Now hand over Pedro..

I'll have you know, that's only 36.

There were reports of a late City hi-jack yesterday...:nervous:

Graham Hunter was on Talksport this morning and said that United were in "the box-seat" to sign him and that even with some interest from City, he'd be very surprised if he ended up anywhere other than at United.

Fingers crossed.

Just can not get excited over this one. It's just Pedro after all and he's not even keen or trying to hide his disappointment. A meh signing if I've ever seen one.

That because he got the bus up from Southampton?

We need bus trackers. Pedro could be a Bergkamp in the flying stakes.
They were on their pre-season tour in Austria then so he probably flight over. As i said big slip up from our radar quys.

My friend Ayako said the same thing when we went for curry today.

The only thing that annoys me with this transfer is the fact that for him it's surely step down. Ideally we should be buying players who are hungry to make it at the top level, not players who have won everything but still aren't quite satisfied where they are.

I think you're seriously under-rating him as a player. You don't play that many games for barca without being top quality, and being reduced to 50(!) appearances per season by having Messi, Saurez and Neymar ahead of you is no disgrace.

As for his "disappointment", I'm absolutely fine with that. He loves the club, and has been there since he was 17... I'd rather this than some mercenary who is happy to turn his back on them with no emotion.
It's a similar situatoin to BFS really - as long as he is genuinely set on joining United if he has to move on, and is doing so for reasons beyond (they pay well / they are the only club that'll have me), then that's great.

By that logic we shouldnt buy wc players who won it all for instance.

I think a blend of both is great. Three are times when you need that experience of playing at the very highest level and winning, and few people have as much of that as Pedro and BFS.

Romero, DDG, Rojo, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Depay, Shaw, Smalling, Carrick, Young, Fellaini, Rooney, etc etc. All bought from "smaller" teams and were hungry to make it at the top level. Adding in a couple of experience old pros like Schweinsteiger and Pedro adds to the squad, not removes from it.

ADM would have originally signed for PSG had they not been stung with FFP restrictions. It didn't stop everybody being excited over his transfer.

Odd scenes with him last night, when Barca lifted the trophy. He looks sick to death of all those trophies. Every year, a trophy. He's had enough of that. We need to get him here, and he can experience getting knocked out of the FA Cup before the semi finals, and maybe be included in Match of the Day's Goal of the Month reel now and again. Glory.

I didn't say I don't want him. I think he's a great player and will probably do well for us. It's just that if I have to put my finger on something, it's more exciting when we get the impression that they actually want to come here in the first place, not just because they aren't happy where they are and we happen to be the one offering the highest salary (just guessing here).

Yes, he needs to live through a fight for 4th spot and cold windy night at Stoke. I bet he'll ove it.

World would be beautiful if we could get only that kind of players and they have great quality too.

He has been in the club for 12 years almost and won everything there is. You would obviously be sad you are leaving especially if you chose it. Rvp Rafael And all were sad to leave even though they have been in the club less than 12 years. He is disappointed at having to leave the club for more playing time. Not for coming here or anywhere else

thats unavoidable though. He has known amazing times at the best club in the world and at the moment cant see a life away from there so its a tough decision. You wait and see how he feels once he is here and having bantz with mata and Herrera etc. He wont regret joining us even if at the moment he is unsure.

He will love it here.. He will get so much love it will feel like a fresh import to a brothel.

From what he said, he does not want to leave Barca, but if he can't play more than he'll look for it somewhere else.

Guess it's similar to Di Maria and Madrid. He wanted to stay at Madrid, knew he'd spend most of the season on the bench if he did.
Pedro's situation is nothing like Di Maria's.
Di Maria fell out with Perez over contract negotiations and a perceived lack of respect from the board. He was a starter and their most influential player behind Ronaldo.
If Pedro was in the same situation he would be at Barca for life
