Having just come out of your situation in the last few weeks, all I can say is that you will get there eventually, and it will be fecking fantastic.

If I'd had the funding earlier, I'd have been able to play earlier and thus compete with my rivals better.

I like this game.
I think in a way I agree with a lot of the reviews though. It's good, but there are still things to be improved. The player movement is still clumsy and laboured. players don't make themselves available or get forward in support quick enough. Counter attacking in numbers and breaking on teams when they lose possesion is impossible, for example.
It still does that thing where you see a player in space, hit directionally to play the ball to them, and instead your player swivels and plays the ball in the complete opposite direction.
Other little niggles like that which prevent it from being great.
On the plus side though, it's a LOT better than the last two efforts. I was just going to have a quick go before heading out. Ended up spending over an hour playing it and am now late.
The way players take the ball in is brilliant I think, and some of them are so much like their real life counterparts, it's almost scary. Berbatov for example. Every single thing he does is just so Berbatov like. He'll beat his marker with his first touch, or hold of challenges then play a perfect ball in behind the full back. Or, you'll play him in behind, and he'll take so long to get his fecking arse in gear, the defender ends up getting to the ball first.
I just lost 3-0 to Birmingham, or whatever it is Konami think they're called

I found, in the 3 games I played, that you had to change the tactics sliders to be more positive. It makes a massive difference. I was Milan vs Chelsea and they were just swamping me all over, so I changed the sliders so that more people would run forward and my players would be closer together, it made a huge difference.

Delighted with this I must say. No more unstopable robots like Rooney and Ronaldo. All about pass and move. Im finding the shooting the most natural in along time, I got it pretty much straight away

I've just edited all the team names, some bigger teams kits and a few transfers. The editing tool isn't as good as it used to be.
Im going into town later. I'll have it also. Give me a week to get use to it and i'll kick all your arses.

I've been playing it and the tissues are coming back out. Whats all this crap about through balls, i just scored 6 past liverpool on hard and all were from through balls.

Bought it this morning and I've been playing it all day. Unfortunately it's not that good I'm trying to force myself to like it, but I cant.
It's just too arcadey, the passing seems ping-pongy, players feel stiff and robotic and the speed is a little too fast. Feels like the players are playing on ice. Also, your AI teamates are a bit clueless in attacks, they don't move into space or make forward runs quick enough.
The gameplay is just no match to Fifa's latest attempt. Which I still think is the best since PES6, only that the game as a 'whole' was a let down and is just Fifa 10 BETA. But as far as realism goes, it's clear night and day between Fifa 10 and PES 2010 in my opinion.

with regards to AI.. I had the same problem but I actually put some effort into messing about with the tactics and sliders and it really helped... players bomb forward for me now..
