Pep Guardiola agrees 1 year contract extension | Includes additional 1 year option

Which reports?
Multiple reports months ago that he himself wanted to complete 10 seasons, and also the fact that with the Club World Cup in june, switching managers next summer wasn't really something the club nor Pep were keen at. A year extension were always the most likely option. This isn't really breaking news tonight, it gained traction a couple of days ago.

Are you imagining this?

You’re trying to play this off as common knowledge pretty much which is obviously bollocks.
It was common knowledge among City fans that this was likely. One simple google search will show you that this certainly didn't come out of nowhere.

Unless you are implying that you follow City more than City fans I'm not sure why this bothers you so much

Managed 4 years at his boyhood club in his beloved Catalonia. Now on for 10 years at Club Abu Dhabi.

Tells you ALL you need to know about how filthy rich they are making him. Won’t surprise me if he’s a billionaire by the time he leaves.

about as clear an indication as you could get that they've bought their way out of punishment
They can’t buy it. If they could, they’d have stopped the PL getting to this stage.

They’ll be guilty, it’s a question of how many of the 130 charges they win/lose… as that’ll dictate the punishment.

Fridays PL vote will impact too.

In fairness, we need him to stay there and keep winning until Slot's little spell of winning ends.
Only when they're crap again can City be punished and Pep go.

Of course they can. They're a nation state and this has gone on for years - the people involved can change and be subject to manipulation at different times. To think city are incapable of influencing the outcome of this is very naive - way way more corrupt things happen every day. I'm not saying of course that this is definitely what's happened, but I do think, that for some odd reason, they are obviously very confident that they will start next season in a position guardiola will be happy with. Very weird to sign this contract now otherwise, and the fact that they must know something is itself a terrible sign of how the process has went

He will go eventually, but he won’t have it as good as he has it now at any other club, so unless he has the yearning to challenge himself elsewhere, he probably stays put and signs short term extensions. I highly doubt this move has anything to do with the ongoing charges.

Will be interesting to see how Amorim fairs against Pep in the next year or so.

Did you say the same when Pellegrini signed a new contract extension a few months before he announced he would be leaving?
If there were multiple reports about him signing a new contract leading up to it, then probably yeah.

Not sure Pellegrini himself were really that surprised that he was pushed out the door when Guardiola became available considering keeping the seat warm for him was a huge reason for his hiring in the first place

I will be surprised if Guardiola signs an extension and then leaves anyway if that is what you are asking?

I find this really, really interesting!!

Had a chat with a city supporting mate the other day and he was absolutely adamant that the only way Pep stays is if they were to get relegated.
Does your friend think he wants to manage in the championship or something?

So I guess this confirms none of the charges against them are going to amount to anything? Surprise surprise!

I asked that question and he blathered on about how it’s ‘his personality’ and something that he has always done. It was complete nonsense but he was besides himself about it and adamant that the only circumstance that he would stay was if they got relegated.

To think City’s owners wouldn’t have stopped this before now if they could, is very naive… given more corrupt things happen every day (including by them) and that they’re a nation state with Govt ties, unlimited wealth and the best sports lawyer in the country. They tried to stop the Oct case being heard but it was … they said they’d win all the charges but they didn’t.

Let’s see what Fridays vote brings. Hopefully City desperately pressurizing clubs and paying Samuels and Keegan tons to keep posting their viewpoint, isn’t enough. A lot of clubs will vote against City for their own reasons/the right thing to do… guessing City, Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle don’t.
