Pep Guardiola agrees 1 year contract extension | Includes additional 1 year option

I'm not really surprised that they'll most likely get away with it. Best case scenario now is points deduction and transfer ban.

Will be interesting to see if the team finds it's mojo again now knowing he's staying. Unbeaten run incoming.

Where are we getting that they've beaten the charges? Has there been any news on that or are folks just putting 2 and 2 together?
I am with you and yes 2+2 doesn’t =5

It appears that his new contract isn’t any more than a guaranteed one year extension with an option so that guaranteed period ends at 25/26seasons end.

It is unlikely that we will know the outcome of the process(IC+ appeal and potentially arbitration) before the start of the 25/26 season or more to the point after the date when the teams in the PL for that season are agreed at the leagues AGM.

I would imagine that should at the end of the process there is proven guilt around the main charges there would be a significant points deduction in 25/26 and if that’s the case you can just imagine that Pep in that last season saying something along the lines that avoiding relegation with that massive point deduction was his greatest achievement.

In effect that extra year is a win win for him

Meh, you can speculate in either direction.

Not much of a surprise that there aren’t any specific clauses for relegation

It’s hard to believe that retaining Pep isn’t their Plan A.

The idea that Pep is finished because of a bad run of results is hyperbole. We all know full well that the league isn’t won in November and that come the second half of the season there’s a good chance City will barely drop points. They’re only 6 points off top as it is with such a long way to go, but fans are reacting like it’s some sort of implosion.

Maybe they won’t win the league this year, maybe they’ll only finish 2nd.

But I bet 95% of City fans would give Pep another 5 year contract if he’d sign one.
Never came into my mind that he was leaving due to bad results. I just honestly thought Pep would walk for a new challenge (or a break) when his contract expired.
Hence I I thought Amorim was their Plan A

I thought he would call it a day at City too but I think City's first choice would have always been keep Pep for as long as possible. I don't think City were ever going to commit to a new manager unless Pep categorically said he want to leave at the end of the season.

Personally, I think it would have been naïve from Amorim to reject United in the hope that he gets the City job because no matter how highly City may have rated him, they were never going to choose him over Pep.

He's really going for that obscure record of the Vanarama North league title and Super Cup in the same season.

The Dog & Duck Sunday league won't know what's hit them next season when Peps City roll up

Guardiola wouldn't even manage a 'sleeping giant' club or any club without instant ability to compete for CL. Only reason he's staying is he knows nothing is happening. A slap on the wrist for this season maybe - and even then he said he'd leave if they were found guilty.

Nation state wins again

What about the whole juve thing- he said he would leave if found guilty?

I’d like to think his paymasters have got him over a barrel (excuse the pun) and said if you leave us in the shit, we dish the dirt.

That’s an option too. A snake like him should know what bed he got into.

He’ll spin it as everyone being against City and he himself being the savior to bring such a proud club back up “where they belong.”

Is it a case that this gets city money? Club comes in for pep when they're relegated and the get a decent pay out/compo for it? As opposed to leaving for free?
