.

The statement in bold doesn't even make sense considering I've already mentioned a couple of times in this thread that I've been bought all PES games up until this year.

Unless you own PES2010 - and are here to share your opinions on it - I would say the statement in bold makes a lot of sense.

The FIFA v Pro Evo thing is super-gay and both games have fans who are far too biased to see the bad in the game they prefer or the good in the game they don't. Mind you, I don't think anyone should comment/critcise either game (or people's opinions on it) until they've actually played the damn thing. If they do, they probably belong in the fan boy category too.

Personally, I enjoy both demos but I'm gonna buy the full version of Pro Evo, partly out of habuit, partly because it does seem to be a return to form. I'll rent FIFA and give my opinion on it in the other thread when I've had a go.

I don't need to own PES2010 to know its not the better game this year. Based on the demo(the japanese version, that was supposed to be close to the final code), and the numerous number of reviews by experts out there its pretty clear to see which is the better game.

"until they've actually played the damn thing. If they do, they probably belong in the fan boy category too"

So you've just admitted that quite a few in this thread are fanboys(I'm looking at Rams and you) considering they do not own FIFA but yet for some strange reason, can easily say that reviewers are wrong and that FIFA doesn't compare to PES.

Perhaps he is just very sure that Pro is a better game.

Perhaps I'm a fanboy too, I will argue to the end that I think Pro is a better game, if someone wants to make their case otherwise. I've read 1001 reviews that conflict with my own, but I tend to see reviews as rough guidelines about the game, to truly judge it you have to play both and decide for yourself.

I tried Fifa a fair few times, used to love it before I migrated to Pro, can't even play the game without feeling uneasy now, it's just not the same and I'll be damned if I let a review decide how I feel about a game. To even compare the two, you have to play both, a review is not equal to that experience in anyway possible.

I still don't see why people care though, if I like Pro, or Fifa, what does it matter to anyone else? Sure, Fifa could be a much better game, to someone else, but for me it isn't, and someone telling me otherwise will not change that, and neither do I expect to change minds either. It's a very petty disagreement to have, one that people tend to take far too seriously.

Are you serious?

Where did I say that FIFA 2010 doesn't compare to PES 2010?

PES 2009 aside, I've always found PES miles better than FIFA. The '09 versions were much closer but I thought both of them were deeply flawed and I didn't like either game enough to pick a favourite (maybe FIFA, if I had to?).

I'm witholding judgement on these latest ones until after I've actually played them.

Its fine to like and stick with a particular game. However, its funny to read comments like "Having played the game for a good 4 hours I wonder how much EA Sports pay some of the reviewers". Its no coincidence that almost all reviews show which is the better game. When PES was the better game on the previous consoles, were reviewers also wrong?

If you don't like this years PES then you probably never liked PES. IMVHO...

Give it a rest

You FIFA lot do my head in, it really is quite sad, do you not see that?

Let FIFA speak for itself... if it's that much better  than PES it will end up in our possession at some stage, we aren't brainwashed stubborn retards (speakin for myself here), just people with different tastes to yourselves.

Better taste to be honest.

I only moved onto Pro Evo from about 4 onwards. Up until that point I used to read a lot of magazines, that would constantly support Fifa due to licensing, certain features etc. They were wrong, and I found out the hard way. Fifa was a far more shocking game back then, yet I still can not remember a review I read that gave the upper-hand to Pro. And some of it was understandable, because some reviewers set more store in features, online play, or licensing, whereas others will go for gameplay, graphics etc.

Why even make a judgement on either game from Reviews, I've followed countless reviews and brought games that I later found were shit, because they weren't to my tastes. And if you want to look for it, you will find a hell of lot of reviews boasting that Pro is the better game this year. Ultimately, it means absolutely nothing until you play the game and decide for yourself.

I still don't see why people who prefer Fifa are coming here to tell us otherwise, and the same goes for those Pro lovers arguing the opposite in their thread. More then likely, the majority of the posters in this thread will buy Pro Evo and prefer it. If we are wrong, and you Fifa lot are secretely right, so what, go and laugh at us in that thread.

What's the point of making this into some giant argument which will lead nowhere. Because at the end of the day, none of us are going to change the others minds.

Have you played it yet?

I've only played the demo and thought it was good but seemed to be lacking in responsiveness a wee bit. If they've sorted that out I'll be a very happy bunny.

If they've nailed online play I'll be happier than a sack of bunnies let loose in a carrot factory (they make carrots in factories, right?)

The responsiveness of the players is much improved upon from the demo. Have played 3 games so far and I already found myself punching the air after a late Rooney winner at the Kop end.

Liverpool and more specifically Torres are very good in this game. They ping the ball around almost as well as Barcelona themselves. Haven't played anyone else yet so that may be the case with all the teams, the improved AI meaning they're better at keeping the ball.

United are decent. Rooney is a beast as always. Berbatov doesn't do much and is slow when he does. Park is a terrier on the wing, United's best winger by some distance in fact.

As for the gameplay, well as I said the responsiveness has been improved from the demo. The through ball seems a bit harder to implement but I'm sure it's just a matter of practice. Horribly missed a penalty, again the new system will take a bit of getting used to.

Now to try online. 8.5/10 so far. If online works I'll be giving it a 9.5.

My initial thoughts:

Played 1 exhibition, love it...

Played a replay of last years CL Final... Watched Barcelona ping the ball around as they do and it was actually like watching Barcelona. The graphics are tight, even down to Nani's slightly bumpy face. Won the game 2-1... it's a keeper. Definitely a lot better than 2009, but I suppose it's down to what you like innit?

Been trying out Forza/Borderlands since but I can tell I'm gonna like this more than the previous few.

After a night of drink fuelled button bashing among mates - with a bit of pocket change on the line, I have decided I like this game. The good news is I managed to leave out with £40 in my wallet and come back with £35 despite drinking a silly amount of Jack Daniels and eating lots of Domino’s pizza. The bad news is I am still waiting for Play.com to deliver my copy of the game and my mate broke the news that Michael Jackson is still dead over a slice of hot and spicy.
